- very happy petpetpetpetpetpetpetpetpetpet
i kinda didn't expect to end up doing another entire showoff TAS, but i'm glad i have... this one was done thanks to a commenter's request
i cut an entire area from the route to save time for the halfpipe, which i left criminally underused in my old route. definitely paid off, huh?
the audio seems quite a bit out of sync, but i don't have the means to fix it right now - เกม
Me: “YO WHAT MOVE WAS THAT!?🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The game: “???”
that double spiral 5x transfer was so sweet
Can you time stamp where you mean?
@@junglewizzard he ment at the end 6:33
@@melonenlord2723 Ah yes haha of course! 😅 Thank you!
Guys you know hes a TH-camr you can sub to retto
3:04 was my fav part
The lighting in this game was so good for its time.
4:25 this was SICK. This entire TAS was sick as fuck.
0:57
IM SORRY WHAT!?!?!
I DID NOT KNOW THEY HAD A SNOW FLAKE AND A THING TO LAND THERE...
ALSO, THE FACT THAT YOU CAN GO RIGHT THROUGH THE GROUND... 💀💀💀💀
That blew my mind and the fact the uber tricks count when you land on the rail.
Sick route, also had no idea those 5x even existed in the swirly section at the end, upside down head grind is based
SAME. Also that section was WILD
Respect just epic on all levels
Okay, yeah, that jump of the spiral rail at the end to the tail glitch into the finish was particularly inspired. Great TAS.
Easily a new fav tricky tas, impressive routing! Was sorta hoping there was some way to abuse the 5x at 3:10 even more.
You can keep abusing that 5x; the old TAS did 4 Walking the Dog ubers compared to this one's 2. I found that the value of the extra half pipe jumps and the additional 3x's directly after 3:10 justified cutting the jump shorter. Maybe you could abuse that spot like the Tokyo fan glitch can be abused... It's way harder than fan glitch though lol
So many new strats in this run that I’ve never seen before in any other TAS runs. Well done!
I'm so glad that people still play this game.
Always a good day when kele uploads a new vid
SSX 3 really was a huge leap forward!
You are ÜBER🤟
Sick finishing😱
awesome run! great speed and style!
I think if I was in the stands at 3:08 I'd probably run in fear. That is no mortal man.
Amazing to watch is this… pure class
Haha Ryan!! How fun this sounds. I wish I could star as a voice actor. For SSX tricky super cool. And inspirational you all are.
I take full credit for any possible insanity caused by the spiral
FINALLY ITS DONE LETSGOOOOOO
Soo satisfying!!
Well done!
1:12 finally the TAS did the paddle wheel trick
This is insane!
6:42 I found out for the first time that this rail is for boarding. Because I always failed when I tried.
올ㅋ
that was the best Tas run iv seen
Kelecat, wow! I got so much to say, so prepare for a wall-of-text...
First things first, which I've meant to say/shoutout for a couple of months now, but never gotten around to do so; congrats on all the records you've achieved of the 2010's and 2020's! Not only are your RACE times class, but you also show knowledge when it comes to showoff mode. I also applaud you for doing something we could only dream of doing back in the days when the game was released! But yeah, you definitely deserve respect for being one of the most active souls keeping this game and community alive with your great contributions in both race and showoff modes. Despite this game being over 20 years old, it's still my absolute favorite snowboard and SSX-game! I was never much of racer, so I dedicated my SSX Tricky "life" to showoff only.
Ok, let's dive into the actual run, which was fun to watch. Back in mid-/end-2000's, we theorized that 6m pts could be possible to achieve, but that'd have to be done through TAS. And even with a route lined up and planned, I only managed to hit the 5m-mark with my run, which was solid enough, even though it was a TAS. That got me to sort of withdraw the possibilities of getting 6m pts, since I couldn't find nor see the time saves or strats that would get us closer to 6m pts. Despite that, I somehow kept it open that 6m could be done some day. And here you come with your run!
Looking at your run, you certainly do a lot of the things I did on my 5m TAS, but you also do a lot of new and very useful strats that are interesting and a game changer.
I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head while applauding your "out-of-bounds"-flake @ 1:00 - That definitely took me by surprise. Didn't even know about that one, haha. Loved it!
About that 1:44 3x... I recall that you can swap that triple uber on the 2x just before this one with the 3x and then do a double uber through the 2x. Did you ever try doing that?
I love that sign-bounce you do at 2:37 ! It definitely brought back some nice memories, yep. That's also a must-do trick.
One of my favorite parts of your run comes @ 2:50-3:35 ! Particularly that 5x @ 3:09 followed by the 3x - which by the way is such a smooth way to get 4 ubers with a 5x flake! Well done that. So well-executed!
Nice new strat that stone-bounce into a double uber @ 4:00 !
That sign with 5x @ 4:30, you can do sign-bouncing ubers on (which you did earlier on that 3:09 5x), which gives you 3 (maybe 4?) ubers through the 5x, but yeah, it's uber tough to get that trick to work.
If I remember correctly, that 3x @ 4:58, you can use the branch-bounce trick to get just enough airtime to do 2 ubers, or was that another one of those too difficult tricks to do... I don't remember exactly, so I might be a bit lost with this one.
Nice triple through the 3x before the half-pipe!
I cannot help but wonder if you'd skip some of the earlier 2x's with 1~2 ubers and skip those regular ubers, would that save even more time for the half-pipe, that you could gain even more flakes and thus more points? I say this because the triple through the 3x you get @ 6:09, you could then land that one and do another jump to get double/triple through the 5x (which you get after the mentioned 3x). Maybe better to skip the 2x you pick up early on the pipe, or doesn't it add up, perhaps?
Very smooth double uber to upside down through the 5x @ 6:49 !
And that's it! I can only salute you for nailing the 6m-mark, and even though it's a TAS, it's still one greatly planned and a well-executed run!
Is it now when one can ask the question "is 6.5~7m possible?!" Heh...
So, from an old timer SSX Tricky showoff'er to another: congrats and well done, Kelecat! :)
Only a year late to ask but do you happen to remember which of your runs were TAS and if you have any of them around still? Would be rather interesting to see some more of the runs from way back. Honestly personally also curious about the 15mil tokyo route as well
Incredible.
HELL YEAH
That was just sick😂
R A D
I swear this was one of the best games I played on the ps2 straight classic
Mine too 💯😅
Ich habe es auch früher gespielt und war schon gut , aber das ist ja echt ein krasser run. Respekt
Mad skills
*by the gods.*
Pretty good 👍
I love how at the end it says you only did one grab lmao
Este tipo es demasiado bueno 👍
I love these tases so much, even more now that xcon decided to hide all his videos
god damn i had no clue the post-halfpipe section of thisq course could be so entertaining
Me neither, that is, until long-time community member Julia/Julppux developed the idea. This is the first time it's been used in a run, and those 5x's really wowed me while making this.
@@kelecat7094 yeah and the fact that (in a tas run) its a more efficient use of time than staying in the halfpipe until the last possible moment is very satisfying to know
gad DAYMN! o.0
Anyone else notice they've used Mt. Rainier as the backdrop to this level even though it's supposed to be France?
I shot ropes at 3:04
A god among boarders. BTW, is there any chance of seeing a TAS with an input map-or like, whatever you call that little controller at the bottom of the screen sometimes that shows what buttons are being pressed? Totally understand if that's a pain in the butt for this.
I think Dolphin has a built in feature for that. It doesn't give a user-friendly display of what's being pressed, instead it presents text of each button being pressed. I'll have to look into it more, then maybe upload an alternative version of this TAS with it??
@@kelecat7094 Ooh, neat. But I mean, I'm just curious about the process and it would make sense that an actual controller display would glitch out with all these inputs lol
even the game has no idea
Bro like seriously how did you find that moving ramp under the start of the course? 😂😂
And you must of always played in slow motion at first then sped it up while editing the video 😅

damn shawty
6:48 😂😂
Upside down
When you're not full tricky that meter goes down the fastest when grinding upside down 😅😅😅😅
Definitely using PEDs. Somebody test this man for Mountain Dew: Code Red!
What is happening
Just like I did as a kid.
exactly why I played with mac
3:02 How? Just how? How do you know when to turn to make the character speed up backwards???
Map knowledge and lots of planning
My favorite trick must be the "???"
What the fudge is Gargle?😱
You got the Diamond Medal... 🤩🤩🤩 6.12M Points... So Amazing!!! 👍👍👍
Screw the Diamond Medal. Give him the whole damn jewelry store!!! ✨

Fucking sick
Wish this was on PSN
Any chance of playing this on the ps4, miss this game so much
I'm not sure if the ps4 has backwards compatibility with ps2. Would be great if it does
Damn
TAS SSX tricky looks like SSX 2013
개고였다...
wow
By the way was 4:32 a given up attempt to bounce higher on the checkpoint?
yeah, it was at first, but the way it sends me to the next rail was also quite valuable... there was plenty of room for other jumps that would have gotten me to the rail without hitting the checkpoint sign, but i thought it looked funny this way. plus, iirc those other jumps wouldn't have been any more valuable than the one i managed while hitting the sign, so nothing was lost
@@kelecat7094 Of course. I still feel like a 6.2M is possible tho.
These are my usual strats
Is there some kind of cheat that keeps you landing tricks? Seems to land everything even when the trick isn’t complete and land more easily on rails?
Sad Sack can be interrupted early by holding a grab button
Scooter, Hand in Hand, and Paddle Wheel all can be landed before their respective animations are done, Paddle Wheel's less obvious with this
Landing on rails is just really finicky, and this run was meticulously created to get the physics to work with me on every jump. It's not that the physics are nicer, I just did what was necessary to get them to work as intended while also getting as many points as possible
imagine you get infinite retries on every jump, plus the ability to play the game in slow motion, allowing for "superhuman" moves when you play it back at full speed. Even then, some spots were NOT easy to work with - the jump at 4:05 was really annoying to work out with that trick combo, for example
@@kelecat7094 what is the TAS?
@@kelecat7094 very interesting
@@kelecat7094 okay I’ve just read up on TAS this makes sense I was totally confused
tutorial on TAS?
What does TAS mean? Can anyone do those crazy tricks so fast like this?
im pretty sure it stands for “tool assisted speedrun” and yes it is possible to do these tricks fast, but its nearly impossible to time them and the other things like going backwards and landing perfectly on the rails
how do u do rail bounce while doing a tricky
very carefully and with a lot of retrying
not humanly feasible in most cases
@@kelecat7094 oh yeah thats why i also did it 1 time because i was so slow
What software do you playing?

Modded to high heaven
everything in this vid is possible on console. it's just WAY too hard to expect anyone to pull off, so instead we make videos like this for entertainment purposes (it's also helpful for finding new strategies that people can use in normal runs!)
So did anybody figure out how to move backwards against the hill lol..
it's insanely complicated, which is why no one knows how to explain it
you need an "uncomfortable" and "backwards" landing first. "uncomfortable" means the rider visibly struggles to get back to normally standing up. "backwards" means that the rider will switch stances in order to keep riding forward as soon as possible. we use the "uncomfortable" animation to delay this stance switch.
during the uncomfortable landing animation, prepare a jump and diagonal prewinding direction. "up + left/right" acts different than "down + left/right", so you need to know which will be the right one before you commit to one. after this point, you've committed to your direction, and you can really only influence where you want to go by either boosting or not boosting (it affects the "turning radius" that you have to work with whether you boost or not).
getting any airtime will kick you out of the state that pushes you up the hill, and so does releasing either jump or your prewind. releasing jump is still useful, since it can launch you further in a desired direction than you could go on the ground in this unusual state.
..and that's about it for how that works..
6:49 wat
so dissapointed, you even had time remaining in the end where you could have reached higher altitudes of gloriness. :(
what could have been ;(
full disclosure I actually could have jumped higher on the very last jump
I would have crashed into the ice ceiling if I did
but I could have
???
How do you do tricks so fast??
If you mean the flips, spend a lot of time before each jump prewinding!
If you mean the tricks seemingly ending early, it's a feature that works with some some ubertricks, and happens to work with Sad Sack. Hold any grab button during the uber, and the uber animation will cut off early. By doing this, you can land as soon as the grab animation interrupts the uber... just make sure you let go of the grab button before actually hitting the ground!
Thanks (: I appreciate it, also appreciate and shocked at how fast you replied haha @@kelecat7094
What does tas stand for
Tool Assisted Speedrun
Something tells me this guy cheated
prove it
What’s does TAS mean?
*T* ool-
*A* ssisted
*S* uperplay
it means I used a few tools to help craft this run very carefully, including slowing the game down to help with precision and using save states to retry the same trick over and over until I get what I want.
@@kelecat7094 pretty dope I thought you just put together a bunch of cheats cause the way you pulled off that walking the dog 2x without wiping out was sick
3:58 nice cheats bro 😂
that's the jump that made you call cheats? there's so many more ridiculous jumps in this run!
@kelecat7094 I know, that one just looked the most blatant to me.
Lmao.

also GG
He destroys all other characters in this game at showoff. His ubertricks are unmatched. His trick stat is the highest (tied with 3 others). He's also a regular stance rider (the reason this is good is complicated)... He's just got way too much good going for him
