This video to me is the equivalent of someone explaining something out in the field and looking away as they speak. Thanks for the effort on making the vid.
The temperature sender/sensor sends a signal to your gauge and your computer. A bad gauge should not affect your mileage, since the computer should be receiving the correct temp from the sensor.
Great video thank you! I have a 1994 Ranger that the gauge just began acting up. Where did you find the resistance measurement for the gauge? Any advice is much appreciated! Please and Thank You
Does this cause issue with the Mileage reading, or is that stored elsewhere? Just wondering if I end up swapping everything, if it’s going to cause any other issues.
10:42 Shows how there are 3 different modules in the cluster assembly. The center module has the odometer/speedo/tach. I kept the same center module with my explorer so my odometer reading stayed the same.
This is a bit off topic but the gas gauge in my 99 sxplorer 5.0 is stuck on full and will not move. Can you conduct the same test on the fuel gauge as the temp gauge. Do uou know what the reading should be.

Following for my explorer content since you're the only other person on TH-cam with a 97 5.0

the guage and computer use separate tempeture senders
Great VIdeo it help a lot!!!!! I didnt get resistance for my ground, where to start to search !!!
Very usefull tutorial. Thanks
Very usefull info... Thanks
Very good video
Hey thanks for the helpfully video! Did your MPG ever get better? And did you have an issue with your mileage changing with the new board?

Thanks for the video. How did you calibrate your speedometer after swapping clusters?

Hello, is cluster dashboard same for V6 and V8 ?
Same readings for a v6 4.0?
2000 exp with bad temp and oil pressure takes a while to readd My problem is a bad battery draw, could this be my cluster or GEM.
my 98 xlt 4.0 sohc. The needle jumped all the way to H
My sport trac had same issue w/temp guage
My thermostat, ect, all that was replaced but the gauge is still cold, mechanic said i need a whole new cluster
For me its same what was the fault of that ?
Ok I reading this over and over I replace my new switch still not answering and seems like everything works
Had your tach stay at 4K when it starts
So if between B and S on the temp side it reads 1 is the cluster bad ?
Nvm I just saw the part where I had to change it to 2000 lol
My oil pressure gauge on my Explorer just stays at the bottom sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't
