    Charlie,
    Man thanks for taking the time when you felt like crud to film this video and giving us the look up the skirt, lol. It has taken me many years of trial and effort to work through my skit and sort out what items really are handy, which just hitch a free ride for seasons on end, and which items truly are indispensable! What I found interesting is that we have thinned our kit down to almost the same core items more or less, which for a somewhat newcomer of only four or five years now tells me I’m on to something, although being a retired blown up Iraq/Afghan vet I spend a LOT of time on the water. Thanks for showing the bugs you are carrying on your home water as well as storage and organization of those bugs because that’s where I struggled to find what worked for me the most when I got started. Lastly, thanks for showing and sharing the memory of your boy. I’ve thought about that myself often since learning about it and having kids about the same age as yours, and it takes a lot of courage to share that with people that don’t know you and didn’t know him on a personal level. In short, thanks for being a hero and inspiration to some of us and thanks for all of the videos, education, and time you’ve taken to answer me over the past several years of my therapeutic journey into fly tying and fishing. Keep on rockin’ Charlie!

    Thanks Charlie. I love videos like this because it makes me feel like one of the guys. The only difference between me and you is that my flies are uglier than……..well, you get the idea. But they do catch fish which is all that matters. Have a great Father’s Day.

    Oh my God I never saw as many cool flys in one pack. I dig the rainbow foam inserts in the everything box, it seemed to highlight all the details in the fly patterns. For years I thought maybe the European fly anglers had more better flys, not anymore! Thanks for sharing your stuff on TH-cam.

    I enjoyed this WAY too much. I'm no marketing expert, but you should have this list of gear on your home page! I know I bought quite a few items after seeing this 😁

    @3:38, I used to use those exact same nippers but no longer do, as the needle would always come out and poke me. I carry them in my vest as a backup but now use the Abel nippers which they also have a built in needle but it’s inside the nippers so you can’t get pricked by them. Not as useful as the Angler’s Image ones but still work to clear the hook eye when clogged with head cement.

    Thanks for doing the video. The fire starter is a unique thing to have in the pack. One thing to add especially for summer fishing is that sunscreen for reapplying......

    Hi, Charlie. Please make a short TH-cam video on the proper way to use a stomach pump. When you suggested you might consider doing so, I figured I’d express my vote in favor of. I enjoyed this video. Thanks!

      This may be different but I use Umpqua's Wonder Cloth. Being an Umpqua signature tyer, I would assume Charlie uses a lot of Umpqua products as you can tell by his leaders, floatant, boxes, and tippet.

    If anyone is interested in keeping scissors in your pack that won't cut/poke you or your stuff, bandage scissors (aka trauma shears) are perfect. Walmart sells a really cheap mini-sized model that's perfect. Plus, they'll be there if you need to cut anything in an emergency situation.

    • @flyfisher66048

      Great suggestion! Thanks

    • @CharliesFlyBox
      @CharliesFlyBox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like a sharp point/fine tipped pair of scissors for trimming flies. Trauma scissors would be fine for cutting yarn though.

    • @realityobservationalist7290
      @realityobservationalist7290 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharliesFlyBox , yes, that would be the only downside to trauma shears. I saw your tube protector, a great idea.

    How is the Dry Magic anchored in place?

    • @CharliesFlyBox
      @CharliesFlyBox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That little gadget was called a Magic Cloth. It has a built in pocket to hold the Dry Magic but they don’t seem to be made anymore. We do sell a Dry Magic Holder that’s a tube style holder and you can attach a wonder cloth to it separately.
