What metacritic has done is crazy. Ive just finished the game and completely understand the reasons why so many people hate the game. Everyone knew it was going to be controversial so why block out what was going to be inevitable.

The game as a whole was a complete letdown. First of all, why do we have to play as Joel's fucking killer for 15 hours? Second of all, Did Ellie even have a meaningful moment in this game? It looked like Abby got all of the glory and even got to fight against the new infected and overall got the better missons... they forced her down our throat and it literally got to a point that i completely forgot that Ellie even had a gf because that's how long i was playing as Abby. The game felt so long and tedious and you never felt like you progressed at all literally the game is 80% flashbacks and 20% Ellie and Abby just following each other's footstep until we finally get a climax when they had Us Play as Abby in the theater trying kill another one of our fav characters (Ellie) i lost count as on how many time i purposely let Ellie kill me cause me as a player couldn't force myself to kill Ellie. Fast forward a few months Ellie's GF gives birth and Tommy let's Ellie know about Abby's supposed location and Ellie has to make a choice to either go kill Abby and lose her GF and kid, or forget about Abby and live happily ever after and she chose to kill Abby so it makes sense for her to finally get he revenge right? Wrong she didn't even get her revenge she was about to kill her and she thought of Joel and let her go for some dumb reason mind you she had no fucking problem murdering soldiers and animals before so now she's finally got joels Killer righ where she wants her all of the 30 hours of murdering was leading up to this very moment and NOW she has a change of heart?!?!?! Fuck that Terrible writing the only reason i kept playing after Joels death was to get vengeance and i couldn't even get that so now Ellie literally lost Joel, her GF and kid, Tommy and her fingers so now she has nobady and can't even play the guitar wtf was the point? Imagine Kratos in GOW3 after he killed all of the gods and when he's finally about to kill Zeus he says "na it's ok, you can go" it makes no sense😒
I just can’t believe they made Joel so dumb and out of character. Him or his brother Tommy wouldn’t just give a group of strangers his name like that knowing that they’re on the run 🤦🏾♂️

Ellie didn’t know she was pregnant and the game was not about revenge but empathy and forgiveness. Ellie realized in the end that revenge will only bring more pain so she stopped the cycle by forgiving Abby. Very powerful moment.
The funny thing is he was over generous with giving a 9 out of 10 for gameplay. Hell no does it get a 9 out of 10. Here's games that get that score. Breath of the wild, Nioh 2 , Devil May Cry 5, final fantasy 7 remake to name a few. This game graphics wise will be top tier but, that alone does not sell a video game.

I enjoyed The Last of Us 2. Instead of being angry at the devs and the game and the story, I instead was angry WITH Ellie. Was uncomfortable playing as Joel's killer, but in time I understood her character. All in all, the game was an emotional rollercoaster that I never would have felt had it not been plotted the way it was plotted.

From Yours/and Ellie perspectives you’re just seeking revenge for the assholes who kill Joel. And taking out whoever in your way. But then when you switch to Abbie’s play through you see that she really Loved and respected her dad and Joel killed him without a second thought and probably doesn’t even remember or care. And those WLF soldiers that Ellie killed were also human beings with loved ones as well, you even see that the dogs had names and backstories. At one point while playing as Abbie I was playing catch with a Dog named “Bear” and then I remembered when I playing as Ellie I killed a random dog and one of the soldiers started crying out “NOOO! BEARRRR!” So that goes to show that in this world nobody is a hero. Everybody is just the Villian of another persons story. All the hate and low scores ppl are giving this game is completely ridiculous. This game is amazing. I still haven’t finished it yet so don’t spoil it for me. Something needs to be done where you cannot post a review, negative or positive, if you do not have some sort of proof that you actually played the game. It’s a tough spot because I do not doubt that there are people who played it and didn’t like it at all, loved it, or are in the middle BUT trolls exist, assholes exist, people that just want to ruin something people enjoy exist. Reviewing something that you have not actually “experienced” is wrong. Some people base their decisions on these scores and for people to give a non-genuine opinion, that’s not fair to the consumer or to the people that busted their ass to create a product. If the consumer doesn’t like the game after reading a perfect score review from someone “fighting the hate train” then that to me is just a wrong as someone who doesn’t buy a game they may have liked based on a low score from trolls “review bombing”.

It would be nice if you could prove you bought/have the game like a steam account by logging in and it reads your trophies. 12 o'clock of it dropping it got flooded when the games mad long. At the end of the day it sold mad copies so I would pay more attention to sales than Metacritic scores. Though I do NOT agree with allowing 10's out of nowhere.

I haven't been able to leave an honest review of the game (a negative OR semi-positive) review of the game at all. I absolutely hated every bit of it and I'm glad I borrowed it. But yeah, Metacritic is definitely blocking that b/s.
