In the trailer, it showed the trainer having 5,000 LP and then crafting icy wind, which costs 800 LP. After crafting it, her LP drop to 4,200 LP. This means that they are treated as currency rather than a threshold to meet.
Yeah, I thought it was *really* weird that he kept going on about whether or not LP was gonna be a consumable resource, when, like, it's listed as a *required resource,* which seems pretty clearly that it's consumed along with the ingredients, otherwise being able to sell ingredients for LP would be pointless, you sell things for currency, not points that unlock things at certain thresholds, if there were various mechanics that just got you LP and it wasn't a currency you *expend* there would be no reason to ever *sell* the ingredients for more, since you'd be better off just doing the normal gameplay things that wrack up the points.

Regarding the picnic eggs, my takeaway from that section was that the egg was already present when the trainer got there. Like it had been left there, not actively bred into existence from the trainer's own Pokemon.
If that's the case, I expect possible mechanics might include a list of eggs to choose from per picnic site, a chance to spawn, and possibly a restriction or timer on how often they can show up.
It's possible, but I don't think so. If I remember correctly, at the end of the picnic section, we see the trainer cleaning up the picnic site/we see the picnic site shrink and then disappear, so I don't think it's limited to specific locations, and more something you can do wherever, which would mean that it can't have been left. I might be wrong of course, but that's my take on it.

I just hope this isn't *instead* of some form of normal breeding mechanics, like if the *only* way to get eggs was from the picnic mechanic, that would be annoying.

I think the rock mushroom thing is a truffle. Lechonk is modeled after a truffle pig so I wonder if you'll search for the truffle pokemon using lechonk

Maybe not need lechonk but you can find them together? Like how paldean wooper is found with poison types, pokemon definitely needs to connect the pokemon more to help the world feel alive. The searching would be cool though if they do that.
This trailer totally leaned into the fact that we will scrutinize EVERY second they show, even the intro imo was worded in a way to imply the knowledge the community had prior to official conformation

@@iceman3317 I'm pretty sure they know about the leaks. However the lady said that right after talking about how in this game we go on a journey called the Treasure Hunt, which was something that was talked about during the second or third trailer. Heck, I'm pretty sure it was this same lady that talked about that in that trailer. This was basically "You probably already know what I just mentioned because I talked about it in a previous trailer, so let's talk about something new."
Before the part with the TM Machine, you can see the player finding a "wild" TM, triggering the notification that they are now able to craft that very TM. So it's safe to say that TMs are single-use.
It also says "A single TM can be used only once" next to him the entire time he's pondering that.
Yes, like TRs. We can also probably find them for free in some places.

Lol, maybe they'll bring back forgettable HMs as the permanent TMs this time 😂 at least we can create as many as we want. Craftable TMs is better than none, and maybe it'll have them make better attacks into TMs since all good TMs were TRs last time, for the most part
Personally I think the engine itself is the Pokémon and it powers the rest of the car. The official artwork of the car makes the engine looks almost octopus/squid-like so maybe it attaches itself to machines like a non-ghost rotom.
I love the idea of throwing out all ur pokemon against the evil team. Seems like a lot of fun I hope it has endgame levels and not just a few times per playthrough

I just realized that Girifarig can learn Recycle, so if you use that in tandem with Cudchew you have a nearly UNLIMITED healing options, by which you only need to use once every three turns.
Seems to me that League Points function just like Watts from Sw/Sh as a currency you spend when crafting, just like how you could spend Watts to buy TRs and other items from vendors in the Wild Area. Also, I think the video showed the option of crafting multiples of TMs at a time, so they definitely seem to be single use items.
The text right next to his head when talking about TMs explicitly say they are single use.
For the Eggs found at picnics, I honestly think you'll find random eggs unrelated to your Pokémon, and this mechanic will remain separate from a traditional breeding system that will continue to be in the games.

@@EthanPHX even if, then if the only way to get eggs is from these picnics there has to be a way to deliberately get what eggs you want, there's no way they're replacing normal breeding with some random system because players would rage, lol

@@EthanPHX Even if daycare was cut, that doesn't mean that some variation on the normal breeding mechanic was cut. I just really hope that the picnics aren't that variation. I wish pokemon would stop trying to make cooking mini-games a thing, like I don't mind their inclusion, per se, and I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy them enough for them to keep including them, but I hate that they keep trying to make them more and more important. At least this time it doesn't seem to include spinning a joystick, that was the absolute *worst*.
@@VelvetCake423 Yes. They are leaks. The entire game was leak way before. Every pokemon, every name, everything has been known. The Daycare has been cut and this is the only way to get eggs. This is the breeding. This is not some random egg from a list you can get.
2:00 I think the reason it looks 'weird' is that the trailer is probably filmed in a special dev build where you can move assets, and turn off stuff so it doesn't get in the way. The one clip with all the Pokemon on the minimap was likely a simple error where the person forgot to turn the wild encounters off for one shot and that hid in-plain-sight the whole time.
In the Japanese trailer those Pokémon doesn’t show on the mini map, so I don’t think actual Pokémon will show up on there, also the Japanese trailer is much better than the English one (as you can see with the Sunfloras being more smooth )
or perhaps it was on purpose since I doubt they would've missed that through quality checks

Ceruledge and Armarouge being version exclusive split evolutions makes a lot of sense, kinda like Appletun and Flapple maybe?
Maybe it's just like how applin evolves, so you need a certain item to evolve it but the item and evolution is different depending on the version of game

I think the eggs randomly appearing in picnics is like how in SWSH sometimes random wild pokemon would appear in camp- not the replacement for daycares
Sword/Shield's Camp/Curry mechanic had a chance for Wild Pokemon to wander into your camp that you could befriend and catch. I assumed this Picnic Pokemon egg system is the same as that, but you get a local Pokemon's eggs instead of a grown wild Pokemon in the area you're in.
Why is this the first time I've heard of this chance mechanic maybe because I don't use the very much or for long hmmm

What if the egg in the basket is a breeding method for Tera types? The egg could belong to one of the Pokémon in the party and have a Tera type corresponding to one on the Pokémon in the party as well.

I think it would be nice to have a separate slot for an egg so you don't have to have a five pokemon team
I hope Overworld Shinys return but there should be a warning tab when your pokemon is about to autobattle a shiny giving you the option to cancel them auto battling to catch the Shiny.
Since battles happen in the overworld like in legends arceus, there’s no way over-world shinies aren’t returning. It would be weird to transition into battle and have the pokemon randomly change color as you’re looking at it lol

I think the egg at the picnic is either random or like you were theorizing 2 Pokémon in your party made the egg, but I don’t think this will be the exclusive method of getting eggs just an alternate way of getting them outside of the typical day care system.

Probably replacing the system of a wild pokemon appearing in your camp.
The mushroom Pokemon seems like it is probably the earlier leaked rock type that was described as "salt cubes that look like they are from minecraft". The mouse I think was in those earlier leaks as well. I think the two mice are actually just one pokemon since in the leaks it was a pair of mice that supposedly evolve into a full family of mice.
The one thing that I haven't seen anyone cover, is that with the Team Star boss battles we've been shown thus far, ONLY THE FIRST THREE Pokémon in your party can participate. MEANING, you'll NEED to use strategy to your advantage to win these fights.

@@borkborkbork1144 It was a very quick "blink and you'll miss it" kinda deal. Right in front of the gate where the trainer walked up to it and initiated the fight between them and Team Star.

I wonder if it is a slight misunderstanding.. having to do a horde of 30 pokemon and then a boss is already a fair amount of chip damage and pp depletion... if you only have 3 pokemon it might be difficult (if you don't do potions or pp restores cuz that'll trivialize it..)

They also potentially revealed the pre-evolution of the engine Pokémon, which can be seen on the side of the car.
If you can only see a shiny once you actually encounter the Pokémon, then the “shiny encounter” might be interesting. I say this because if your Pokémon auto-attacks and kills a shiny, you might see your shiny encounter go up by one. In that case, maybe you can restart the game and actually encounter it. Idk just a theory 🥸 excited to see how shiny hunting works here :)
The egg system was super RNG based in previous generations for IVs but this new system seems even more RNG based. I'm concerned about breeding for "perfect pokemon" which I really like to do

I’m concerned as well… I want to grind for a shiny Mankey for my journey… idk how to do that now
I suspect it’ll lean towards becoming easier and easier to breed or create Pokémon with perfect stats. That’s how has been going from generation to generation anyways. If breeding isn’t possible then I suspect there more access to tweaking IVs after the fact. Maybe bottle caps become more readily available or some other item/mechanism is introduced. The note about “shiny Pokémon battled” on the league card would definitely imply that they are going to be more abundant than in past games. I’ve put 100s of hours into SW over the years and haven’t battled a shiny Pokémon yet. I haven’t been targeting any specifically, but it still seems like a weird thing to put on the profile if it was going to be “0” for 99% of the community.
I think at least some of us are concerned about that
@@natehawk4386 In Sword and Shield, you can easily get bottle caps. (Digging duo, cram-o-matic, max raid adventure, or battle tower). Breeding in Sword and Shield has been amazing! I hope SV does not ruin breeding.
Austin John Play is correct about the LP cost for crafting the TMs. In the trailer, at the 5:06 marker, you can see the points being spent when the trainer crafts Icy Wind. Great stuff man. Always enjoy the content.
I’m not sure why people seem to be assuming that the picnic egg thing is the main/only way to breed Pokémon, as some comments are talking about being worried about that (as did Austin when he mentioned it in the video). To me, this just reads as an extra cool way to get random eggs. I’m sure there will be a regular breeding method as well, for more specific breeding, which is a core part of the series

thing is a very credible leaker (whos other stuff was already shown in trailers) told us that regular breeding wont be in these games so unless there are two new ways of getting eggs this is the only way.

At about 5 min into the new trailer, you can see a trainer spend league points to build a TM. They are also presumably single use because the TM machine asked how many TMs to build.
I think the pokemon were left in by mistake; if you look at the japanese trailer the pokemon on the minimap are gone and the framerate issues during the gym challenge are absent as well. I think the US trailers used an older build and goofed up.
You're right. It also shows a Paldean Wooper through the entire picnic sequence instead of randomly turning it into a Johtonian Wooper halfway through.
I think the single use TMs are actually fine with this new system, since Let's Go allows you to passively gather materials constantly while you play. Grinding for TMs you need should be easy, and it gives more value to battling beyond just exp and possibly money.
The picnic egg is just a fun little extra to make the thing more realistic. The main mechanic or even a better one will be present for sure because this game has a huge competitive scene and hacked pokemons are (in theory) not allowed. I don't see them hurting the scene and community on purpose.
Girafarig is one of my favorite Pokémon, and it's evolution Farigiraf does not disappoint :)

My understanding of pickinc eggs was that they are random eggs you just happen to find where you set up camp? Kind of how random Pokemon could wander into your Pokepelago in gen 7 games and you could claim them if you wanted.

I think the ones that showed up in the minimap were on accident. Mainly because they weren't in the Japanese trailer. The Japanese trailer showed a slightly different shot in which the minimap shows no icons.

When I saw the icons in your reaction video I considered the possibility they could be announcing a mass outbreak for those pokemon somewhere in the map. It was the first thing I thought of when seeing them, in Legends Arceus they used icons of the pokemon to represent the outbreaks but I don’t remember these icons being shown in the minimap so it just may be wishful thinking because I would love for the mass outbreak feature to return in this game but I still felt it was something worth mentioning.
Regarding the TMs, there's something I noticed in the TM craft screen. Did you see the number of the Helping Hand TM on the bottom right? TM130?? Does this mean we're gonna have an even bigger list of TMs than before?
the big purple thing with bright yellow eyes might actually be a paldean chinchou! the antenna looks fairly similar to chinchou's normal antenna as well and their eyes.

The egg in the picnic is basically your personal day care that you can carry around without the need to go back to specyfic location over and over again. Instead you start picnic and get eggs the same way as from day care. However i do belive the egg will be either made randomly between available pokemon who match the egg groups (wich i think is fun for casual play but pointless otherwise) or first two pokemon in the lead will make egg possible to appear if they match properly.
Whatever the case you can just bring 2 pokemon with you in the party and hatch the mon you desire the old fashined way. Though on the other hand it might be more tiresome to swap them in and out with pokemon that has Flame Body. Not sure how they are going to make it work smoothly but i guess we will have to wait and see.
That rookidee in the back is real so those HAS to be real pokemon! Which I am excited for!!
In your trailer reaction video, you can see that you do have to spend League Points for the TMs. They buy Icy wind and the League Points go down by 800.
I haven't seen anyone mention that Wooper was its normal blue variant in the video at 11 minutes. Transferring one in isn't surprising, but in a game where a regional variant is being introduced it's odd to see a normal one in the trailer.
Both are in the game aren't they? Normal diglet and wiglet are both included. But I think that specific shot was a mistake since it is supposed to be the paldean one.

Just a thought I had... If eggs are moving to this picnic method and it gets rid of everyones fav shiny method, I feel like this greatly infers to overworld shiny pokemon like Legends. I don't think we had eggs there and yet we were all shiny hunting overworld non-stop.
I think breeding is more important for competitive iv/ev training. Unless they are adding a way to alter iv/ev of caught pokemon directly thus making it super easy to set up competitive teams.
@@nerdycurls6253 true, but with bottle caps it’s already pretty easy for perfect IVs. If they could just now give us an item for zero IVs then we’d never need breeding for competitive really.

Did you notice during the picnic segment the wooper started out Paldean and then later it was a normal wooper? What if you can clean it off and it goes back to it's original form??

Yeah!! Very strange, it's more interesting than a simple variant I guess. Definitely different.
For the sandwiches at the start, it looks like they put (sm)olive oil, salt, and pepper before anything else, which if you haven’t tried that irl it’s delicious do it, but maybe there will be specific spices/oils you get from Pokémon that impact the stats the sandwich gives
Really like watching your breakdown videos go really in debt finding new Pokemon and take a whole new spin what we may or may not have for the new Pokemon game
The way I look at the TM crafting is if the League Points were "9662/400", I would assume they would be a finite resource. However, since the unknown crafting material says "0/3" and the LP just says 400, my guess is that it's just a checkpoint you have to cross in order you to craft it so you can't have certain moves until some progress has been made.
Edit: Also, while they were showing off the TM crafting, on the left during Charm, Aerial Ace, and Icy Wind is a picture of a different Hariyama.
Watch the new trailer at the 5 min mark. The trainer spends LP to craft s TM.
At 2:50 the Pokémon hidden behind the UI looks like a Chinchou to me, so much that I would be angry at any new Pokémon design that re-uses the clearly identifiable traits of Chinchou. To me you can mostly see the body shape, the yellow tail fin, the eyes and the two antenna that almost match Chinchou 100%
I do see what you mean but it’s completely different to Chinchou unless possibly a hidden regional variant?? The colouring is all different and Chinchou has a single blob for a body this thing looks like 2 blobs one yellow one white guess some kind of bug type from the design

i don't think so, b/c the antenna for the mystery pokemon have smaller...orbs or whatever at the end and they are thinner and kind of bent towards the top. plus Chinchou has + symbols on its eyes, but the mystery pokemon doesn't appear to. it also looks like it has an orange/yellow shell or something behind its head...

10:40 I'm guessing that certain materials for higher tier TMs will be locked to a certain area so my guess is that you won't be able to have busted moves before the first gym.

Another thing to add is that on the website it mentions that you can picnic with others and get eggs from your pokemon and yours. That sounds like a new shiny hunting method to me

From what we saw in the TMs and Arceus Legends I feel like the Mushroom rock might be a place to gather resources.

For the TM Machine, I noticed the TMs are sorted in numerical order, and numbers are skipped (10, 12, 15...). I don't think the grinding aspect for LP in exchange for more powerful TMs will be broken.. it looks like TMs will have to be unlocked over time, or how you progress in your story mode(s). :)

The Mario Mushroom thing is supposed to be a Three stage salt based Pokémon according to leaks.

In the trailer, when Icy Wind is purchased you see League Points go from 5,000 to 4,200 and the cost of the TM being 800 LP so I assume that means they have to be spent.

While I’m kinda sad that TMs are back to single use as I loved the QoL Infinite use TMs since Gen 5 I am happy that at least they can be crafted instead of “Welp, just used it on a Mon that apparently could normally learn it..” I learned that one the hard way in Gen 4 with Ice Beam…So hey at least we technically have infinite TMs just in a inconvenient way, also I’m really happy my Giraffe boy will finally be able to evolve.

One thing I noticed on the website is that the Farigirafs in the pictures describing it’s abilities are different sizes. Maybe some individual Pokémon will be bigger? Or maybe you can catch the Titan Pokémon?

The white Pokémon with the antenna looks a lot like Chinchou! It’s probably a regional form if I had to guess (which would make sense why they would put it in the same photo as the new Woooer form).
*Cud Chew* works somewhat like how I thought *Cheek Pouch* (CP) should. Basically I envisioned CP to allow the user to hold 2 berries simultaneously (much like how the cheek pouches of actual mammals are used for storing extra food for later). So when the user consumes 1 berry, it'd have another 1 automatically waiting in reserve. The berries can be different, in order to mix & match effects. But of course, I think new berries w/ new effects should've also been added, to make the ability more viable. And Pokemon w/ this ability should learn certain moves (by level up), that'd synergize w/ them. Moves that allow users to consume the berries of others (like: *Bug Bite* & *Pluck* ), & restore items (like *Recycle* ), would be ideal. Maybe this idea could be incorporated as a new ability called *Double Pouch* (or simply *Duo Pouch* or *Cheek Pouches* ).

I kind of get why the breeding/egg finding mechanic has changed. In a normal playthrough of pokemon, a player would probably never leave pokemon in a day care, especially as the games have gotten easier and there's no reason to leave them there to level up. Now, there's a good chance the average player might come across a couple eggs. I do wonder how shiny hunting and competitive breeding is gonna work, but they've presumably thought of that.
This is how I'd rather get my eggs looks more fun and casual, but I do hope both versions are available. I know it's really important to alot of players. Feel bad for them if they loose that.
