Melissa, the fact that you even had to make this video is so sad. You were beautiful then, and you are beautiful now. I am 28, and you are an absolute inspiration to me for aging so gracefully. Congratulations to you, for being an elegant and poised woman, no matter what people say, no matter the weight.
I agree. Some of these accusations will be malicious and not borne out of genuine misunderstanding. By answering them you risk fanning the flames and being drawn into a never ending saga. Now you've admirably addressed the issue Melissa, leave it be. You are a dignified lady and have no need to lower yourself any further to their petty level.

Hey Jackie. I have tried several of his products in the new line and I just didn't like them. They made my face greasy and my skin quality just didn't look as nice. My dermatologist was selling it and I spent a bunch on it and didn't like it. They even tried me on samples and I didn't like those either. So she just told me to stick with what I had always been using. A lot of people really like it though, so you might, too. I knew he wasn't affiliated with the old company, but it works so well for me that I hate to switch. I appreciate it so much! Love, Melissa

Why in the world would a stranger feel compelled to email someone like this and call them a liar after the person has answered the initial question? For Melissa to have to go through this kind of explaining really bothers me. Melissa is one of the most down to earth and grounded TH-camr's and doesn't deserve this kind of nonsense. I know for me at 55 yrs old, I have a more filled out look (compared to in my 40's) from not just mid life weight gain but from hormones as well. It happens, our metabolism slows down, fat distributes differently and we change as we age....deal with it naysayers! If you're lucky, you experience it for yourself one day....and if you're REALLY lucky you'll look as good as Melissa does!

You said something interesting, too, in that fat distributes differently. I think some of the skin under my cheeks is jowls. That happens as we age and I think it has settled there. Well the weight gain contributed, too. And being sick before. That you so much and I send you much love, Meissa
This is absolutely absurd that people would even care enough to email and message you about this. Weight gain and/or cosmetic procedures are entirely your personal business. You are beautiful and people are jealous and sadly often love to hate. You are an inspiration and there is so much more to you and what you bring to your channel than physical appearance. I think for the most part people can see how genuine and kind you are so just shake off the noise and be happy! You are a joy to watch and I learn so much from you. Thank you for doing your videos I truly look forward to watching !

Don't apologize for being beautiful. I can't tell you gained any weight... you look gorgeous. People are just rude and sometimes just plain ole jealous... do not let the views of some possibility mean spirited people hurt or stop you. I love your videos and sweet spirit... keep up the videos and we enjoy you! Your body may need the weight... don't rush... you look great check with your doc? I think you look healthy! As I said I can't tell.... stay well.
I agree...it's jealousy and insecurity that drives people sometimes....sometimes we can look better than we did five or ten years ago...this has happened to me, my teenage daughter and I were looking at some pics of me about 7-8 years ago, and she said mom, you look way better now than back then...I agree...I haven't had any work done, but just starting taking better care of myself, and caring more what I look like, and showing more interest in beauty...it pays off sometimes....!

Hannah Wiggins absolutely! Melissa and several other youtubers I watch and learn from have received similar comments... its uncalled for and rude.. if they don't like it simply change their viewing, but no need for being rude. These women put a lot of time and effort into these videos and I for one appreciate it. I have found so many great products and make up tips.

I had been sick with cold flu bronchitis for 4wks. just getting over it. My skin and hair look messed up. I did a hair mask yesterday so a little better now. I am new to your channel and thus far I love everything that I have seen. I just turned 50 and live in NYC. It breaks my heart to see you so vulnerable and more to watch you explain yourself about your look and your weight. I wish for the day in which we, women, support each other regardless of our looks. If our core values are limited to outside appearance then we are really in trouble. I think you look gorgeous and never ever feel you have to explain yourself. Don't pay any attention of what people say or comments your beautiful and aging beautiful I remember when I was younger I would let comments or people would say about me get to me now I'm don't care I'm care free .. people always going to talk regarding if your right or wrong 🤷

I just started watching your videos and love seeing your pretty face, beautiful hair and sunny disposition. I don’t see that “happiness” in people very often. I too am 62 and can relate to everything you are saying. Keep doing what you do- I’ll keep watching. You are such an inspiration to the over 60 ladies! All of the negative comments are from unhappy, jealous, miserable people. Ignore them.

I'm so shocked you would get those messages and emails! You are just absolutely lovely and I've just started a Retin A regime again after seeing your videos. I got a prescription about 18 months ago to start then, but my daughters took both my tubes (one with acne scars, the other with keratosis pillars on her face and neither live at home) so I needed to get another prescription or order online (I opted for latter, it will take me too long to go back to Dr). I'll be 53 in August and hope that I can look as fabulous as you when I'm 60. And you look younger every year! I love your most recent car videos, I laughed out loud at some of the answers!
I don't understand why women care what other women do. I have botox in my forehead, juverderm in my lips and silicone in my chest. Who really cares!? Melissa ...you are perfect the way you are. It upsets me to think you have had to deal with these type comments. Anyone can see from knowing you that you wouldn't lie to everyone. I am the same as you. I support what anyone wants to do in regards to Botox but it is not for me. I have fought hard to keep my weight down most of my life. I truly have a sweet tooth and I love ice cream too. I had some pralines and cream today! Afterward I told Danielle that I had to take a break from the ice cream. I have also gained 15 pounds since turning 50. I also have chubby cheeks with no filler! Also, I have Crohn's and have had 2 surgeries. I was terribly gaunt and actually lost 25 lbs. You naysayers out there need to get a life, and quit accusing Melissa55.

Yes, your weight can fluctuate wildly. I have naturally chubby cheeks, but when I am at my sickest, my face becomes gaunt. Found your videos only recently, and I love them. Most of my friends are much younger, and it is nice to listen to someone who is going through things that are more relevant to me in this stage of life. I am turning 60 in September...not really looking forward to it, but, it is better than the alternative!

I feel so strongly about this issue that for the first time ever, I signed on to TH-cam to make a comment. Melissa, I found you about two months ago quite by accident when you were reacting to an anti-aging ad photographed by a young model. I have followed you fervently ever since including many of your old videos. You exude southern charm, enthusiasm, positivity, and honesty. You have carried me through a long illness and two surgeries. There will always be people like those you mentioned, and I'm so sorry that you had to endure this ordeal. Girl, if you lived close I would absolutely love to be a good friend of yours. Stay faith-filled and happy!

Oh Melissa, this breaks my heart for you. You have been such an inspiration to me ever since I found your channel. My thought is that the world is full of people who are hurting. Their actions are a result of not knowing better, or not caring (which is worse because it's an indication of a hardened heart). You are one who strives to be a light in a dark place (the world), so the darkness either brightens or resists the light to squelch it. There is good news! The light (love/ positivity) always wins! Physics (laws of nature)even backs this up!!! What I would do is think of it as a test of your character. Meaning stay full of love and positivity (for me this is where the rubber meets the road in my prayer life). I am praying for you and your beautiful light to shine even brighter! Much love, Dawn

I do not even know where to begin. Jim and I are hooked on Dove's ice cream sandwiches at night, before bed. But, I had already gained weight from getting married, eating 3 squares a day and menopause. Here's the deal...I could lose weight but it would show in my face. My doctor said I'm not overweight for my age and height and since I'm not willing to have surgery/fillers I would rather my face stay fuller than my butt to be smaller. #%@# anyone even insinuating that you've lied. I have noticed a real uptick in TH-cam “haters” the last few months and it gets very stressful. I know I have gained weight and it does bother me.Getting older is tough and then doing it in front of the camera in front of thousands of people every week is not easy. I know it goes with the territory, but still, we have feelings and we work very hard to create good videos. Sometimes a soul just gets tired and needs encouragement, not negative comments. And how many people in our lives share all this that we are going through? Our community support is so crucial and just know I am always here. I feel like baby boomers don't take the aging process too well. In my mind everything is done and there's not much to look forward to. You are so beautiful, so sweet and so down to earth and your topics are very helpful because u cover so many things I'm unsure of at this age like makeup and what's appropriate to wear. What refreshing honesty, Melissa! I've only followed you for a short while and had no idea you'd been so sick with Crohn's Disease in the past. I think you are a beautiful woman, inside and out, and you have amazing, glowing skin. I'll be 62 in a couple months and you look easily 10-15 years younger than me! I am now taking much better care of my skin and use a retinol product a couple times/week. I've also started using Rosehip Seed Oil and really like what it's doing for my skin, especially the dryness around my eyes. I will check out Mary Ellen's channel upon your recommendation.

+Melissa55 Melissa...there's a Starbucks three doors down from my house. It's so close, I can crawl to it in my PJ's! The venti cinnamon dolce latte is my favorite, as well--so I know what you mean about stacking on the extra calories. In addition to limiting my trips there, I now ask them to cut the syrup to two pumps, and I've started getting the coconut milk instead of dairy.
Oh the temptations!!!! Oh yes, my favorite too. Now that's an idea to limit it. And you know I didn't realize coconut milk was less calories than cows milk! I'm going to do that. Thanks!

Dear Melissa, In my view you look younger and even more beautiful with a little fullness in your face! As we age, a little fullness looks youthful. Shame on anyone that accuses you of lying. I have gained a lot of weight in my 60's so I take my mother's advice and buy larger, looser clothes. When my clothes are a little bit loose, people always think I have lost weight. It is harder to take it off as we age, so I might as well be comfortable while I work on it. I too, love my ice cream :-). I am curious, why don't you mask?

Anyways, you look beautiful either way: skinnier or fuller, but I think your face looks better with the extra fat. Maybe you should consider not loosing all of the extra weight. Melissa you know the saying "misery loves company". That's what I truly believe when I hear about individuals saying hurtful comments to others. Ignore them! "Treat others as you'd want to be treated" That is how my mama raised me. I don't have time to shop around and experiment with skincare. I count on you to show me how to age gracefully! I'm 41 and I depend on your guidance and advise for skincare. Your regimen is quick and simplistic. Retina and obagi. I was spending hundreds of dollars on multiple products and then after watching you I replaced my eye cream with retina... brilliant! No more toner, etc. With thinning out my multiple skincare products I was able to take that money and buy obagi blender for nighttime and the other product for day time. Your a godsend!

I'm on my hormone roller coaster, and one minute I'm lean and mean, and the next I realize I'm eating everything in site and have gained weight. I think I've gained ten pounds, although I haven't stepped on the scale because I'm too depressed about it. Fingers crossed we can both get back on track! It's SOOOO hard!! Love you! Erin xo
