The visuals for “She’s a B*tch” were stunning and absolutely groundbreaking for the time. Also the first time for me seeing a thicc POC artist celebrating her curves and not catering to the male and white gaze with such a bold direction and aesthetic. I imagine because Missy refused to make a video that was a caricature of hip-hop so typical of the time - e.g. scantily clad video vixens twerking and gyrating on the bulges of thugs and gangsters - was perhaps a huge factor in why the video did not perform well but the ultimate revenge and validation is Missy winning MTV’s Video Vanguard award for her creativity and vision.
Yeah Missy’s entire second album had a lukewarm reception, but every video for every released single was 🔥🔥. Da Real World is a no-skip album for me. Folks just wasn’t ready for her is all 🤷♂️.
Da Real World is my favorite Missy album and still somewhat underrated. From the very beginning from when the beats change up in Busa Rhyme, her and Timbaland's production was just insane (even for them)!

It took about 8 months to go platinum from its release date. People wasn’t ready for what Missy and Timbaland crafted then. Missy didn’t get her true due until she dropped Get Your Freak On and later Under Construction.
Christina aguileras music and legacy has gotten so underrated since the bionic era, she is my favorite popstar.its criminal how people dont let her legacy live up to what it is 😩

Bionic is such an iconic and experimental album. I’ve always loved that album.

Larger Than Life was not a flop. It spent 57 non consecutive days at number 1 on TRL.
TRL is not a music chart... it's exposure that payola got you back in the 90s but had no correlation to sales, airplay or chart rank.
