That is a beauty Luie, and truly osage orange is one beautiful wood, I have made several projects with this wood and every one was lovely! This wood takes a finish very well! Well done and thanks
You make very good videos Luie. Everything from preface, intro, the work you do and outro. The bowl is beautiful to look at I bet it is silky soft to the touch. Can't wait for your next project. 👍
Hi Luie... Beautiful bowl... well turned and an entertaining video... The wood is amazing... I haven't used it either...must try to get some... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Stunning Luie and I'm not surprised you're keeping this one. I use Osage Orange a lot in my segmented pens and it really brings another dimension to them. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
I love Osage orange. What a beautiful bowl. My friend is a wood turner and I have a nostepinne made from Osage orange. Actually, I have many nostepinnes from him. And a number of bowls, although his are more like Phil's.
Beautiful bowl! I have a friend with a bunch of cleared Osage Orange trees. Cut a log and have it drying ,but have not turned it yet. Can't wait to do so now.
2 things you can always say about Osage, it’s HARD and it’s YELLOW. You did a great job with this tough wood. Know that it will fade to a golden brown with time. I think I’d like to see it in a mixed wood segmented piece. It should really add interest and highlight a darker wood. Super job Luie.
Nice, so nice ! And so yellow to boot ! I think you were pretty lucky to get such a big piece of Osage. Probably planted 100 years ago and cut 20 years ago when they were used as ornamental trees. Farmers planted them from Colonial times as field windbreaks and then either as fence posts (it won't rot) or as firewood (best there is!). One thing is the trees were gnarly and twisted so it has a lot of stress to relieve when cut so it moves. A lot ! I did some work with it when I was in middle school and then again when I bought my lathe - in fact 2 of the first 3 bowls I put on YT were Osage. ... Thanks for the memories sir. And can't wait to see what you do with the remaining wood. Good luck ! Thanks again. Take care. -Mike
Great looking bowl Luie and I love the Osage Orange. Wish we had it around here. But you never know I bought a nice Macadamia from Hawaii at a garage sale here in Oregon. Nice work, Gary
Great piece Luie. Love your channel. Your shop kind of mirrors mine. Even down to the lathe. Am considering starting a you tube channel of my own but don't know what I need in equipment to start. Again a great reat piece.
Hi, I came over from Mick to check out your channel. I really like what you do and create so have subscribed to folliw you. My channel is so different to yours, I love watching you turn chunks of wood into beautiful pieces of artwork.
@@spindlesworkshop9744 You are very welcome, I am going to stick around and learn from you. I was given a lathe by a family member and want to try my hand at turning amongst other things when my health improves. Thank you so much for your supoort, I appreciate it, love our community.
My blanks were basically black on the outside but as soon as I milled it all the yellow showed. Now that it’s finished and sealed I am hoping that it stays yellow????

Very nice Luie, osage orange is a lovely wood to work with too! Was that what I though might have been a Locust of some sort? Great job!
