    My mate, a tough lad from Llanelli asked Mr Doak to trAin his youngest daughter in real self defence. Mr Doak agreed, visited the house for fifteen afternoons and gave her three hours training each time on the back lawn. Taught her some real and brutal self defence and wouldn't take a penny for his time. The girls mum was disabled and she helped care for her. Mr Doak was a true gentleman.

      I've taken Aikido and BJJ and wrested in high school a bit. I can see how technical he is , not wasting any movement. an in depth understanding of skeletal mechanics. this is great stuff.

      That is a true demonstration of the spirit of martial arts!! So often now being a bad ass is the only focus (mma- at least it’s image) and while that is truly important to a warrior- so is the soft power he demonstrated with his character!😎

    The man is a legend. I'm proud to say he trained me for a short time in Neath. Even though he was in ill health he was turning up at the dojo and still teaching. Wish I could have spent more time with this incredible sensei.

    First met Billy at a Jujitsu and Judo seminar in Birmingham. Travelled to Llanelli to spend a few days at his classes afterwards and experienced knowledge and skills I'll never forget. He was such a humble man who made time for people whenever he could. Much missed.

    Now here is a sensei who knew jujutsu through and through. I really admire not only his attention to detail but also his insistence on caring for one's partner when practicing dangerous techniques. It only takes one serious injury in this art to put an end to it all. I am sure half the injuries I sustained in my martial arts journey could have been prevented with the right instruction. You cannot respect enough a man like the late Billy Doak.

    As a long time bjj'er I really like Billy's grappling techniques. Very direct and to the point with good transitions from move to move. Sometimes bjj can get so overly detailed that you cant remember moves. These seem very easy to remember

    • @lambosnicko
      @lambosnicko ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats why you practice. You don’t learn all the details the first time you learn a technique. Get a base for the move, then you work on the details over time. Also im yet to see half of these “brutal techniques” put into practice with resistance or against a bigger stronger aggressor.

  • @Hanshi64

    Sensei Morgan, first off along me to offer you my deepest condolences on such an obviously irreplaceable loss. I never had the pleasure to meet your Shihan but he was very respected in our JJ circles. I have been a student of old style JJ for almost 48 yrs and a teacher for almost 36 of them and also a Hachidan. This was one of the best presented seminars and wazas I have ever had the distinct honor and pleasure to watch.His Yudansha Shareen I believe is her name is she related to him as well in someway, it seems, that a young lady of the skill set is often related as a wife or daughter or something of that nature. She has certainly done a great job as did you Sensei Morgan His wazas were done with conviction, safety,impunity and a great deal of love for his students and the art. Your black belts Yudansha's are what black belts should look like and act like. I am very impressed Shihan Morgan. Arigato Gozaimasu for sharing. Regarding other ridculous comments here, I am not even going to take the time to debate or address. well done Sir fantastic job.

      That was his wife. She got kicked out of her parents and he took her in and trained her and then started...you know...and they got married.
      She got to keep everything he had just by being a woman. Women have it easier than men I personally think but that's what makes us men because of the hardship and if a man isn't in hardship of anything then he's a vag boy in my opinion.

    This Sensei looks like an awesome teacher with some great knowledge. I have done some Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Aikido and BJJ. My issue with Jui Jitsu and Aikido is that both of them is they are great once I have an arm. But when sparring full speed full contact it is so hard to trap or catch an arm. Does anyone have insight on how to improve the chances or to lead an opponent into giving an arm without them realising it?

    • @kudaro1
      @kudaro1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to my sensei it's all about learning to absorb a punch literally, gaining control of an arm might means to take the hit in an acceptable amount of force but after making contact that's when you can control it and follow up with locks, projections, etc.

    • @fgsf9
      @fgsf9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn i feel bad bad i coulda offered advice but the main way to catch punches is stay at the end of them point blank is u need to learn " kumi kata" a form of engagement basically u need to learn to learn to not catch da arms but get ur hips close to his hips ....and if he punches this isnt grappling look at it as him extending period.....i do daito ryu but over all ill say this 100% against a wrestler moves like mine n akido is much harder they wont extend but my guy theres so many other moves even if we go by judo 67 moves basically .....my guy theres many ways to atk someone balance u just gota learn the real thing n try to master being a uke cuz thats where alot of da Japanese magic is at yeilding to force ......lastly btw dont take a hit to give a hit thats wrestler mentality sure tho if u got to bit down etc but i think defense first with out defense u got no health bar n ur throws should come from getting closer ..... Daito ryu akido has moves like kote geisha but like wrist locks are kinda dick ish unless in real situations anyways stick to learning da clench and learning how to get control of his arm try to drill slow even against better guys it will help true da process n hopefully u dont try n get into a fight to try these moves 😅🙏🏽💯

      I've been trying to analyze BJJ for some time now. One conclusion I've drawn is that BJJ is really Kosen Judo except BJJ is dirtier in the sense of not following the standard Judo rules. The second difference and primary reason I don't like BJJ is that it's more like street fighting whereas Kosen Judo, or Judo in general is more academic. I've noticed that many BJJ players don't care about bowing in or opening a class formerly as in Judo. I find that most BJJ fighters are less educated than true Judo lovers. Despite this, I have met some real scum bag Judo players and real nice BJJ players. In addition, BJJ can be pretty wicked and I fear it may one day overcome both Kosen and Kodokan Judo. The Gracie's may have proven this. As far as conditioning Kodokan is the least rigorous, next BJJ and Kosen is the most rigorous of all. For now, Kodokan Judo seems to have the edge only because fights begin standing and a professional throw can seal the deal.

    • @Seegie16
      @Seegie16 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original style are more cloer to gracie jiujitsu though. Real classical jiujitsu from the 1800's to early 19.00's had all these self defense moves but also a complete ground grappling system. What you are seeing here is incomplete modern jiujitsu not classical at all.

      twice_baked potato it is the classical ju jitsu and not incomplete modern ju jitsu. My Sensei went to Japan and they said he style of ju jitsu he teaches is the classic original style from the beginning and they haven't seen it for many years. You obviously don't know much about ju jitsu if that what you think.

      Well your sensei is wrong and what they are practicing when he went to japan is wrong too. Its a modern bastardazation of the japanes jiuitsu that was taught in the late 1800's through early 1900's. Somewhere around the 1910's the great jiujitsu practioners with the complete newaza left japan for europe brazil etc...luckily brazil was open to learning the true calssical style and then preserved it. Everyone else in the world including in japan then started to just focus on the stand up katas, lost the element of the randori practicis and newaza and what you have is what peole consider classical. In a sense it is classical because your sensei and his learned it from people long dead. But the people they learned it from new a more complete version but it became unfavorable in japan to teach newaza and to practice randori.

    Muy interesante video, muchas gracias por compartirlo. ¿Específicamente que arte marcial es el que se practica en este video? (aunque en el título da el nombre de un estilo goshin ji justu, no se si se refiere al arte marcial o a algún estilo de algún arte marcial). Saludos cordiales.

    So the word "Goshin" indicates the Japanese style of Ju Jitsu? Or is Goshin a specific style of Japanese JJ? All I can find in my city are Brazilian flavours. But I really prefer the Asian Matial Arts because of their philosophical underpinnings. Sad to learn this great master passed way before his time :(

      Goshin refers to self-defense.
      Goshin is used in a bunch of Japanese martial arts - you'll find references to "Goshin-Jitsu" (self-defense techniques) in a number of Japanese martial arts, i.e. Judo, Karate, Aikido, etc.

    Funny how real jujutsu teachers are built like brick outhouses... This teacher is one of a very few that make it real ... Its a great shame and loss he died so young.... What did he do for a living other than teach jujutsu and what other training did he do to have the immense strength he obviously possessed? I would be very interested in finding out... I am partly paralyzed on the left side of my body in my left leg, but found the practice of martial arts of great help in overcoming my partial disability.... I would have loved to have met this teacher...

      @scarred10 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tony Wagstaffe his muscles are due to weight training, nothing to do with jitsu.its entirely false that great jujitsu teachers are built.most what he's teaching here is rubbish that could never be used.he's a nice guy and formidable himself but material and methods are nonsense from a practical sense. I was at a seminar of his yes ago and was very unimpressed by his coaching. I was training judo,wrestling and mma at the time and found the techs to be pure fantasy

      Fine, So who are you? Your avatar tells me nothing other than you could be like the rest of the nasty people who make negative and derogatory, but "kind" word comments on youtube... There are enough of them... IF you are good as you say you are, then let all of us see you in action.... Maybe then we might take some notice?...

    • @towag
      @towag 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh! And another one who hides behind some weird avatar that thinks that too.... How would you know? Have you met me? Have you any idea who I might be? That I did competitive martial arts too? Actually been in many real fights? Of course not.... I'm just a fantasist according to yet another troll. I notice that in your video's you talk a hell of a lot!! so instead of a load of verbal garbage, please put up a video up of yourself showing what you can do... I don't care what it is, whether its MMA, or any other "martial art" with rules or whatever, just you fighting against real odds.... Tell me why many an MMA practitioner are now beginning to realise that Aikido or Aiki jujutsu techniques are in fact very effective and are now being engaged in training as an addition to their self-defence knowledge, as we all know that they are not allowed to be used in MMA matches, as it breaks the bloody rules lmao !! People like you and your lot make me laugh!!

    • @towag
      @towag 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, you are wrong as I've practised a number of martial arts with some form of free fighting, so please do yourself a favour and go and do one like all the other idiotic commentators that infest You tube....
