When we got our turtles and were doing our research, it was said that it wouldnt be surprizing if the turtles dont care too much about you, but these babies (now almost a year old) are like dogs in our house, splashing water all around just seeing us (even outside of feeding hours)

I just (today) got a tiny baby painted (I think) from my sister. I added some larger rocks (already cleaned a million times), a single baby spider plant for him/her to destroy if he/she pleases. Added a baby Buddha statue and some tree bark with a nice smooth underside facing upwards for his/her comfort when climbing. Heat lamp is on its way. He's cozy in some room temp water. All of which is in a small baking pan for now. Totally unprepared but Verne is going to be very happy if I get good turtle advice like this! I've had my res for over a year now and he's such a funny little guy. We truly communicate if I go away for work come home he's jumps off his basking site comes to the glass to see me Everytime and winks at me so cute. Started hand feeding him as showed in the videos so cool as well. My guy bask for atleast 7 hours lmfao I keep my lights on from 8am to 7pm here. It's important you have proper lighting. Also please keep your turtle tank clean I see alot of people without filters just rocks. I see others with water browner then my own poop. It's terrible water should be Chrystal clear. Need a suggestion invest in live plants for turtle pee , invest in cat Cory fish for turtle poop and wastes and invest in pleco fish help keep the allergy at bay I've created and entire ecosystem over here we're only cleaning I do is water exchanges and filter replacements and cleaning the turtle himself. Other then that pretty straightforward on taking care of these guys.

I have recently bought a red eared slider, however when I place it in a water tank it will always go to an high altitude place, because it is trying to escape from the tank, and it is not even going to stay in water.
It is preferring to stay in dark place, like under table, is it is good for my turtle or I have to place it in water tank ?

Also small rocks like those in fish tanks or even sand can be problematic for some turtles, some don't recognize they are eating it and it can cause blockage and kill your turtle...

I kinda messed up.. My three turtles passed away. They were exactly the same small turtles as yours. I should have watched this earlier. Next time I get some turtles, I will follow these steps.

I killed my hatchlings . Its was very sad . Lesson learned . I have 2 large red eared sliders that are just living life . Right now they are in a pool pond in my basement . There pond is frozen solid . The pond is the hook up . Its fenced in and it is filtered through a biofalls . They have land and a dock . It also has cement blocks all the way around it . I stock it full of minnows and gold fish . Then I feed them lettuce and turtle pallets .

When they're babies they're so tiny. Then they grow up and it's like God damn, dude's the size of a hamburger.
