Melissa, I watch you faithfully so obviously, I enjoy you! I’m 70....so a bit older but you have been such an encouragement to my walk in life. I never took good care of myself and it shows,....but you’ve renewed something inside of me that makes me want to pay more attention to myself. You have helped me to rejoice in my senior years and have inspired me to care about all things that are part of me! Thank you so much for that! I’m a stranger to you but you are a friend to me!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. You know, I kind of feel like we've paid our dues and it's okay to take care of ourselves. I really do believe it's important to appreciate this age we are now. Some of the years have been tough for all of us at times, I have a feeling, so it's kind of nice to think of the things that give us joy. I really think it's a good example to set for younger people too. I remember my daughter told me she looks to me to see how to grow old. I take that seriously. Anyway, I'm babbling. I so appreciate this. Thank you for brightening my night. Love, Melissa

I really enjoyed this video not only for your thoughtful points but for your heartfelt sharing. Thank you! PS - My mom is 92 and does her morning "exercises" 5 days a week, is a fashionista and enjoys her makeup and skincare! I love when she looks in my car mirror and tells me how good she looks! It is the cutest thing ever.

Carol P - your note touched my heart. My precious fashionista mama passed to Glory last year. I treasure how she took care of herself. The day before she died at 96, she put on makeup before she saw the handsome firemen coming to take her to the hospital. She was on Facebook (by herself) and jointly we did her Instagram called Being 95. Please tell your mom she inspires me.

I'm 41 and am just beginning to understand what it may be like in later years. I do worry sometimes that I won't enjoy the aging process, but I really hope to. I am so grateful to you for your wisdom. People need to speak of this more. It's a fact of life and there is no reason we shouldn't be able to enjoy and appreciate this process. Thank you for sharing your joy and appreciation of aging.

Hi Melissa, when you talked about enjoying your age, whatever age it is, I thought of my mother. She always said that she could never imagine herself being 80 years old. That she knew she was “old” if she hit eighty, etc. Well, guess what age she passed at? 79! I will always remember that and know how powerful our words can be. She put a spell on herself! But she actually lived a long life for having 7 open heart operations (rheumatic fever when young) and 4 children. ❤️ Love your videos!

I'm so so grateful for you, Melissa. Although I rarely if ever write to you, I do watch all your videos and enjoy you greatly. Today, it was a special blessing to see you. You are a beautiful reminder that our health and well-being are not just about what we put on our skin or hair, although those things are wonderful as well, but more importantly, so much of our beauty radiates from the inside out. I love how you talked about having goals at all ages. At 68 years old, I continue to set and achieve goals large and small each day. I love you, and thank you for being YOU! xo

You made some very good points! Some days I still can’t believe I am in my 60’s...always heard my parents talk about how fast time goes by and laughed at it when younger. I do enjoy not having all of the stress of younger years and raising a family, to get to do what I want to do, when I want. Sure wasn’t that way when young...lol I had two daughters by the time I was 18 so it seemed I had to grow up fast and never time for enjoying me. Well, I do enjoy me now and it is one of the pleasures of getting old. Thank you Melissa I always enjoy your videos and your sweet smiling face!

This is so true isn't it? I can remember being young and hearing the "older folks" talk about time flying and kind of rolling my eyes. You really don't get much personal time with raising little ones. It's all about, well, getting them raised. lol. Thank you so much fo this, Sheila. I really appreciate it. Love, Melissa

This is a joyous video Melissa! I think exactly the same as you. I still get so excited about life and love goal setting. Last year a friend and I walked an extra 1000 miles as a goal and it was a wonderful experience. I'm 67, I feel fabulous and I have every intention of staying that way. I refuse to consider any alternative! Keep on with these lovely posts, they warm my heart xx

Wonderful "tips"! I actually follow a lot of them. After too many years of not caring for my body (smoking, drinking, not sleeping enough, eating poorly, etc), I'm probably the healthiest internally than ever (at 63) since I've quit all that nonsense. Now I suffer with sciatica, but my husband and I hike portions of the Appalachian Trail yearly. I've put in a few hundred miles now and that's the only time my sciatica doesn't act up! Walking, climbing those Appalachian mountains, and sleeping in a tent for weeks on end make me feel youthful again! Amazing! So I'm a firm believer in STAYING ACTIVE, whether it's exercise in your living room or a gym, or bike riding, yoga, swimming, running...whatever you can do to stay active is a good thing. And having a hobby is great too. Keep the mind active as well! I am an artist, and I try to stay involved with my community art group. I just love your videos...you seem like such an sweet, genuine, Southern belle (Tennessee? Kentucky?), and I thank you for your videos.

So many gurus on every single thing nowadays, but just from this video I can learn principles that apply to many aspects of life:
    - Few quality spending. That work that best for you > Many low costs that wear out.
    - Less is more with moisturizers. Make the body work.
    - You get to enjoy growing old. Many ppl would give everything to live to 65
    - goals. Having goals and Achieving them are not just for success but for feeling good. A goal can be showering for the day :)
    - Weightlifting. Yoga, be as limber as i possibly can
    - Sleep on your back

Melissa...so many of my thoughts echoed and the ability to laugh at and with ourselves to keep aging in perspective and not let it become a negative if it can be a positive...😊....I was so happy to see your face. We were heartbroken about Nashville and looking at places that were damaged or gone where we'd been last year on our visit. Those awesome people that were up at the crack of dawn in the community volunteering and fixing yards and homes for the ones who had suffered damage and loss.. just warmed my heart to see that. It's good to know you're well honey...🤗🌹

I loved this video and you are so right about staying limber, keep moving, stretching, etc. I found out after my knee replacement surgery that it is an ongoing daily routine. I made the mistake of thinking I would be 100% when I finished physical therapy so I stopped doing stretches, etc and when I tell you my joints froze up and it was painful just to walk, well let me just say I won't be making that mistake again. Enjoying our age, that is another thing I want to copy my mother on and from what you have said about your mother the same thing applies! They both sound like not only were they beautiful women but they held their heads high and took each day with a spring in their step! Lord willing, let all of us mature women be the best we can be b/c we are examples not only for others but for our children and grandchildren! Love and Hugs sweet Melissa!

Hi, l recently started watching your videos. I'm 67 an have also used retin a since my 40s. I've found it works better than anything. I've always been a side sleeper but hated the wrinkles on my declotee. I use that little horse shoe like pillow...you use for sleeping on airplane. Keeps you sleeping on back and keeps your face up.

I also used Mary Kaye back in the 70s. And I've been washing my face the same way as the consultant said also. Remember how the wash was? Using that balm stuff with water? It's so different now. I have such a hard time sleeping on my back bc I have chronic back pain. I've tried everything and just can't get comfortable. I remember when you talked about the ears in one of your previous videos and now I always take care of my ears every time now. All great tips ❤💚💜💙💛
p.s. Another tip is to wear gloves when cleaning. I've been commenting on young women's TH-cam cleaning videos to use gloves. My sister has used gloves for years and her hands are so much younger looking than mine. Water and harsh chemicals will age your hands so fast.

    • @Melissa55
      @Melissa55  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh my gosh, yes. That balm really got it off. Remember mixing your mask? I think it was probably oatmeal based. Now yes, you might need to sleep where it's best for your back. I notice ears now, and it does make a difference. lol Thanks so much, Cathleen. Love, Melissa

I love your tips! I do yoga daily and it does wonders for keeping limber. I've heard you mention no moisturizer in the past and it makes sense to me, but I struggle with this one. Also, regarding sleeping on my back I seem to go in fazes. I'll be on my back awhile and then all of a sudden I'm back to sleeping on my side. I need to get better at that. I love glycolic acid for all over the body thanks to you and sharing that in the past (Glytone). Thanks beautiful Melissa. I'm in my 50's and whatever advice you give I'm going to listen, because you're one of the most gorgeous 60+ year old woman I've ever seen. Lots of love xo

Hello there Melissa, all the way from South Africa. You are a beautiful lady
Thank you for your wonderful channel. I really enjoy it.
These hints i have used for 45 yrs, it was passed on from my grandmother who btw lived to 94.
They may sound silly but it doesn't harm the skin.
Not able to afford cleanser or a face mask many yrs back I used to peel my potatoes when I came home, clean all my makeup off and gently rub the peels on the face and let it dry. It tightens the skin beautifully. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Last but not least I take some handcream and put a teaspoon of sugar in my hand, gently rub til sugar melts and rinse off with lukewarm water, I even use my sugar and cream to get a lovely cleanse for my face. So soft afterwards.
    Take care.

Keeping your arms and upper body strong is so important! In the past few years on two separate occasions, I've been witness to two elderly ladies (then in their 80s) fall down and were unable to push themselves up from the ground because of weak upper body strength. They were both very embarrassed by it and accepted only minimal assistance, taking them each a very long time to get up. Pretty arms are very nice to have, strong arms are essential.

You are beautiful. I'm 45 year's old. Always been a Skincare junkie. I have been using anti- aging skincare since l was in my early twenties. Lots of sunscreen too. I now use a good handful of products with skincare that l really like, l stick to that because it work's. I'm a new sub and enjoy watching your video's. You are honest, cheerful and have a beautiful smile and personality, that is also key to good health as well how we age. It shows on our face as well our skin. I never rub my face, always gently pat it when applying my skincare product's. l let my face breath a bit with a jade roller for circulation. Small thing's we all can do to make a big difference in our skin's appearance overall is important. Does not need to be costly, like you stated and l agree 100%. Small changes can make a big difference. Keep smiling beautiful. Beauty comes from within first before it can shine to the outside. Much love from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦♥️

Love this video Melissa. Your tips are spot on and I agree 100% with everything you’ve shared. Age is an attitude and if we think young I believe we’ll feel younger. Simple goals of moving and staying limber work for me but I need to ramp it up a bit and start listing some weights. Thank you for sharing this Melissa.

Oh man, this video needs to be required viewing for all young women. Some seriously wise tips, and sharing what has obviously worked for you, my sweet friend. 🤗. I can knock a small child down with my long bat wings, and tend to curl up tight, on my side in the fetal position...waking up with sheet wrinkled face that can stay till mid morning. Ha I loved this video, as you have a gift of sharing your wisdom, that’s always sprinkled with humor and compassion. ❤️. I love you, as always!

I am 25 but I am loving what you’re sharing. It’s interesting to see the perspective of someone who has all this life experience. You have a such a warm voice and kind message! Thank you for sharing your advice 🤍
In regard to your moisturiser; when did you stop using this? I find my under eyes and eyelids really need the extra moisture, did you have this? Did it get better once you stopped using moisturiser? Was there a transition period?
I would love to see a video of things you wish you did when you were younger for your future! Or things that you are glad you started doing when you were younger!
Also a video on your diet if that contributes to you looking so great!!!
    Thanks 🤍🤍

Oh my gosh Melissa, I needed this. I think I need to stop the moisturizer- I have natural oily skin and I have noticed since I have been wearing it my own natural oils and glow have left the building! Will experiment to see if tightness comes back! Glycolic on the décolletage and arms and hands here I come- I have same spots. Sleeping on back I just started and yoga! 50 has hit me hard -to accept the aging, but there is goodness to it also and many don’t see old age so it is a blessing! 😊

Hi lovely Melissa. I respect you and your opinions. I think you are a special lady. Just so you know. I am 52 and I am with you on moisturizers. I buffer my 1% Retin A with it to stave off irritation. Aside from that I have never used it. I have tried to. I feel like everyone else does. But I don't like it. Never liked it. Only recently I have heard specialists say you don't need it. Cody Montarbo says that and Dr. Stefani Kappel says that. Pretty sure Penny too. And when I hear it said I think "I knew that!" In fact I think skin becones dependent on the stuff. It gets lazy. So then you need moreccx and richer and better. Just stop is what I'd say to someone. Stop and the skin will adjust. It is smart.
I am glad you share my sentiment about moisturizer.
Here is to more happy days. Wishing you love peace good health and happiness - this cannot last forever...can it?
    Lol...no!

I love Mary Kay products. Oh yes, sleeping on your back is great, but it is so hard for me to do. Oh I don't want to look down into a mirror. I hate even when I have to bend over and reach for something. Your hair looks so lovely. lol, oh those spots bother me so much. Melissa it is so important to stretch and strengthen. You are totally correct. You don't appear to be aging at all!

Hi Melissa, I was thinking of you this morning because of those terrible tornados in TN. I am so happy you and your family are all ok. It is heartbreaking to see the devastation on the news. I enjoyed hearing your beauty tips. I don't do well with moisturizer either. I always seem to break out because my skin isn't dry. I have tried different creams or moisturizers and it doesn't work well. Exercise is so important to keep limber and healthy. I use some stretchy bands and light weights. I love that royal blue color on you. As always your hair and make up look lovely too. I hope you have a beautiful day! I'm going to go organize my art studio. That is one of my goals! Love, Karen

I am 23. You are such an inspiration to go on about self care! I have good skin, received compliments on it several times. Part genetically from my parents, part from my taking care of it ever since I was 18. Careful with what I eat the last 2 years *been having some digestive issues because of some ptsd issues*. About stress, I can't say I do it well but I try. Its hard. But mindset matters a lot! I think the most, and then it is the self care.
I admire you lots. Hope I get to age beautifully like you. Much love from the rural fields of Romania!

HI Melissa, Mary Kay was my first venture into skincare too! And I remember the directions just as you described. You look beautiful, so whatever you are doing is certainly working! I hope that I can look half as good as you when I am your age. 💖 Great idea about putting sunscreen on the ears. Bat wings... you made me giggle. Stretching is so important, I have noticed big differences since I turned 50 in how tight my muscles have become. I really want to start doing yoga. Goal setting is so important, I always like to have something to look forward to. I loved this video Melissa! Lots of love, Cathy xoxo
