This is hilarious. My high school science teacher actually reminds me of Maynard so much. Great dude. One of the few teachers that felt real to me and who showed personality, which made me pay attention to what he had to say despite not really feeling for the subject matter at all.
I can picture him wearing a white button up shirt with a tie, holding a clipboard as he walks around checking out his students.

I'm 36 years old. My uncles were in a band in the 80's and 90's and they played tool so I've been listening to tool damn near my whole life. I remember the time i got to meet Maynard in Jacksonville years back, it was like a 2 or 3 hour line to meet him for a wine signing and when i get to the front hes sitting there with his head down quietly signing bottles...i try to make conversation...nothing! Eric Talkington it depends what kind of rock you like I prefer Tool so I prefer maynards singing and vocals his voice is so unique and effortless and I just love it idk its hard to explain

Wow. First time hearing Maynard in an interview. What a nice, down to earth, talented and intelligent guy.
I just barely watched/listened to the Maynard episode that came out two days ago and thought the exact same thing. My friends and I listened to Opiate and Undertow over and over and over again throughout high school --- '93, '94, '95 --- and to see him act so casual and silly, but still remarkably intelligent and on point, was amazing.
So now here I am watching this episode, ha!

Appreciate the sentiment. I'm glad they talked like 5-10% about MJK's bands, and the rest was martial arts, pain remedies, culinary stuff, hunting, boars. It's a perfect JRE podcast. MJK, Bill Burr & Henry Rollins are my top guests to enjoy listening to. When Tool fans complain about waiting 13 years for new music, they forget the band members got other shit too. MJK is a renaissance man, he's got his 20 fingers in every pie imaginable. We should just be happy MJK & his banda make music at all. Just be happy & enjoy life if possible.

He clearly isn't much of a Tool fan. Kind of a shame, there are a lot of primal things about Tool that he could get into.

I know right all have amazing jobs outside of TOOL
I just remembered the "good ol' days" spent in the infamous Toolchat.net some 20+ years ago.. (fuck me! time flies..).. where, rarely, a band member wold pop up and everyone would flip their shit.. The questions were being asked so fast, or better yet, there were so many people asking questions, that looking at the monitor would cause epileptic seizures. Camella, Adam's first wife, used to visit quite a bit, she seemed very sweet and easy to talk to, and so was Adam. I do remember his favorite Teletubby was the red one. That was one of the questions he chose to give answer to.
Around that time they would do sort of a pre-podcast type thing, could've been that they were streaming it from some radio station in Hollywood.. the whole band was there, drinking beer n shooting shit and also reading the questions fans kept typing and then mostly not answering them, of course.
I remember they just kept joking, they were quite funny actually.. Having them all here at Joe's should make for one interesting episode. I'm pretty sure the fans would break the internet.
