  • This adventure on my Brompton along the coast of Northumberland allowed me to see some of my favourite things: castles, the ocean, and open skies.
In this video, I try wild camping for the first time and visit an unspoiled and rarely visited beach.
But the weather eventually creeps up on me. Let’s say that if there’s one thing I should take away from this trip, I should always put the guylines on my tent!
This is the second part of my tour through Northumberland. Over three days and two nights, I aim to view at least four medieval castles.
I cycled over 140km from the outskirts of Newcastle to Berwick-Upon-Tweed, making this the longest trip I have made on my Brompton.
The weather was wild on the last day, and I must admit I struggled against the relentless northerly headwind.
To make matters worse, a bad night's sleep left me feeling grumpy and shattered! But I just had to keep going to catch my train back home. I booked my ticket in advance, so I had to catch a specific train.
Part 1 of this trip can be found here: • Brompton bikepacking -...
I will be making more films on my upcoming Brompton adventures. I am looking for ideas for new places to go and explore on my Brompton. Please send me any ideas and subscribe to my channel if you’d like to follow my next trip.

01:13 The Cherry Tart: Lunch in a lovely village, sand in my shoes and trying a homemade cherry tart.
6:41 The Calm Before the Storm: A chat about my campsite and wild camping, cooking dinner and the weather takes a turn.
12:20 Looking For A Hidden Beach: I have to leave my bike behind to find an unspoiled beach
17:48 Ginger Fudge: After another push I stop for a break.
19:09 The Last Push: The constant head wind has tired me out. But it's the final leg to Berwick-Upon-Tweed along a beautiful coastal path.

A+++. Very will filmed and produced. Great music as well.
Northumberland is a beautiful, but desolate coast line.
I love wild camping. Have pitched in some stunning places over the years. I think you were just unlucky with the weather which spoiled it for you on this occasion.
Surprised you didn't go to Bamburgh Castle? I think Alnwick (pronounced An-ick) Castle was where Bladder Series 1 was filmed.
What camera(s) were you using as your footage is very high definition and sharp? My GoPro 10 doesn't given any where near as good quality or clarity as yours. Do you do anything to it during edit?

Nice ride. As I read this I am in Inverness, after finishing the Hebridean Way on my Brompton. The plan is to take the train from Inverness to Berwick-upon-Tweed and then cycle to the ferry at Newcastle for Amsterdam.
Thanks for the video, it gives me a heads up on the Route 1. P.S. I don’t like wild camping either.

I hope you enjoy it. I found the scenery incredible. What is it about wild camping you don’t like? I think I will try it again at some point and I guess there may be times when I have to if I can’t make it to a campsite on time! I always seem to get delayed

Great video. It's so lovely up there. Genius idea using a cross body bag to control the rain poncho. Mine usually flaps all over the place. How did you attach your tent to the stem?

The tent stuff bag has straps on it so you can easily attach to anywhere on the bike. Handy to have that option

How do you know if campsites have toilets?

    • @darinjgraham
      @darinjgraham  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

I usually just check on their website or call to check. Most of the ones I have stayed at had toilets and showers and they were really good and clean. One even had hot water bottles you could borrow lol
