What amazed me most with Horizon Forbidden West, was the difference you could see in the materials that make up the character's clothing. You can really see the difference between leather, cloth, metal, plastic, rubber, etc the face paint as well, some have gloss, some are matte, and some look like chalk. Aloy's hair is still a bit wonky sometimes but Kathallo looked almost like a real person, there were moments where it felt like it was beyond a video game, I'm just at the beginning of the burning shores, so I'll see just how much better it looks. Cyberpunk also has some amazing clothing and material textures and I like the way Cyberpunk's cut scenes are, where you're fully in control and in the moment, like you're actually living it, I played it on Xbox One when it was fully of bugs and jank, but when I upgraded to Series X it truly was like a brand new game.
I think The Finals is severely underrated in terms of its visual presentation from graphics to animation to performance, because it’s a free to play fps game it gets written off by the larger gaming community. I truly think it has some of the best looking maps in FPS game history and the animation and effects are also top of the industry, and this is coming from a new, relatively small studio.
@gunnarragnarsson9563 i highly disagree that it looks plastic and shiny, at least in the sense that you’re describing it. if anything, that adds to the visual appeal. but it’s really the lighting of the finals that is the standout, anyway. and it also does have realtime lighting, and it’s especially applicable with the destruction. it also has day/night/fog/sunset/other weather conditions that capitalize on its lighting technology. so I think it’s absolutely comparable. and also, the maps aren’t even that small. they’re bigger than you might realize. another overlooked thing about the maps is how good the backdrops look. if you take a moment to look and appreciate how good the backdrops are, you’ll start to really see the visual quality of the maps in the game.
@@samhyatt4863 I agree but the execution of the destructible environments is really flawed. Not even flawed just had crazy potential. It’s just not as spontaneous or easy to execute as advertised. Yeah but CP77 looks IMO still better than the DS remake.. like ingame human models are way more detailed and have far better facial animations in CP77 than those in the DS remake, even more impressive when CP77 is a open-world RPG with tons of characters to meet and DS is a more linear, shorter horror-action game with only few characters
@@wes8723 I agree with you about the overall complexity and detail of CP2077, but the Dead Space Remake is far less demanding for how good it looks and feels, even after it was turned into a fully redone and seamless sandbox with overhauled set-pieces. As for linearity, it's more metroidvania now, rather than segmented chapters and sections of the ship you can't backtrack through.

I’ve really been enjoying the Talos Principle 2, it’s hard and half the time I need a bit of help but it’s super fun. It’s interesting that I had to print the maps because it does not have a real good map function. I am sure that’s what they intended.
The mission where you get your ikran in AFOP was one of my favorite moments in gaming last year. The game itself was very enjoyable but that specific mission was just amazing.
For me horizon fw are the best, i just love the cenaries and the gameplay, aloy is the most richest character in details i ever seen, that reflexes in her eye is just amazing
For Cyberpunk, it's important to note the actors only gave their voice and appearance. Every mimic, facial expression you're seeing is NOT relying on the actors. Idris Elba cleared that out in a video.
Before the PS5 came out there was a tech demo that sold me on the system. Four years later and I still have yet to see anything that comes close. So far the ps5 graphics have been disappointing.
I just started Alan Wake 2 and I can't agree more. It is absolutely breathtaking. Too bad I have to take a lot breaks because I'm too scared LOL And my honorable mention would be Jedi: Survivor. The game still tears and stutters but when it works, it's amazing. Especially that entire dessert mecha boss sequence--it'd be cool to see a 10 Best Recent Action Sequences in Video Games list hahahaha.
Here is my list are some other games with stunning graphics: Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores Some say this DLC is the most fantastical environment they've seen in these games, with giant cliffs, ruined skyscrapers, and a volcano. The Finals Some say this game has incredible lighting, color grading, and environments. Jedi Survivor Some say this game makes the cut due to its visual quality, despite its issues on the PC.
I'd say Avatar, Alan Wake 2, and Burning Shores are among the best I've seen. I'd love to see Burning Shores and FF XIV running on a PS5 Pro when that comes out, poster child games for Fidelity Modes with high frame rates. I am narrowly leaning towards Avatar over Alan Wake 2 for #1 due to how great it looks and runs for every platform. It seems like they tried to squeeze every drop of performance and quality they could get on every format and setting. I'm at Ultra/ FSR 3 at 5120 * 1440 with a 7900 XTX Nitro. Unobtanium looks great for 4090s, but Low even looks good for lower end cards and the console versions look quite decent. Really amazing work considering the bleeding edge visual tech demo games like Crysis and Metro games of yesteryear seemed like they were designed for hardware 2 generations away and nothing could run it properly, not looking great and running well on everything.
Great list! Metroid Prime Remastered is probably my favorite game ever made. It also looks sooo good. Especially when you emulate it at 4K on a good OLED display.
Forbidden West is just unmatched, Burning Shores its insane but its a dlc so it doesnt really count, other than that, FF16 its the best if you consider the top of the top scenes, its just better, but there are some very mid moments through the game, for consistency itd be Avatar.
The best graphics of 2023 was Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. If we consider the limitations of the Switch, that was a tour-de-force of computer programming and game engineering. TotK pushed the Switch as far as it will ever go.
How was Spiderman 2 not on this list? Or did I miss it? I guess I'll have to watch the video more thoroughly when I'm not working... Spiderman 2 had pretty insane graphics (especially in the cutscenes). So much so that I was very upset that I couldn't replay the game and watch the cutscenes with all the costumes unlocked in New game plus 😢
I am impressed with Metroid Prime Remake but that should be an honorable mention at best. I am also shocked that Nintendo didn't credit the original crew and the game is remade 1 for 1.
I'm way more impressed with how Tears of the Kingdom handles the transitions between three massive maps. It's a good looking game with a huge world that runs pretty amazing considering its on a Switch.

@@Goofy_Toonsit's too demanding
Hey Gameranx, the petition to give "Days Gone" a sequel has been gaining traction and recently just hit another milestone, if you guys enjoyed the game enough to want to see a sequel, would u give it a shout out to draw attention to the growing petition? Maybe we could kick off enough interest other might follow and Sony might actually listen
What a video, some amazing games I love - Horizon, Metroid, Avatar, Jusant, Cyberpunk. Some I havent even played but rly want to
I’ve really been enjoying the Talos Principle 2, it’s hard and half the time I need a bit of help but it’s super fun. It’s interesting that I had to print the maps because it does not have a real good map function. I am sure that’s what they intended.
The mission where you get your ikran in AFOP was one of my favorite moments in gaming last year. The game itself was very enjoyable but that specific mission was just amazing.
Hi-Fi Rush and Resident Evil 4 Remake, for me. The first for stylized visuals and the other for realism with a strong personality.
2d sprites and pixel graphic have made a massive comeback, and many would argue that many of those game have more visual appeal.
Yes i love ori graphic style
For me horizon fw are the best, i just love the cenaries and the gameplay, aloy is the most richest character in details i ever seen, that reflexes in her eye is just amazing
Ark ascended was the most dope looking thing from my 2023 roster, best part is, I’m one of the few who can run it at 60 fps
Burning Shores was just effing incredible. Not just the graphics, but gameplay, story, voice acting and mo cap, music, sound design… so good.
A Rift Apart amped up on PC is truly a sight to behold. Total eye candy from start to finish, but also a very fun game!
You guys are the best. Only opinions about games I can blindly trust
I hope number 10 was the best graphics on this list, because horizon FW & DLC visuals and graphics are for sure the most stunning on the list.
Alan Wake 2 was such a treat. Came out around Halloween nd was a new scary game that held no punches. Loved it maybe one day do a second play through
For Cyberpunk, it's important to note the actors only gave their voice and appearance.
I remember that tech demo, it looked absolutely unbelievable graphicaly
@@MrSkullMerchant right???
I just started Alan Wake 2 and I can't agree more. It is absolutely breathtaking. Too bad I have to take a lot breaks because I'm too scared LOL
And my honorable mention would be Jedi: Survivor. The game still tears and stutters but when it works, it's amazing. Especially that entire dessert mecha boss sequence--it'd be cool to see a 10 Best Recent Action Sequences in Video Games list hahahaha.
1.Horizon Burning Shores
2. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
3. Final Fantasy 16
4. Dead Island 2
Where is RoboCop Rogue City? The graphics there is AMAZING. The level of detail is INCREDIBLE. The lighting is REALISTIC.
Agreed with you
You're one of my fav channels, and this generic stuff!
+1 Honorable mention - Ready or Not. Insane attention to details and great visuals.
👍🏼
I’m surprised you didn’t have Callisto protocol on here. That game blew my mind. Yeah dead space remake was epic but Callisto was insane.
Here is my list are some other games with stunning graphics:
Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores
Some say this DLC is the most fantastical environment they've seen in these games, with giant cliffs, ruined skyscrapers, and a volcano.
The Finals
Some say this game has incredible lighting, color grading, and environments.
Jedi Survivor
Some say this game makes the cut due to its visual quality, despite its issues on the PC.
How can Starfield NOT be put on this list? Literally one of the best looking games of the year. Shame on you, old bird :(
Great list! Metroid Prime Remastered is probably my favorite game ever made. It also looks sooo good. Especially when you emulate it at 4K on a good OLED display.
Ratchet and clank was the first game I booted up when I got my 4080 and good lord. Made the 4080 worth it in an instant
Even 2 years after release, Horizon is a game that, every single time I play it, I catch myself multiple times saying, "This is a beautiful game."
Forbidden West is just unmatched, Burning Shores its insane but its a dlc so it doesnt really count, other than that, FF16 its the best if you consider the top of the top scenes, its just better, but there are some very mid moments through the game, for consistency itd be Avatar.
Rift Apart was easily the best non-rpg game I played in 2023 and that was the first time in a long time where I stopped to look at the scenery.
I'm definitely not a fan of the Jusant type art style...I'd have put BG3 in its place instead, but otherwise a good list.
The best graphics of 2023 was Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. If we consider the limitations of the Switch, that was a tour-de-force of computer programming and game engineering. TotK pushed the Switch as far as it will ever go.
Honestly i dont get how totk wasnt buggy as hell
Hi Falcon 🦅. great content as usual .
Hey
How was Spiderman 2 not on this list? Or did I miss it? I guess I'll have to watch the video more thoroughly when I'm not working... Spiderman 2 had pretty insane graphics (especially in the cutscenes). So much so that I was very upset that I couldn't replay the game and watch the cutscenes with all the costumes unlocked in New game plus 😢
Turn based combat with the kaiji battles would be my perfect final fantasy game.
Skull Island: Rise of Kong and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum should be in here. 🤪🤣
I can't believe Lies of P isn't on this list. It looks absolutely fantastic.
"DLC that feels like a sequel"
I like the sound of that.
Ill do a push up for every like this comment gets.
So if u get 10k you will do 10000 push ups... Ye right
Shut up kid
Upload it too
Liar
People still fall for this?
Dude where is Metro Exodus Enhanced? wtf dude , its one of the best grfx games i have ever seen and it deserve a place there
cyberpunk has the best graphic imo
No Spidey? 👀 🕷️ 🕸️
Resident Evil 4 Remake deserves a place on this list!
Avatar looks very amazing.
Im surprised tlou 2 remastered isn’t on there personally one if not thee best graphics I’ve ever seen in a video game
i feel like that is the 10th time i have heard a eagle say they don't like the avatar franchise but loves the game
Did you say the name of this last game? I rewound twice but still missed it. The Last of the bonus mentions?
"The Finals" F2P on PC. (not sure about consoles)
Not an Avatar fan either, but the game is beautiful and has so much to do!! Will keep me busy for months, so it is worth the money I paid for it.
