I am English and am very familiar with the BSBWSH (British Standard Bees Wax Shaped Hole) series of fasteners. Over here, we can buy ready made adapters from any hardware store. Unfortunately the British Standard mandates that these be made of chocolate. Glad to see that you come up with a permanent solution to the problem.
+Chris Williams I'll watch for them on fleabay. I would thing the Chinese will be knocking off the BSBWSH originals at some point in the future. Probably.
my son and I love these vids! we are both avid motorcycle enthusiests, especially cafe bikes. we recently watched the how to video of the screwdriver and such. BAAADAASSS! keep 'em coming man!
Freaking genius! I never knew how to remove those European security bolts! I always had to cut them off, drill them out, and then tap and die it! This will save me weekends of time. You're the best!
Hold on big spender, you could have used free dryer lint. That is renewable high therminal protection and sound absorbing fluff, almost free of animal droppings.
Wow, an excellent idea making your own tool to undo the British baffle bolts. I've been using a hacksaw blade to cut a slot in them to use a conventional screw driver for years! Your method is much better. Thanks for the tip my friend.
It's actually best to keep the mice inside the muffler as they keep insects from building nests inside the muffler, as long as you keep feeding them when you cover the bike with insect netting so they don't starve they are beneficial to your bike thanks for the videos keep it up!
This guy rocks! Special tool to remove allen bolts, and sure no vintage muffler packing is complete without some proper aged mouse poop! ROFLMAO!!! Said that, seems like a person who loves his work!
I don't have muffler screen can I use my wife's stockings I think they are heat resistant as she says she feels hot in them ! and attach stocking mesh with green zip tie or heat resistant construction tape ?
What R value do you use? I use R15 for the summer and R25 for the winter cause its cold in Canada I also use a small allen key to poke the insulation right into the little baffle holes seems to keep the pipe a little warmer. ,,Just sayin
And can you help with some advice on balancing carbs please? I had them on the scales for ages and they are exactly the same weight,a perfect balance but my bike still won't run nice. What am I doing wrong?
I'm building a electroplating bath and I'm having problems suspending the little nickel squares in the bath without contamination from the wire or solder. I don't feel like paying £28 for a titanium cage that won't fit well so any suggestions ? Next try is with jumper clamps chopped of garbage held up with bolt and nut so i can adjust height but I'm open to suggestions.
Thank you for the tutorial. I followed all the steps and with great success. However I am stuck at cutting the muffler screen. I can’t find 1/2” screen cutting scissors anywhere. I tried Amazon and flee bay but to no avail. Please post a link so I can finish my project. Thank you.
i need tips on repairing a 2004 flywing mx150 Silencer its missing entire baffle and end cap. the end cap looks like it was torn off during a wheelie or something and it bent the very end of the silencer so i had to cut off about an inch of the piping still have a ton of space but now has zero mounts for baffle or end cap im a machinist but i dont know the assembly or whats needed
Great video, thanks! One question, for real you don't have Allen keys in your workshop? It's the first time I hear "European standard bolts". I thought Allen keys were popular all over the world...
hello wondering if you can help, my exhaust baffle broke from inside the exhaust and i have no idea how to remove it. so its bouncing around the cylinder while riding..
if you do not have allen screw wrenches you can use a bolt of the right size. It is also a 6 sided pattern and you can put 2 nuts at the end to lock it in place. Or take a long bold and and band it 45 degrees and you have a simple wrench.
I'm needing to replace the cats on my parts truck, I think I could save myself the trouble of getting new parts and just repack them. Ichiban, were would be the place to order that performance grade packing material?
I used on my exhaust fiberglass and warped it around many times. I see you use fiberglass cotton to wrap the exhaust. Am I going to have problems? Do I have to remove it?
Good day all : I have moderate experience with 2 stroke exhaust systems and similar problems . Fiber glass packing in exhaust systems . I disassembled and repaired exhausts on old Yamaha's , Kawasaki's and Suzuki's with fiber glass packing . The glass packing was most often the same problem ; moderately packed with carbon and congealed unburnt 2 stroke oil . They were most often found with fiber glass packing that had been pushed to the rear end of the mufflers by the exhaust pressure . This in itself clogged the mufflers and caused twin and triple cylinder bikes to be not revving freely and "Fighting Themselves" . This condition I found on Yamaha RD 350's / 400's , Kawasaki 350's/500's and 750's and Suzuki 250's twins . Removing the baffles , pulling out all the old jammed fiber glass packing , next was to mount each baffle in a vice and use a propane torch to heat up area by area on each baffle around the outside . As each small area was torched , a wire brush was used to scrape away all the black junk off the baffle . When they were all finished and reinstalled the exhaust systems were certainly much more free flowing and much easier revving engines with cylinders not fighting each other . Even a lot of licensed mechanics could easily overlook clogged mufflers with unequal cylinders and wrongly think that it's due to worn cylinders/pistons or even some wrongly believed it was time to re - jet carbs . Over the years I spoke to a pair of 2 stroke snowmobile owners and they also have removed old fiber glass packing congealed with old cooked 2 stroke oil that was clogging their mufflers and like me both would never put fiber glass packing into their mufflers again . Another thing was to use only synthetic 2 stroke oil you can't go wrong with that . The cleanliness of the exhaust was better , better cold starts with smoother acceleration , much less smoke etc . Hope that I've been some help for you all ! bye bye for now .
What are you supposed to use then ? I have an old 1969 Yamaha AT1 Enduro, and someone took out the whole silencer baffle, and it's to loud for my neighborhood ? I can't find any OEM, so I ordered a 4" baffle that is 1 1/2" at the end to fit. Just a small pipe with holes, but I'm thinking it's still going to be too loud, that's why I'm here.
@@dronai The only thing I could suggest there would be to try to find a good used replacement baffle or a whole exhaust of that same model bike . These are sometimes available through the cycle wreckers . You might be able to leave your name with the wreckers and they will search the system for you to locate that replacement exhaust . There also may be up to 5 or 6 other models of Yamahas that are 1 or 2 years older or 1 or 2 years newer that also may use that same exhaust . that would help your search . You might be able to search the system with your own private computer to locate another whole exhaust that you could clean and install . Hope this helps you .
Wow, what did you do to remove that rust from the exhaust? That is chrome right? I have a honda cm 125 and I've been wondering about how to make the chrome look better. I'm gonna blast and spray the frame and bits, probably take the wheels apart, buff the hubs rims and replace the spokes, but I don't wanna strip the chrome from the accessories and tank it's value. I also don't wanna pay a tonne of money for re-chroming :P
its weird occasionally i find a similar British bolt on my italian or japanese motorcycles but I guess they all share parts around the world. need to get some sandpaper and make myself an adapter like u
I can't believe they dont have allan keys in japan (you are in japan right?) I think you guys have a better version of philips screws and a type of star key right?
In the U.S. of A. we use keys for open and locking doors...not hardware removal, and we don't give them silly names like that, something more badass like maybe......
cripes , just by a screwdriver bit set , those tools are in there for that .Andy while your at it get some calipers , there quite important for accuracy . \
Yeah there's no way the rust came off that muffler with the contraception he was using. Just use some steel wool andl some metal polish. It's not like it's a trade secret.
Worked for me. I used back in the 70s for my CB350 after I got a ticket with drag pipes on it (young and dumb) and it worked so well , I left it in until I sold the bike.
I thought you might be interested in my latest discovery, inspired by your good self. Upon realising I was short on diamond paper I realised I should find an alternative. I cut a length of fabric reinforced pressure sensitive tape and inverted it on my workbench. A layer or organic ground aggregate was evenly spread on it,pressed and then the excess placed back into the sandpit. Et viola, a fresh custom graded abrasive paper!
That polishing machine is BAD ASS!

I did the same on my ebike exhaust and it is now as silent as it was 10 years ago. Thank you very mutch!
Seriously Dude - I'm going to add this to my inspiring stuff pile. Can I add you to my will? I think I should.
What made me laugh is the buffing mahine.
my son and I love these vids! we are both avid motorcycle enthusiests, especially cafe bikes. we recently watched the how to video of the screwdriver and such. BAAADAASSS! keep 'em coming man!
+George Mcmillan hey, thanks for watching George !
Candy floss works really well too!
I must keep an eye out for those diamond Swiiss shears your grand dad left you. Great tool....the shears that is.
+Mason Ringbinder I have a saved search and alert set up on ebay
Great vid as always, nice to see you continually adding good quality tools to your collection.
Most honorable Ichiban sir and superb mechanic it would give us great pleasures to offer to you highest of quality tools.
Freaking genius! I never knew how to remove those European security bolts! I always had to cut them off, drill them out, and then tap and die it! This will save me weekends of time. You're the best!
+beau danner you are very, very welcome !
Ichiban replied to my post!!!! Totally geeking out! :)
+Raphael Pilon never heard of them. My cousins name is Allen. Are you saying HE can do it?? I hope not. He's a moron.
Its an allen key bolt
Or torx bit...
Hold on big spender, you could have used free dryer lint. That is renewable high therminal protection and sound absorbing fluff, almost free of animal droppings.
Those bolts are socket head cap screws, they require an allen wrench to unscrew - Or a custom made adapter like you created.
Going to town with that buffer!
I love the packing material. Chosen with care. Made me laugh for 10 minutes.
+Lucky Goose it's the good stuff !
The english motorcycle muffler screen scissors, high temp muffler wire, and english security bolts were pretty good too.
wow there's no way I could have made this video look real without laughing or snickering good job
mufflers are serious business
Wow, an excellent idea making your own tool to undo the British baffle bolts. I've been using a hacksaw blade to cut a slot in them to use a conventional screw driver for years! Your method is much better. Thanks for the tip my friend.
+Triumph Rascal (Triumphrascal) and I'll be ready for the next brittish muffler that come in
I LOVE this guys vids! Subtle humor - hilarious.
It's actually best to keep the mice inside the muffler as they keep insects from building nests inside the muffler, as long as you keep feeding them when you cover the bike with insect netting so they don't starve they are beneficial to your bike thanks for the videos keep it up!
+big dolla I totally forgot about insects !
Those english screws are called Allen Screws, if you search on ebay you can find allen keys which are like a hexagon "L" screwdriver
They are made that way so that they can be used around corners.
I can't stop watching your educational channel... great laugh...keep going...please...
thanks for watching !
This guy rocks! Special tool to remove allen bolts, and sure no vintage muffler packing is complete without some proper aged mouse poop! ROFLMAO!!!
Said that, seems like a person who loves his work!
+Daniel Lemberg I do, I do ! :)
That's bad ass making a tool out of screw to remove those English security bolts, normally I use chopstick and took me days!
my grandmother has a vast chopstick collection
An Allen key would have saved that emery paper.
🤴🤴🤴
That is one bad ass hand polisher you have, works better and faster than my power drill. I gotta get me one of those!
and it never lets me down
thank you man i really needed this
tool selection is over the top 😀
right tool for the job dad always said
im baffled!
badass toolmaking
I don't have muffler screen can I use my wife's stockings I think they are heat resistant as she says she feels hot in them !
and attach stocking mesh with green zip tie or heat resistant construction tape ?
+Jeffrey Butt temperature grade assembly tape is a good replacement for muffler wire and is much cheaper than green zip ties
i love how you made that diy bolt extractor tool same principle applies when removing rounded bolts with a round wrench 🔧...
those scissors are way to big
i dropped my smaller scissors in the shag carpet and have yet to find them
What R value do you use? I use R15 for the summer and R25 for the winter cause its cold in Canada I also use a small allen key to poke the insulation right into the little baffle holes seems to keep the pipe a little warmer. ,,Just sayin
+Triplescanada I used RRR values... thanks for the excellent tips from the great white north !
Awesome! Just what I needed.
Ever heard of an Allen key wrench set?
And can you help with some advice on balancing carbs please? I had them on the scales for ages and they are exactly the same weight,a perfect balance but my bike still won't run nice. What am I doing wrong?
+Andrew Wilson maybe one carb is alloy and one is iron? watch my DIY Vacuum Manometer video on how to balance carbs.
make sure the carb oppsite the kick stand is slightly heavier because the handlebars won't turn if it isn't
Fun to read all the retarded comments on this stupid comment lol
That is Awesome tip!. I have some of that packing material in my attic.
now that's convenient !
That security adapter was bad ass!
+arcadeuk I keep running across the cam things
I'm building a electroplating bath and I'm having problems suspending the little nickel squares in the bath without contamination from the wire or solder.

Is there a big hole where the insulation used to be in your loft pmsl
I like how you kept talking after "make sure you pick the poop out" like you didn't just say that lol. Good video
it would burn off anyway.. but why not pick it out before assembly
i need tips on repairing a 2004 flywing mx150 Silencer its missing entire baffle and end cap. the end cap looks like it was torn off during a wheelie or something and it bent the very end of the silencer so i had to cut off about an inch of the piping still have a ton of space but now has zero mounts for baffle or end cap im a machinist but i dont know the assembly or whats needed
Sweet! the ultimate minimalist...
Great video, thanks! One question, for real you don't have Allen keys in your workshop? It's the first time I hear "European standard bolts". I thought Allen keys were popular all over the world...
What about the hexagonal tips?
hello wondering if you can help, my exhaust baffle broke from inside the exhaust and i have no idea how to remove it. so its bouncing around the cylinder while riding..
if you do not have allen screw wrenches you can use a bolt of the right size.
It is also a 6 sided pattern and you can put 2 nuts at the end to lock it in place.
Or take a long bold and and band it 45 degrees and you have a simple wrench.
I want to see Ichiban's wentworth adapter, Great video!
from metric or imperial
Are those bolts not allen acrews? They certainly look like it.
Man you make the Dollar store look like a swanky place
I'm needing to replace the cats on my parts truck, I think I could save myself the trouble of getting new parts and just repack them. Ichiban, were would be the place to order that performance grade packing material?
Tabby or ginger depending on the year of your truck
6 sided pattern? You mean an Allen head bolt? Those are pretty standard at hardware stores
Maybe they are where you live Mr fancy pants.
They are even standard at furniture stores .
I used on my exhaust fiberglass and warped it around many times. I see you use fiberglass cotton to wrap the exhaust. Am I going to have problems? Do I have to remove it?
Hello 👋 nice working👍 informative content
"make sue you pick out the little mouse poops"
that's solid advice right there
Good one. The pipe came up really nice How hard you compress the packing will have an effect on the sound, and how loud it is
+Paul Ford simple rule- the looser, the less louder

its weird occasionally i find a similar British bolt on my italian or japanese motorcycles but I guess they all share parts around the world. need to get some sandpaper and make myself an adapter like u
That diamond paper is some BADASS stuff. Funny I can't find it at the store.
maybe Nickel Town Customs?
That's badass making your own tools , probably takes 2 hour to make or you buy a set it comes handy
And the scissors where did you get it ?
I can't believe they dont have allan keys in japan (you are in japan right?) I think you guys have a better version of philips screws and a type of star key right?
About those bolts are they socket head cap screws , using allen keys to tighten them?
No you want to use hex keys.
+Beau Michna a hex seems like bad luck
+Ichiban Moto Ahh your right! Better to play it safe and sand down the screw.
What is the inconvenience to use the fiber glass wrap on the inside of the muffler, im using now, Anyone can explain me?
i love this guy !
Sure am Glad Most British Companies use Metric now
don't you have alan keys in the USA
In the U.S. of A. we use keys for open and locking doors...not hardware removal, and we don't give them silly names like that, something more badass like maybe......
+Branden Burnett In Norway we call them umbraco keys/tools
they are some type of British security fastener
No we don't..but we do have Keven keys they are almost the same but left handed .
I thought that to..lol
He didn't charge extra for the mouse poop, what a guy.
How long did it take you to grind that screw down
Is This Old Tony doing motorcycle repairs?
in the netherlands we use that kind of bolt all the time. this kind of bolt is not so easy to mess up so its easier to use. We call it imbus.
+Thomas Timmermans "imbus" lol
+Thomas Timmermans I need to search for an entire set of imbus
hello you can used fiberglass insulance to repack the muffler
glass has a very high melting point
cripes , just by a screwdriver bit set , those tools are in there for that .Andy while your at it get some calipers , there quite important for accuracy . \
I hate those British muffler security bolts so hard to get out hahaha
+TheDrummist88 ikr such odd thing
Allen screw
He made his own tool! Haha! Not tight at all!
they're bloody allen head for christ sakes
That's the joke people. Same with the "micron respirator" and the wall insulation for baffle packing
You ever heard of a hex key/allen key? Why are you making adapters?
What type of cushion is that...?
Damnn this is epic.. i will share your great work in my blog hahaaa..
haha ! why thank you so much !
Great vids, new fan here.... I wish, if possible to make a tuttorial how to bad ass clean a windshield
+Ricardo Tavares I will add that to the video list !
Thanks Ichiban! Looking forward!
+Ricardo Tavares send me your dirty windshield and I will use it in the how to video :)
Great, that will be totally bad ass! Sure, I´m going for a road trip this weekend, I´ll sending you the windshield asap...
im in canada and we dont call them english bolts its called WORLDWIDE allen keys
who is this allen guy?
Ichiban Moto wow you really dumb
interdit no tresspassing yes . everyone in the world uses ellen key except murica .
...... because 'murica !!!!
Hey Itchie, I hope the harsh remarks of your arctic neighbour haven't dashed your confidence - whatever Monsieur La Canada thinks, we believe in you!
Making a bit out of a screw was actually kind of neat. Totally MacGyver'd
Did I say neat? I mean kind of badass
Umm far from bad ass when he wasted time doing this. When a hex key would of worked perfectly. Cause I have same mufflers.
which type of fiberglass you used??
What flavour candy floss have you used?
+holynex strawberry !
maybe the funniest thing I've seen in a while. that buffing wheel was hard to top.
works badass !
Yeah there's no way the rust came off that muffler with the contraception he was using. Just use some steel wool andl some metal polish. It's not like it's a trade secret.
first !
Dammit!
i like how sketcy your tools are love it :)
you're handy guy, great
I’m second really my first name is Second my brother is turd sorry misspelled that third 😳
love your video haha
what's with the tools with all the duct tape ?
tool grade assembly tape
Is that isolation for a house
what tool u use to remove rust stain(the manual tool )
+Ethan Hunt that's my drill with a buffing pad
nuther way bad ass instructional video
what happens if fibre glass not used
exhaust is much louder
Nice video... bad ass!
very useful
where can I get those tools?!
+George Mcmillan I make some of them ..
You can also use steel wool to pack your baffles and it will probably last a lot longer.
i shall try that !
Worked for me. I used back in the 70s for my CB350 after I got a ticket with drag pipes on it (young and dumb) and it worked so well , I left it in until I sold the bike.
the tool is called an Allen Key everyone should have one for goodness sake.
you know what "imbus" Bits are? with them you could open the security screws
are there universal security bits ?
those are availiable in germany (allen key)
i need to make a trip to germany
Do that in Summer. ONLY IN SUMMER
I don't know.. the winters here are quite brutal .. I could use a winter holiday
Now I can tell my neighbors to shove it with the noise complaints. Thanks Ichiban!
+PistnRods good mufflers make good neighbors or is it good weed makes good neighbors?
LOOOOL
hahaha nice one with a scissors etc man great videos
subs from me
thanks for watching and sharing ! :D
They looked like everyday allen head screws
+Trev S who is allen?
Ichiban Moto its used on bolts and screws normally made from high tensile steel or exotic metals
+Trev S why can't they just use common fasteners. .. jeez
Ichiban Moto Allen key screws & bolts are of a higher grade material & specification - with tensile strength 2-3 times that of ordinary bolts
+Trev S seems silly for something as simple as a baffle
