Dude as a Mexican I gotta tell you this shit was a major culture shock to me. I remember the first time I had a white people taco. I went to a friends for dinner and I legit was like “why y’all got breakfast (flour) tortillas at the dinner table? And why this ground beef look orange? Why did you use ground beef and not a better protein? And wtf this lettuce for? Where the onion and cilantro at?” Lmao but then I tried it, it turned out they’re pretty fucking good. Now I will gladly eat white people tacos. The bottom line is you shouldn’t define a person by the taco they choose (although the times I have made authentic arrachera for my friends and they’ve asked for lettuce or shredded cheese I do bust their balls a lil bit lmao but it’s in good fun.)
I’m half white but when I moved away from the border to Northern California. I told my new fully white friends that I was cooking/grilling for cinco de mayo. They learned what Arrachera was. But of course had to ruin it with extra toppings

They made us go to a team building day in a sweltering room, I got 100% on my training quiz and then they fired me for "Not getting through my training fast enough." For those of you who don't know the difference of white people tacos and real authentic Mexican tacos. Mexican tacos = carne asada mixed with seasonings and garlic, soft corn tortillas, cilantro, onions, lime, and homemade hot sauce. White people tocos = hard shell corn tortillas, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and bottled hot sauce. Both very good depending on the day. I may have missed some ingredients. It’s called white people taco to differentiate it from authentic tacos and because it was literally invented by white American and popularized by white American families as a tradition. Hard-shell tacos are not a thing in Mexico and that type of filling would never be used there. Gringo tacos or white people tacos has been around for ages. Funny how people get mad about it now.
It was invented by Texans of Mexican decent to sell to white people. It's 'Americanized'. Like Chinese food? You can't go to China and get that. It's white people Chinese food. It's Americanized and the fortune cookies were invented by Japanese in concentration camps during WWII.

For those of you who don't know the difference of white people tacos and real authentic Mexican tacos.
Mexican tacos = carne asada mixed with seasonings and garlic, soft corn tortillas, cilantro, onions, lime, and homemade hot sauce.
White people tocos = hard shell corn tortillas, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and bottled hot sauce.
Both very good depending on the day. I may have missed some ingredients. Everyone make them a lil different.
Real tacos sound really good but I love my sour cream ^•=•^
Not all authentic mexican tacos involve carne asada. There’s pastor, suadero, guisado, chicharrón, papa, fish tacos, etc etc

My fiance grew up eating the authentic tacos his family makes and he also LOVES sour cream on his tacos, so my recommendation to you is to get some tacos from a taco truck and then put sour cream on them. Also, try squeezing some lime on those tacos. So yummy.
We actually have many types of tacos, some of them with sour cream and lettuce too! We also have the steamed tacos and tacos with 1,999,999 types of fillings inside the wonderful soft tortillas.
In some parts of Mexico we add sour cream to tacos, in my city we do that it's delicious don't feel ashamed white people
