    1. Dark Brown Madder Silk Pocket Square with Navy Bronze Green Diamond Motif and Paisley - gentl.mn/2RvNjPU
Most of us have an idea of what denim is but not many people know of where it comes from or why it was created. It actually has a very interesting origin but down by definition, it is a sturdy cotton twill fabric, typically blue, used for jeans, overalls, and other items of clothing.
    How is denim created?
First, cotton is harvested and then the seeds are separated from the fiber. Then the cotton fiber's spun into yarn, the yarn is then dyed to a specific color and then that yarn is then woven into denim. Denim can be processed in a few different ways; one unique way is raw denim. Now, what is raw denim? Well, it's actually denim that has not been washed after it's been dyed. Now, the color might be more rich than any other washed denim, however, the fabric will almost certainly let out extra dye when washed or agitated. Another popular category of denim will be selvage denim. What is salvaged denim, you might be asking? The term selvage refers to the edge of the fabric after it leaves the loom. Now, this edge is created by continuously passing the weft back and forth through the warp. Fun fact, it actually takes about three whole yards of selvage denim to create one pair of jeans. Now, the fabric is edged against itself, therefore, making it more durable as it will not unravel. Now, it's not uncommon to see different components within the denim creation within different brands.
How do you know what to look for when shopping and what style works best for
    you?
Understanding where you fit within the broad spectrum of body types will help you better understand what to shop for. There are typically three main body types that most men will fall into, keep an eye, not everybody is going to fit squarely into just one body type. Many people will find that they have components of many of these different categories.
The first category we're going to look at is the ectomorph. This is also known as Cerebrotonic. Now, this individual is very lean with narrow chest and shoulders. It typically have very low body fat and maybe have a more difficult time putting on size.
Second major category we're going to look at is the mesomorph, also known as Somatotonic. This individual usually appears muscular and appears quite strong and usually will not have a major amount of body fat on them.
The last major category we're going to look at is the Endomorph, also known as a Viscerotonic. Now, these individuals usually have narrow shoulders and carry a little bit more body fat.
Paying attention to our overall body features, bone structure, and how easily it is for you to put on size and muscle will help you understand where you fit within the broad spectrum of body fit.
What style of denim should I actually be buying?
Ectomorphs, for example, have a much simpler time wearing slim, skinny, or even a more modern spray on style than people of other body types. The more endomorphic individual usually finds that a regular or relaxed fit would fit better. A straight fit might also work as long as it's not uncomfortable on the hips and seat. Mesomorphic individuals have a little bit more wiggle room in terms of what they can choose for denim styles. Now for these individuals, muscle size and their waistline will help determine what styles they should or should not be wearing.
What color should you be getting?
One of the most popular color options will be a dark wash or an indigo. This color is very deep, offers great versatility, and always looks great with a sport coat or a sweater. Now, be aware, the dye is quite rich and can transfer on to other fabrics so color setting is very important.
The next popular color choice you should consider is a medium washed denim. This is a great year-round choice, you can easily pair this with sneakers, boots, a polo or even a button-up shirt.
The next popular color choice you should consider is a nice light wash denim. Now, this particular color is usually going to look best in the summer and overall, warm months. This color also tends to look a little bit more casual than its darker counterpoints.

Jeans production isn't sustainable and eco-friendly. According to various sources, dyeing denim takes like 3000-4000 liters of water for just one pair of jeans. Better invest in quality than fast fashion or overpriced, trendy brand names. Or buy second-hand.

    • @taobeloney3386
      @taobeloney3386 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Bro if you’re on this channel you should know that cheap clothes are unsustainable and short-lived. It’s literally just a thing we consider when buying clothes, we want to be able to buy more and nicer stuff later. Get a grip on reality.

    • @spotsill

Stay within your economics don’t go crazy with the credit card there are lots of better quality vintage brands available. Thrifted and vintage is probably the most eco friendly option. That said I would definitely go with the cheapest option for outdoor work or nature hiking.

9:20 I'd love to see some comparison or examples on what you get the more you pay. I'm asking as sometimes when I compare items of varying price points I can't see any differences what so ever. E.G. I compared two different pair of socks once and after comparing how they looked, what they were made of etc. the only differences I could see was the packaging and the price (one pair was about 2-3x more than the other).

I get my jeans from a local chain that's very similar to GAP but cheaper (since they're unbranded). they last me for 3 years at most, and after 3 years they just give in and rip right at the middle seam (happened to me at work 4 months ago, very embarrassing XD). I think that's a pretty good life spam, given the price and the fact that I wear the same pair of pants for 5 days straight before tossing them into the dirty pile (unless they get stained before 5 days have passed), and I work at a semi-physical job that requires frequent heavy lifting (I use my legs as a leverage when lifting heavy and light stuff. never use your back for heavy lifting, it will dedstroy it).

As much as I like and appreciate the classic men’s style I have to stick to a more casual rugged style to make the most of my esthetic and body type. When pea coats and chore coats are long enough to be overcoats 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Continued success in the new year.

At 6'2 and 148 lbs yet also having a muscular body, I recently realized my whole life I've been wearing jeans that are WAY too loose. Relaxed fit size 32 when I have a waist of 30 and rather trim legs. I've only last week upgraded my chinos to slim fit size 30 and the difference they make in my frame is absolutely astounding. While jeans will be a bit more tricky (given the rough fabric I don't want it too restrictive!), I'm hopeful I can find them from a retailer who does slim men's jeans well. Thanks for showing me what I always suspected but never did anything about!

If you actually wear jeans for work
Baggy jeans with shagged ( cut off hems) are preferred for safety. IE a timber faller clear cutting an old growth redwood stand 2000 years old may get caught in slash. The unhemmed jeans will rip instead of causing a fall.
Conversely, western riders aka cowboys, punchers and buckaroos (Texas, Arizona and the high plains respectively) wear tight jeans to prevent chafing from the saddle.

Can you guys review Make Your Own Jeans products in a video? They make jeans, shirts, sport jackets, and other items. They are only $70 for 3% lycra jeans. I used to buy Express jeans for $50. I now purchase my jeans at Make Your Own Jeans, because I am extremely thin and even the Express skinny jeans look proportionally large on me. You just need to account for the stretch when you give your measurements, and it could take a few tries. My only complaint is the stitching is uneven in areas.

I wear them to school, to the office, church, parties, church parties, graduations, dinners, fund raisers, amusement parks, funerals. No one ever said a thing. Eventually I started wearing sweatpants, but I got a few dirty looks, and yoga pants are too controversial. Great vid, I'll have to give denim another try.

Is it possible to alter a quilted jacket? A bit random but I really need to know.

Anything is possible but it would look bad, unless you just want to shorten the sleeve

I liked the Gin and Tonic joke a lot. Thanks for the laugh. The video is well made and very informative as always. My only complaint is, I can not agree on "you get what you pay for" when it comes to denim. While there are really poorly made very cheap pants, I never really experienced any difference in terms of quality from medium to high end denim. My Levis, Nudies or even quite inexpensive Denim by C&A are just as durable as my higher end Denim. Some Designer brands sell very expensive pants, without any benefits over much cheaper counterparts .

The theme of Japanese denim is not disclosed at all. "Big John", "Iron Heart", "Samurai Jeans" and many many others...

Дмитрий Голосов Yes, the best denim/jeans today for the most part are being made in Japan.

Some of my favorite jeans come from Mavi. I have huge freaking thighs (that only permit me to wear pleated pants) and so when I put on their relaxed fit jeans with the stretch, I feel free!

One of my favorite brands too. It's also more affordable because it's a domestic brand here.

Thanks for this vid. Pretty hard to find jeans with muscular legs and it's exhausting looking for them.
