i listened to this song when me and the mother of my child broke up and all those feels came rushing back: when we first met, our first kiss, our first intimate moment and our first child and honestly it was the hardest year of my life. One day sent her this video with the lyrics attached and she said she cried cause she thought about the same things: that was 5 yrs ago we now have 2 kids and are doing great getting married in OCT and I owe it all to metal and Killswitch Engage! 15 years later and I have no idea why this album is so overlooked.
It isn't as heavy as the two previous KsE albums with Howard and also since the new producer (Brendan O'Brien) took the lead, so Adam probably had to step back a bit. However, when I first heard this record, I really enjoyed it. It was something a bit different.

MAPLE SYRUP oh so I guess rapping is super cool when all you do in rapping is bitching or bragging about your life, there’s no soul in it, it’s all the same shit, it’s either about all the criminal shit you’ve done, or how much fucking money you have or all the same generic I suffered as a kid shit, Metal is nothing like that and it’s not always screaming, metal can be about anything and it actually has heart and soul to it, not like rapping which 95% of it is garbage, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent even said in a interview that most of rap is the same shit and they’re completely right, rap does not take talent, end of story

Jones is the single reason I got into this type of music. Since he left KSE, it hasn't been the same for me. I've discovered other groups but I miss the KSE sound with Jones. His voice gave songs an epic quality.

Could never thank KSE enough for this song, when this was released I had just broken up with my first girlfriend and felt devastated, stayed home feeling depressed for about a year, but this song made me change the way i thinked and I started going to the gym and lost weight and got healthy, it was like I was reborn.
Since then KSE has been my faovourite band of all time!

I wouldn't say "complete masterpieces". Their only album I enjoy end to end is "As Daylight Dies" but I guess that's just me. In my opinion their newest album is their worst.

I love it opening to close, but if you asked me to rank their albums, this one goes last every time. Not saying its bad in any way, but just my least favorite of theirs.
I would not say it's bad but compared to As Daylight Dies, Alive or Just Breathing, The End of Heartache would only be the last of the list.

Possibly one of the most underrated songs from KSE, Howards vocal are so nuanced and brilliant, if it had been on one of the earlier albums would have been a classic

The entire album that this song came from ("Alive Or Just Breathing") is good. I can listen to the entire thing without skipping any songs. It's one of only 2 albums that I can listen to all the way through (the other is "Black Gives Way To Blue" by Alice In Chains). 🤟

I mean if Howard never came this band would never have gone to new heights from '02 til his departure. I couldn’t imagine some other vocalist in Howard’s spot except Jesse, Jesse is awesome. I mean Phil from All That Remains tried out for auditions but Howard got the spot, thank God.
Howard is better at singing. Jesse is better at screaming. But both are good at both. Hard to say that they would have never reached the heights that they reached if it weren't for Howard because nobody knows that. Even before Howard joined they put out Alive or Just Breathing and that album was (and still is) considered to be one of the greatest metalcore albums ever made, and most people still consider it their best album. Both vocalists are amazing.

You should check out the Jamey Jasta podcast interview with Howard Jones. Howard goes into so much detail of all his struggles with depression and being suicidal while in kse. Its pretty intense.

for me it's the breakdown in "for you", a very coarse contrast to the rest of the song and it just uses the super heavy build up perfectly, i miss the good old days, of albums like as daylight days
