@@southerncharity7928 - maybe for you. The overwhelming amount of streaming shows/videos are still 1080p, and vidoeconferencing is either 1080p or even 720p.
Wow! Excellent review! I watched Røde's when it dropped and was like...meh, hard pass! Watching yours from an actual user perspective...shut up and take my money! Truly well done.
I like the unit and all its functions but I don't like that it's HDMI at a long distance the HDMI tends to fail. I would have liked them to release a Pro SDI connections version
3-band parametric EQ is suboptimal. Hopefully, they can add at least one more band. Noise reduction would be good, too, but it may not have enough processing power to do that internally. It also needs a macro capability.
Can DJI make one and kill the game? Like control camera setting via controller plus connectivity with DJI mic and live connection with osmo and action cam ?
The Atem mini pro can’t do the 80% of this little beast from Rode. Just to mention some features: Audio quality top, Scene Mode (PERFECT), real Super Source with multiple layers, Xlr capabilities, audio processing live (Compressor, eq, de-esser etc), auto-switching, wireless connections with microphone, 6 (SIX) usbc connections, a powerful software for media and overlay and scenes editing. Really compare that two?
@@matteo_fiocco I wouldn’t use any of that in my productions, wonder how many others would be and if that all wonder at 1080p sounds like a total own goal
I like the fact that it is all contained in a physical device where you push buttons and not work in a software. For me the other big advantage is all of the processing is taking place on the Rodecaster. I am on a Mac so that may have been part of the problem but I'd set up multiple cameras and my computer locked up in the middle of a Zoom meeting. Since then I prefer devices that carry the work load rather than using my computers processing power. But OBS with a StreamDeck is amazing. You could also set this up for a non-tech person and they could run it smoothly.
The one thing I failed to mention was that this is a 1080 switcher. Most live events are still in 1080 but if you need 4k, this won’t cut it.
1080 only in 2024 is a dealbreaker

Welllllll for that price I would expect 4K for future proofing.
That sucks. Shame
By any chance does the printer still work?

This would have been awesome for the corona live video days.
I have owned tow ATEMs. They both stopped frunctioning after 18 months. ATEM products seem to be crap.
1080p in 2024 just doesn't cut it for me. I'm happy keeping my Atem mini pro
Atem mini pro is 1080 too… Most broadcast applications are still using 1080.
Can it record straight onto a hard drive the way an ATEM switcher can? If not, i don't see the point of it.

Can an iphone be used for a camera on the RODECaster Video, especially multi phones?
1080p in 2024? No thanks.
Yeah, It cannot do more......
1080p not 4K is the killer here - a 4 year old ATEM Mini Pro can do most of this for less money.

@@thatcherfreeman that was the point. The bar there hasn’t been lifted in half a decade.
What I haven’t seen is, can we use the usb c plugs for webcam sources?
You can use 2 webcams but only UVC webcams. Not sure what that means.
Why not just use OBS? Obviously, this will have some unique case advantages.
Partially agree, still need a Rodecaster Duo for my needs
One is software only. You still need devices that bring the hardware in. This solution puts it all into a simple package.
