I discovered this on youtube loved it asked my father if he had heard of eloy, than proceeded to tell he has all of their albums from the 70s and loved them and that I probably heard it as a kid over and over. So anyways 2 generation have discovered and loved eloy. I was born in 1976

@@InGuyFawkesWeTrust1605 Nah. We all have things that nobody else talks about or even cares about that we just keep to ourselves. I had a similar moment not long ago when I was visiting my family, and my dad asked if I'd ever heard of a band called "Haken". I proceeded to gush about how they're one of my favorite bands and how I have every album and that I was listening to their newest one in the car on the drive over. Given that I've loved their music for so long, and that I was still living with my parents when I first started listening to them (probably a decade ago), there's just as much of a missed opportunity for my dad to have heard of them.

@@manfredpasch4094 Absolut richtig. Ab den Achzigern geriet die ehrliche Handarbeit ins Hintertreffen. Pop und Mainstream von der HD. Habs mitgemacht und fand jedoch auch selbst einige Titel gut. Da war und bin es immer noch, jedem Künstler, der es wagte, einen, entgegen dem allgemeinen Mainstream veröffentlichenten Titel,rauszubringen. Bin voll happy, weils mer imma no gewaltig taugt.. Man muss nur die richtigen Bands kennen, es gibt keine " in den 80igern war alles besser " etc. Wenn man sich mit Musik richtig beschäftigt, weiß man stets was aktuell die guten Bands sind. Wenn man aber immer nur an seinem "alten Kram " hängen bleibt ,ist man selber schuld. Als wenn es für gute Musik eine bestimmte Zeit gäbe, so ein Quatsch. Bin leidenschaftlicher Sammler, jede Zeit bringt geile Bands raus. Eloy war keine der "großen", habe einige Alben,aber nur 2 waren echt gut, " Dawn " war saugut und "Ocean " war gut, der Rest? Ich muss mir heute keine krampfhaften Neuerscheinungen dieser Band anhören, es gibt interessantere neue Bands, probiert doch mal z.B. Traumhaus "Das Vermächtnis " oder die Band " Mother' s Cake einfach mal reinhören, da geht die Post ab ( sind aus Österreich), aber bleibt nicht nur an " früher " hängen.

Lo cierto es que como guitarrista no es para nada sobresaliente, es un cantante promedio; de hecho, no está dotado de una gran voz. Como líder y compositor sí es un músico genial!

Danke für das Hochladen und Einstellen der Texte. Bin Jahrgang 62 und „Dawn“ und „Ocean“ habe ich so lange gespielt, bis ….ich sie nicht mehr hören konnte. Aber das ging wohl vielen Prog-Platten so.

This is one of the best albums ever. On a good sound system it is SUPERB.
I agree Jurgen Rosenthal is one of the best drummers/percussionists who ever tapped/banged on drums and cymbals.
Noteworthy, Jurgen Rosenthal wrote the lyrics for all songs in the albums "Dawn" and "Ocean": A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD AGREE THAT THEY ARE GREAT LYRICS.
+Kali Godbee ....and Jurgen was the drummer for the Scorpions 'Fly To The Rainbow' album. The absolute most underrated album of all time. In fact, if the Scorps were British, they would be billionaires by now. But Eloy, although totally differing in style and composition, was awesome, and then add Jurgen's skill set. I love it!!

History - influence on the German rock scene
Eloy was founded as a school band and played its first official concert on April 29, 1970 in the Ricklingen leisure center (Hannover). That same year, the band won a talent competition and was able to release two of their compositions as singles on an independent record label. In 1971 they recorded their first long-playing record for the Philips music label in Hamburg. In the 1970s, Eloy became one of the most influential bands in the German rock scene and was also very successful commercially. The band made the jump to EMI, one of the industry's major labels, in 1973. The musicians reached the peak of their career in 1979 with the album Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes. At that time the group consisted of Frank Bornemann (guitar, vocals), Klaus-Peter Matziol (bass), Detlev Schmidtchen (keyboard) and Jürgen Rosenthal (drums), who also wrote the lyrics.
Successes abroad
The albums Inside and Floating were released in the USA by Chess/Janus Records. After all, the music was so successful that Miles Copeland, who also worked for Wishbone Ash and The Police, offered his managerial services. After the label disappeared from the market in 1975, no successor was found who wanted to release the band's records.
The 1977 album Ocean was seen by some critics as the band's highlight. After the album's great sales success, there were concerts in other European countries, starting with France.
In Great Britain, the record company Heavy Metal Records (owner Paul Birch) acquired the publishing rights for the long-playing records Planets and Time to Turn in 1982. Both albums received new cover drawings by Rodney Matthews and were also released on picture discs, among other things. Performance and Metromania were also released by Heavy Metal Records (both also as picture discs). BBC Radio 1 broadcast an Eloy special in 1983, for which four pieces (On the Verge of Darkening Lights, Fools, Heartbeat and Through a Somber Galaxy) were newly recorded.
Dissolution, reunification
Despite the success, they separated at the end of 1979. Two members of the band devoted themselves to their solo projects. After two new musicians were added, the next LP was recorded in the spring of the following year. Despite a number of crises, which essentially involved a departure from the proven Eloy sound concept, Frank Bornemann managed to consistently represent his line until 1984. After a mini-tour in Great Britain, which was partly recorded by the BBC, and a few concerts in Germany, the group split up in 1988.
Fantastique morceau, fantastique groupe
Eloy ... ich war auf dem 2 mal verschobenen Konzert 2013 im kölner Gloria. Dabei zu sein war für mich wie ein Zeitsprung in die Vergangenheit. Solche Musik wie von Eloy kreiert, wird es wohl nicht wieder geben, es sei denn, Eloy bleibt am Leben und macht nochmals solche geile Lalla !!!
Ich habe schon seit sehr langer zeit LPs von der band, aber leider noch nie live ein konzert erlebt. die band ist einfach nur toll - hat es aber leider nicht geschafft, konzerte so anzukündigen, dass ich es mitbekommen habe. ich hätte sie liebend gerne mal live erlebt. die gruppe ist einfach nur toll - MEINE HOCHACHTUNG

@@JoLynRol Desole! It's name is Mandrake, amateur band in the 70s, released a few songs in 1997 after the band leader was forced to promise it on his sickbed. The recording quality is quite poor on half of the songs unfortunately (you know, being a band with no studio and all).
I would say listen to Mandrake - Kazari mado no dekigoto

Eloy war damals mein erstes richtiges Konzert, Düsseldorf Philips Halle, am 13. März 1978 (oops, beim Datum bin ich nicht ganz sicher. Ich war damals 13). Mann, war ich beeindruckt. Von der Tour gab's später das Live Album.

Lembro da década de 70, os caras mais velhos desfilando com seus LP'S de vinil, e Eloy sempre estava presente junto com YES, Jetro, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, etc. E de repente... sumiu. Na década de 80 eu ouvia às segundas aquele programa de Progressivo da saudosa Fluminense FM, e uma noite eles dedicaram um bloco inteiro ao Elói. e eu gravei, mas perdi a fita K7 . Ali eu havia gravado uma obra prima do Eloy, na minha opinião, que é "End of an Odissey".
Sensacional seu post reflete as lembranças dos anos 70 as bandas que você listou, tem uriah heep, king crimpsom e por ai vai, mas não está esquecida não. Parabéns 👏👏👏

Eloy music transfer you out of time and space. So many people dont know how good this band is. Thanks to my old friend who introduced Eloy to me ! Only band who come same level as Pink Floyd !
try genesis, yes, nektar, PFM, King Crimson, and enjoy the power of prog rock, pink floyd isn't the only band like that at all ;)
Pink Floyd are ridiculously overrated, animals is the only semi decent record they ever did in my opinion, not on the same level as Nektar or Eloy. That's just me though

Als Jugendliche hatte das Album schon eine faszinierende Wirkung auf mich. Ich höre es heute nach 40 Jahren wieder und bin genauso fasziniert wie damals. Aber die Tiefe der Texte hat sich mir erst heute erschlossen. Das Album werde ich mir speichern denn es könnte sein das es mir bei meiner persönlichen, spirituellen Transformation hilft. Как изысканно и тонко сыгранно,хоть и слышен явный немецкий акцент вокалиста
Переслушал почти весь eloy до2000, расцвет творчества пришёлся на середину 70тых, альбомы down, ocean, silent cries...., colour шедевры прогрока мирового уровня, более позднее творчество тоже высокого уровня, хотя и не вызывают такого восторга как указанные выше. Засилие клавишных привело к падению популярности, да и вокал всегда был самым слабым звеном Элоя

Da hast du absolut recht, mein lieber Freund. Ich bin fasziniert von ELOY, vom ersten Moment an, als ich sie in meiner Jugend erblickte. Ach , ist das lange her. Eine Ewigkeit. Und ich höre sie immer noch, am liebsten mit Kopfhörer, voll Power. Habe fast alle LP,s und auch CD,s . Der Hammer. 👍

Ich hatte das Glück 1976 in Krefeld. (Gnade der frühen Geburt :-) ). Ich liebe es bis heute. Wir hatten damals einen Eloy Fan-Club und viel Kontakt mit Bernd Guckelberger (Bandkontakt) und coole Backstage-Erlebnisse. War die beste Zeit in meinem Leben!

Eloy é uma viagem espetacular. Gosto de todos . Uma banda mais nova que acho parecido com Eloy é Hydria Spacefolk, também excelente.
