These EMS mnemonics have shaped the way that I practiced and teach EMTs and Paramedics. When you are in EMT school, you will learn some basics mnemonics like: SAMPLE, OPQRST, and AEIOU TIPS.
These mnemonics I cover in this video ensure that you are covering all your bases when treating EMS patients. I want to give a shoutout to one of my educational mentors, John Bielinski Jr, PA-C who was the origin of some of these mnemonics I present here.
These EMS mnemonics like AAC, PAPPA, HORID, RR OWL, give you a way to fully evaluate your emergency patient quickly and efficiently. Using some of these mnemonics when I was a new paramedic helped me tremendously in ride time and when I was precepting under senior medics.
I now want to pass these on to you, if you enjoy these mnemonics please pass them on to a partner or student it will help elevate our EMS care.
If you are new here, welcome to The Paramedic Coach channel and podcast, where I teach and discuss EMS education and training.
    Be great,
    Evan, The Paramedic Coach®

Evan, I've been watching your videos for over a year now. I had taken my NREMT 3 times and failed. After reviewing your content repeatedly and studying I had the courage to take it again. I passed just yesterday and I'm excited! At times I did get discouraged but I remembered believing was the first step to achieving. You gave me the motivation to keep trying. Thank you for your support and your belief in us. It helped beyond measures in my life!

AEIOU-TIPS is good but I prefer SSSSNOT or 4-Snot.
Sugar, stroke, sepsis, seizure, narcan, oxygen, trauma.

Some of these acronyms have gone out of style in EMT schools. They are essential to critical thinking and patient care but for some reason the schools are not focusing on that anymore

@@FlankerJackChannel I feel schools in general (not all) are focused on teaching people how to pass tests vs treating patients

@@Rob_James it's getting worse at the national registry level with paramedic. Everything is didactic and there are no psychomotor requirements anymore.

Does your online courses offer AEMT specific content?
I've taken registry twice, and didn't pass both times. Near passing on everything, and passed airway. So I'm not far off from passing. Just wish I could figure out where I'm messing up.
