Still quite fond of the ambience of a traditional Steakhouse, and Gallaghers was certainly that. The steak was generous being 16 oz.or 1lb, it looked perfectly prepared for your taste, and the hash browns looked sublime, but not at all like hash browns,lol. Haven’t had a Banana Split in years, but yours made me appreciate how sumptuous one can be. Another well done review James, thank you for taking us along.👍💕

Ahhh yes, back to beef. Welcome back!!! 🤣As I watched your review I sat here and wondered why on earth I'd never been to Gallighers? Hundreds of 3 to 4 day NYC trips to visit HQ over the decades and the boys never suggested we head to Gallaghers. My best guess is because it was too close to Times Square??? I ate at Sparks dozens of times. Smith and Wollensky, Peter Luger, and an old place called Arturo's were also on the regular list. Gallaghers looks like the quintessential NYC Steakhouse to me. The steak looked perfect, but boy howdy, those potatoes had my mouth watering. The perfect combination right there. Finishing up with a banana split was absolutely the perfect call too. I like your style James. You're so close to 50K subs, it's long overdue. If you keep at it, I see a million way sooner than you might expect. Great reviews, no BS, just really articulate and succinct commentary. Food Network or someone in that area of shows should put you on your own show. You do it really well my friend. Back in my drinking days I was a big fan of well aged Spanish Reds. I have a great story about a dinner up at the Kendall Culinary Institute. The entire meal was prepared perfectly around a bunch of different really world class Torres wines. Marimar Torres was there and we clicked right away. She gave me a personalized copy of her first cook book which is a treasure in my collection. She also hooked me up with some of their really rare and super hard to find Reserva wines. Ahhh yes, the good old days. Thanks James, my Monday now feels complete. As always, cheers!!!

You have your Keens, Wolfgang’s, Lugers but I think for all around (steak, ambiance, service, etc) Gallagher’s is pretty tops. I always recommend it to friends who visit. Have fond memories of Gallaghers Steakhouse. I was there in '83 with my Dad after he took me to see CATS on Broadway! I had the Filet Mignon, creamed spinach and Apple Pie à la Mode for dessert! It was the best thing this 12 year old kid had at that time! The big red corner booths felt gigantic.
I have a house built in 1912 that I am almost done reovating. My Man room hasn't even been started yet. It will take me about 2 weeks to make it look like Gallaghers. The dark walls, coffered ceiling, subdued lighting......Yep! Thanks for the inspiration. I originally hit this video to see the food, but as soon as I saw the decor I knew immediately that I have to do this. My Wife is even cool with the idea. You just never know where you'll find inpiration.

Excellent review as always James! This is easily my favorite steakhouse in Manhattan, and my default setting for meat. So the current owner, Dean Poll, took over in 2013. His family owns one of the best steakhouses on Long Island, Bryant & Cooper (make it out here, and I'll buy you a drink!) so there is a long family history of operating fantastic restaurants. I went to Gallagher's in Feb and I loved it as well; it really is "a steal" compared to so many other Manhattan restaurants/steak houses. I wonder what caused them to get a C rating. The restaurant and restrooms were pretty spotless to me and I didn't get sick or die of food poisoning or anything LOL! Love all your reviews. I know you're a fan of meat and potatoes, and that you still enjoyed EMP so I booked my reso there for the first week of Dec! Variety is the spice of life!
That 3-course lunch special is right up my alley, and the restaurant is easy access from the most touristy spot in NYC **adds to list** also I'm not a big fan of bananas in dessert (or in general), but that banana was bruleed to perfection!
I really enjoyed Gallagher's in Las Vegas when I finally tried it earlier this year. My only disappointment is they were out of New York Strips so I had to get the Ribeye which I am typically less of a fan of. Would definitely like to try the original NYC spot now. Great review!
I worked at 55th and Fifth for over twenty years and used to dine at Gallaghers once or twice a week. For some reason I stopped going and started to go to the Palm two and some times Peter Luger's in Brooklyn. Maybe I'll try them again.
4:17 the American Museum of Natural History has similar urinals in the older parts of the building. But if you enter through the 77th street side, the men’s room there has these types of urinals.

My beloved father(RIP) he really liked wines from Marqués de Riscal. In one Christmas, I gave him a bottle of Gran Reserva, he likes so much. Previously, their bottles were sold covered with a fine gold- colores metal mesh. Now, they do not. Try to be more consciuos for the planet. Beautiful video. Thanks.
Another great review I wonder if you have ever been to Florence? They have a dish called Bistecca alla Fiorentina which I think you would enjoy there's a restaurant called I Latini which is highly recommended
Nice review nad the steak looks terrific. I would argue though that it was cooked to medium and not medium rare based on the textbook definition which I why I often will order rare plus as many steak houses (even some high end ones) tend to overcook the meat. Really like how they carmelized the bananas on the desert. Yum!
Have you eaten in Hawksmoor in London and New York? Grassfed. In the end I prefer to buy a really good steak and a $50+ bottle of wine and eat it at home. That is also what my butcher said to me after he'd eaten in Hawksmoor. I prefer to eat what I cannot make myself and the wine mark-up is just mad (and add 20% tip to that too!) Great channel.

I've never had a problem with it, but I'm always respectful with how I film. I do photography, but also TH-cam has definitely become more of a job now, but a really fun job for sure!

I've never had a problem with it, but I'm always respectful with how I film. I do photography, but also TH-cam has definitely become more of a job now, but a really fun job for sure!

I have been to just about every good steakhouse in NYC. Gallaghers is near the top imo. Old school, class, great food, GREAT steaks. 🥂
