I think any tips and tricks to save are welcomed and amazing to share. We recently purchased an Xbox OG heavy hitter and had to get it without the manual. At the end of the day I just want to play on legit hardware and the manual doesn't affect that.
Great tips and I totally hear you about the satisfaction of working in some way to get the game! I've had a handful of Xbox 360 games (currently padding out my already oversized collection 😂) where I've bought it without the manual on the cheap, found another cheaper than market price version with the manual, bought it and then resold it on to breakeven or a profit! Also love to take advantage of CeX credit thanks to your video, so a £115 game only ended up costing me 55-60 quid in "real money". I could have just bought it but working toward it and getting it for a cheaper price gives me a buzz 😄

Great video and definitely the way to go about collecting these days - I did the opposite a couple of years ago (mentioned it in your last video) and sold my snes and N64 boxes to fund buying more games and systems that I may have not got otherwise - no wonder the boxes sold like hot cakes - they never lasted longer than an hour once a box was listed!!
@@RetroGhetto While it would be nice to still have them - I never collected fully boxed complete for nintendo, I have only bought cart only + manual as a bonus - The boxed games were bought at a time when they were cheap, but like when we were younger I had nowhere to put the boxes so they were stored in the loft and forgot about for year's! In all cases the box only, sold for many times what I paid for the complete game! and double at minimum! I like the fact that they allowed me to purchase things now which i love more than the boxes I sold. I love your snes collection all boxed etc it's awesome and I do collect complete for megadrive and sega for example they have to be boxed complete for me - and with the hang tab - go figure, what the hell is that about it has to have the hang tab!!!😅 I think the snes is my favourite system though!

Playing games is great, and I think we would all like more time to play, but playing is just one part of the hobby for me, hunting, displaying etc....are all parts of the hobby I enjoy
Evening Callum Buddy i can not afford to collect retro games so i play my Retro via a Emulation box Called a Super Console x pro i find it spot on tbh with you ! BUT i have started to collect xbox 360 Games and have access to Game pass ultimate 👍😊
Definitely can be a good way to get a game cheaper even if it's not going to happen that frequently, have done it in the past. I constantly trawl eBay listings hunting for cheap deals on auctions and if you have time and patience it pays off👍✌️
I've done this in the past and admittedly i saved a lot of money doing so but for some titles it may not always be possible to get all the pieces together. I can appreciate those that enjoy the hunt but it's a bit too long winded for me. Even buying outright requires patience as you try to wait for the right copy to come along (that sweet spot between price and condition) and then you pounce on it. I've grabbed a lot of great games that way. Plus PayPal pay in 3 really comes in handy for some of those big hitters.
Yeah definitely Rob, like I said in the video, it's not for everyone. For me personally, I buy the boxes as they become available, then peice together... as opposed to having a specific game in mind and hoping the individual components become available. @@RetroGhetto Yeah I do think your method works better if like yourself you're too bothered on condition. I started off that way but as I got deeper into snes collecting the condition started to matter more 😂. I've still got those games I collected early with beat up boxes and manuals.
I did this not too long ago for a bundle of GBA boxes, got things like Doom, Final Fantasy IV and Golden Sun with manuals for about £5 a piece on average probably saving me £20-£40 per game

They are not. eBay and ultimately us are who are pushing the prices up. What CEX does is just scouting the last sales on eBay and adjust their prices accordingly. A little bit similar to what price charting does to give another example.
I understand that Trowa, I utilise their voucher scheme, so they are a large part of how I collect and for a price comparison video such as this it's an easy barometer of pricing. Thanks for watching man 🙏

Exactly what I did for my copies of Super Mario 1,2 & 3 on the nes. Cartridges, boxes and manuals were all separate purchases.
