The old town of Mumbai has so much potential. It has nothing to envy of the great capitals of the West. With a good restoration, a proper implementation of new urban planning standards and an enrichment of people (it's already starting to happen) , it would be the place where everyone wants to be (just like New York, Paris, London or Dubai).
Yeah, they also should add bike lanes where there is extra space. Better road marking and improving the quality of the road and pavement is also needed for a posh historic area like this. Mumbai surely lacks greenery along roads to attract wildlife and give more breathable air.
@@Techy218 the nature and type of road depends on the hands that work on them. So if course if you hire cheap , low cost, daily wage labourers and make them manually carry out the task instead of world class equipment and machinery , you can't get the desired results

Why are so many people walking on the roads when there are big and empty footpaths available? We Indians lack basic civic sense and then we blame government for everything
You've clearly never been there. Or maybe you have but not recently. The railings along the footpath make it difficult to access. In some cases, you need to walk 100 meters to find an access point to the footpath.
If we make it more clean and paint a little on some buildings and remove all unnecessary poles and things on the road, it can compete with some of the high end destinations in Germany and Europe.
It’s so great to be able to drive along empty streets in Mumbai, and only early morning, probably on weekends, allows such sights. The only problem is that by then, the jharoo gang hasn’t made the streets clean so it kind of mars the experience of being able to see the beautiful city as it should be.
Its called Bollards.. Now you find them almost in all Cities of India. Some are painted Black also..In Hyb, its just made of Concrete.. In Sion, Mumbai you can these Bollards made of S.Steel..
Mumbai has footpaths yet people still walk on the road, they need to start fining people for not walking on the footpath when one is there and use the funds collected to build more footpaths across the city for people to walk on.
Footpaths are full of hawkers and vendors. Not just Mumbai but throughout India , and even in other countries. Even in a city like Tokyo , you see kerbside vendors selling streetfood and snacks. However the difference is that advanced countries have a largely disciplined native population with civic sense and ethics. In a country like ours , it's difficult to expect all that.
@@MrAgolikeri The reason is not lack of civic sense but the lackadaisical approach of the government and beaurocracy in forming and implementing laws that address these issues. Primarily because of the fear of losing popularity amongst the voters.
