Hey there James, thank you for your videos. I have discovered your channel today and have binged a few videos. Just letting you know I'm subbing. Keep up the good work! Hella enjoying
I love that you shared visiting Governors Island, Little Island and Cold Spring. As a long, long ago NYC resident, I’d never enjoyed, much less known, of those destinations. Of course, Little Island is a newcomer, but the other two were unknown in my early years R.
Thanks for showing Governors Island because it's a place that can be easily overlooked. The Island looks big in territory and it's very beautiful and interesting. Although I agree it must be creepy at night.
@@thecrimedog8424 I did find out that Governors Island is actually closed during the winter season. The last day it's open is October 31, which is a shame, but it's probably much better to visit in the spring anyways.
You seem to like a coffee a lot. Can you tell which one is good or bad coffee? I went to Starbucks reserve 2 days ago but sadly every coffee from different beans was the same for me O_O .. The hammock scene was pleasing to watch haha.
I can't live without it! Yeah, I can somewhat tell the good coffee from the bad, but honestly I'll pretty much drink any coffee and the real good stuff can be pretty expensive. Yes, those hammocks were awesome! I wish I had more time to hang out in them, but maybe next time.
Still "binge" watching - Fort Hancock / Sandy Hook National Park - day trips are not easy because there is no train service. Yet, the location is a marvel! As a boy scout & leader, this has always been a rememberable location for our many overnights at this location, do check it out - thank you for your wonderful cinematic adventures you share with us all. Sorry for the "side-track", but this offering made me think of Sandy Hook!
at 2:05 Him: This is crazy looking but beautiful landscapes and vistas here. This is a really stunning area Me (being from Iowa): ..... that looks like Iowa...
@@Jamesnu I get it. I'm from CDMX and when i moved to iowa in my teens it was a shock. But not all is prairies. You might like our capital, Des Moines. Nothing like NYC but still ok. If u are into bigger college towns, Ames and Iowa city are your destination. Glad you liked the change of pace.
@@gimi2395 I've been to Iowa, but it was awhile ago. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs so it was nearby and I enjoyed it when I went. I would like to visit again sometime.
It depends. It's much quicker to go about the island with bikes. You could probably do everything in a couple of hours, but I took things more leisurely by walking, stopping for lunch and taking a number of photos. One could probably spend a whole day their at a relaxing pace.
love your adventures around the island!! the fort looked cool! I guess it is a place you may want to picnic at rather than the weekday fare they offer. I would be interested in the history of the island. why doesnt anyone live there anymore? Toronto has an island and people who reside there are grandfathered into their lease agreement with the city. there are heavy restrictions for any changes to the existing structures in order for it to keep it's quaint feel. another charming video!
Thanks! Yeah, it’s such a large space and with no one living there it feels a little strange at times, but I kind of like the quiet feel. I’m not sure of the exact reason why no one can live there. You’re right too. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic! Maybe I’ll do that next time!
@@Jamesnu i bet you could find fantastic eats to take with you!! yes I think that it would be a fun destination even in the winter! can you imagine the quiet as snow falls on the city? do those tents get rented year round? it would be so romantic in autumn with a fire outside the tent at night.
Another great place to see Manhattan skyline and learn some history and only 5-8 minutes by ferry. Great video and well done!
Thanks so much! Yeah, I really enjoyed Governors Island. I should've went there much sooner.

Thank you! That makes me happy to hear!
Surprise hammocks are very exciting!
Indeed!

Thanks for watching! Governors Island is a true oasis away from Manhattan. I really enjoyed it!
I've been there twice. And I want to return to this park with its special atmosphere. A dream with manhattan in the background.
Yeah, the atmosphere is fantastic! It's a beautiful place!
This place is amazing. When we found the houses it was like entering a different world (we are from England)!
I know what you mean! I felt like I was walking in another world apart from NYC. It's definitely a unique place to explore!

Thanks always for watching! It's a really nice place and I wish I would've went there sooner!
I didn’t know that Governors Island is that interesting. Thanks to your recommendation. Another place for me to explore.
I'm happy to hear it! Governors Island is a beautiful and relaxing place!
wonder how many developers have tried to get their hands on that island.
Yeah, it's some pretty epic real estate!
Great video James!!
Thank you so much!
@@Jamesnu we will be visiting NYC in early Nov. Should we wait to see governors island in the spring instead?

Me (being from Iowa): ..... that looks like Iowa...
It's not something I'm used to seeing in NYC. It's a nice change of pace from the typical city scenery.

There is a FDNY Engine Company on the Island 24 hours a day.
That's interesting, but it makes sense!
Hello! Can I use some of this footage for a video I'm making about Governor's Island?
Of course.
How long does it take to explore the island?

First it was the Dutch there, and they built New Amsterdam (Now called NY) Then.... history, then The USA.
Indeed! New York has a lot of history.
I don't get it why no one's living there! NY is def overcrowded
Yeah, there's so much space there that can be utilized, but it's also nice to go to a place in NYC that's actually not crowded and quiet.
my guy, you've gotta stop doing that with your hand lol
You know you can narrate without us having to see you more than we actually see Governor’s island, right?
