Atal Setu is built by MMRDA which comes under Maharashtra government and has been under construction since 2018 till 2023 i.e. for 5 years out of which BJP was not in power for 2.5 years. Coastal Road is built by BMC which has been under construction since 2018 and BJP has not been in power in BMC since 2017.

Bro, hoods are not only located in Dharavi; unfortunately, illegal hoods are populated sparsely throughout Mumbai, with the backing of the builder lobby. Until and unless we make a plan to systematically locate and transform all of these hoods/slums, Mumbai will still have them.
Just took a drive on it. Went from Chembur to bandra to worli to Marine drive within an hour. Earlier it would've easily taken 3 hours to do that route. Bkc connector, bkc junction bypass bridge, bwsl and now coastal road. Unbelievable the change!

The coastal road is a s**t project. You guys already have the eastern freeway and in no way would it have taken you 3 hours. Meanwhile those living in the West side for whom this road is supposed to be beneficial, are appalled at what they have done. And I'm a suburbs residents, this is supposed to be the best way to get to town. Honestly prior to messing up the WEH with metro pillars randomly right in the middle of lanes, it used to take me 45 mins (morning) to 1 hour 15 mins (peak hours) to get to nariman point from Andheri West. This project has ruined the beauty of South Mumbai. They just needed to build those metros underground (like line 3) - I would have taken the same time. And we wouldn't have this ugly mess making the near coast look like stagnant water.

It was really nice to see in the tunnel not a single car riding the bus lane. Maybe they should paint the bus lane red to make a clear cut distinction and install cameras that not only track speed but also bus lane infringements
For one who may not know: This is still under construction. Only one lane has started that too 60% of that lane. You cant see the sea coast because that side lane is still under construction. There are also Marine drive type 7 km promenade with gardens and cycling tracks... even that is still under planning. So this is just a trailor. Wait for June 2024

I lived in Mumbai for 5 years when my Bank transferred me there from South. At the time the project was under construction. During covid time work had come to a complete halt. I thought it would take a long time. It is so nice to see this completed. No doubt a feather in the cap of this great city. Congratulations 🎉

Which part is actually operational? Hardly was able to see any vehicles plying on the north side of the stretch... the worli side. I thought the first phase is from Marine drive to Haji Ali.
The stretch you see in this video is the only part that’s operational. Southbound arm, that is Worli to Marine Drive. The northbound arm and the connector to Bandra Worli Sea Link will open by May 2024.

Nice video. The quality is good too. Hope this new road ease the burden of Mumbaikars. But one thing that bothers me is the End of coastal road at Princess st. flyover. It's a terrible idea to have a traffic light 🚦 narrow junction at the exit of such a long tunnel.
All vehicles should turn on their head lights when entering the tunnel because if there is a power outage then it will be a sudden total darkness which can cause massive accident. Because of this reason many cities in the world do not have ilights inside the tunnels and have a by sign to turn on the head lights before entering. Even some cars forget to turn it on still they will soon realize to turn it on as others do to see the road ahead.
I'm keeping my fingers, toes, everything crossed hoping that the public will follow lanes properly and no bikes/scooters/slow porter tempos etc ruin the flow of traffic on the road. The biggest issue i predict will be 2/3 slow moving vehicles running side by side while bikers swerve at fast speeds right next to cars and cause traffic incidents. Then all hell breaks loose and no one follows road rules anymore 😢

Agreed. Also, modern day cars are equipped with DRLs (daytime running lights), so that takes care of it to some extent.

Yes true but shouldn't be too bad since traffic flow has been improved and people will get off at exits before the end of the road directly into the locality of their final destination. However, can see the tunnel choked in peak hours temporarily
