First new song I've heard this year that is timeless, in any genre. I love the unique style. Whispering and mumbling, then belting it out with rasp. Awesome.
I completely understand the sentiment, but I feel like his music deserves a big stadium. Can you imagine the riffs in a place filled with tens of thousands of people going crazy? I imagine something like the live aid concerts in the 80s 😂
@stunalife yeah true that, I saw him once in May which was a small intimate show and it was magical and mysterious, and then I saw him again in October and it was a hyped up rock show, still with the ambiance and mystery but the energy levels turned up to max

Not trying to be dismissive, and I think it's really great that he's using guitar in this way, but all I could hear was Summer of '69. Which is cool because all music comes from somewhere and I think it's really important to acknowledge and embrace the past. And even though I often feel like everything has been done before there will always be ways to make things new and fresh, and I do think this is a pretty fresh take.

He’s not really subverting the mainstream. I don’t hear him on the radio, I don’t hear people in real life talking about him. Grunge was cultural in a way that you might not understand if you weren’t alive at the time.
I’ve got an old Alesis Wedge reverb from back around 1998 in my studio that can sound that horribly muddy without even trying. I wonder if that is what he is using. I also recently threw away three Alesis ADAT recorders that haven’t worked properly in 20 years. They did make some cool gear though before they went out of business.

This was very interesting. At the end the lights came up and we could see the other players better. There was a man on the left that seemed to be live programming drums and possibly bass lines on something like Audition Pro, playing samples and keys maybe. Anyway, he was bending over very far and when I saw him I thought if he was really playing while standing that way his back gotta hurt a lot. Poor digi bro.
I found him right when two star and the dream police dropped and Ive been fixated ever since. He is a genius songwriter and producer. So glad he’s getting the attention he deserves.
