My theory about the other 2 failed scout-fusions we are told about: if we go with Matt's idea that it was planned from the start, I think the term 'failure' in that context didn't mean failing to make a mindless zombie - quite the opposite - I think they had tried to make a co-dependent two minded puppet man in the past (it is a vital step in the plan after all) like we end up playing, but the two previous attempts ended up being the usual feeder type hosts. I think that at the end, our puppet doesn't quite takeover our mind but rather shares the same consciousness as our character. That makes more sense as if it had swapped minds, we should have been able to look around from the puppet's view for at least a moment. Edit:I also think that the sharing consciousness makes more sense as we know that the puppets don't know how to read. I haven't played the game but I'm pretty sure that the mind swaps don't let puppets have our memories. Which would make MatPat's theory pretty weird as the puppets also need someone that could actually read. Also what happens when we use up all 5 puppets?
@@justjudeanimations3968 At first I thought it was Scot or something. But based on this theory, that name is oddly relevant. A scout after all, is the first one on site, and the one gathering the initial information
8:52 no nonono no no, no. You put the tea bag in, then hot water so the tea bag can start brewing asap, then the sugar so it can dissolve while the tea is still hot, brew for as long as you prefer, THEN add the milk. If you don’t put the milk in last you either get sugary sludge at the bottom or sugary sludge in a weak tea.
I just left a similar comment. I feel like MatPat dropped the ball on this episode by not following through to that same ending. It to me seems like it would be necessary to find that out to have a acceptable ending to this theory. Ya know? Other then that, like normal, it was another great episode.
As much as I like this theory, does it have one major flaw: The game (or the characters to be exact) never mentions that you body swap in that you both change bodies. Your puppet even tells you when you did it for the first time: "Where you... where you just inside my head?(!)", so you can assume that she remains aware and in her body, but just loses the control while you're in. So this is a major point that destroys this theory as there is no proof that she gains control of your body while you're controlling her. Or else could she have easily done some other things like idk... Killing you in the process to keep your body. I still believe that the entire "letting you go on purpose" is a plausible thing and would make sense, but, to be honest, you could also just say that the host for Mortimer is still "alive" and tries to fight against what Mortimer does, by making him (unknowingly) give you opportunities to escape, which is why the ritual didn't work 100% and why he gave you clues and ways to escape.
There is also the whole Illiterate thing, Scout isn't illiterate she just cant read human language, just like you cant read puppet language if you change to scout when you see all the weird puppet writing you can read it., secondly she does bleed out, the whole walk to the exit shes loosing bits of magic or fluff or something, and we see another puppet died from massive internal injuries earlier when we find part of mortimers key inside the insides of a puppet so we know that they seem to have the same weakness to dismemberment as humans.
Yeah this is one that doesn't make as much sense as his others. Scout isn't conscious during the mind swap and isn't even willing to do it anyway. And if they could swap bodies why not do it immediately? and even if we did switch bodies why would we die if he said she couldn't die because she is one? But yeah i think it definitely i think so too but hey that's just a theory.
@@noisehero4409 unless they can't do it without either A a special person or B idk what b is but there is other possibilities. edit, don't ask my how I managed to forget what B is by the end of the sentence, idk what happened, I know I had two or three ideas in my head and then suddenly they are gone.
My first thought was it's just a part of the ritual, like, in order for the ritual to finish, one must be invested emotionally into the puppet, and giving a clear goal "to escape" is a quick solution. And the ending is the part where you just completely lose your own mind as Scout's "death" makes you invested enough for the ritual to finish
Matpat! Matpat! The game, when it ends starts you over with one less puppet each time. So what if to get the secret ending you have to play and keep playing untill all the puppet choices are gone?
Additions to your Theory: 1. Isn't the name of the Puppet "Scout" a bit ominous? Like, she is the scout for the puppets, the first one to visit the outside world as a puppet mind in a human body so she can investigate how the second part of the puppet's plan, to restart the show and take over the world, can be executed. 2. Maybe when you sit in the theater with the ending credits rolling, it is actually the Scout puppet with your (the human's) mind inside it and that's how they "get rid of" or continue torturing you.
I alwayw sleep with the FNaF playlist, never had any nightmares to be honest i had the direct opposite, i didnt dream at all and i always have a good sleep :D
OK so at the end of the first Playthrough, one of the puppets are missing when you try to play again, what if you were to keep playing until all the puppets were gone, does it just restart? Or would something else happen?
Friend just played through the game. The puppet reset and he had them all (meaning no missing puppet). Showed me this video of another youtuber taking each puppet. They are representative as save files. th-cam.com/video/7kSnZKJkZxA/w-d-xo.html&t Just watch first 3 minutes. If someone has any counter evidence please let it be known. Unfortunately with the knowledge of this now, Matpat's theory holds to nothing really but still a fun watch. Please keep going Matpat as your theories are always fun and always can't wait for the next one. I will be reposting this on a bunch of comments asking what happens so word gets out. Please tell me I'm wrong if you have substantial evidence.
@@anthonygonzalez5724 No evidence, but only having five 'hosts' isn't likely to be successful under most circumstances, so maybe they make multiple 'batches' for more influence. Of course, if they did a puppet maker, or RNG designs, it would seem more likely, but at the same time, if they take over the bodies, the puppet itself doesn't matter. But thats under the poor assumption that they can create other puppets, which leaves me questioning, maybe they condition and recycle the minds of the hosts to re add to the puppet bodies. Because the voodoo spell doesn't mention creating puppets, so they have to do it themselves. The 'souls' can come from the people in the meat locker
i have still one question: in the second playthrough we are not allowed to take the same puppet but what happens after that in the third playthrough are now the two puppets not takeable? and if thats so what is after the 5th playthrough? (or how many puppets are there. Lets just say what happens when every puppet is used?)
Since he never mentioned it, id bet all 5 of them come back. If it was something important, there's a good chance he would have tested and mentioned it.
It would take some time testing by completing the game 5 times. However, as it's for his job and he also has people working for him that could do that, I see no reason for him not to try :)
“If you’re British you would argue that you pour the milk first.” As a British person myself, I am EXTREMELY insulted at this. It’s common knowledge that you place in the teabag, cry for eighteen minutes, and THEN put the milk in. Smh American stereotypes are wack.
When I saw the ending I thought scout losing an arm and dying was symbolism or a nod to the player character actually losing their arm thus killing scout and then dying.
Question: At 12:00 are you able to play through the game again? And if so, when you complete that play through, are there 2 puppets gone and so on? What happens when there are no more puppets by doing this?
I'd like to see what happens if you play the game over and over against until you have no more puppets to have sewn on to you and see if there's any other dialog.
Being human doesn’t always mean you can read which means that maybe something else is happening. Now scout is human but can she run the tv show, no she can’t because she is still a puppet at mind.
Ok so question (and I realize this may be a tedious process), when you end the game and come back it effectively restarts but doesn't give you the option of choosing the former puppet. So what happens if you finish the game again with that new choice? Do you come back a third time except now two puppets are missing? If so, what happens if you keep going until there are no puppets left to choose? Different ending perhaps?
What happens if you play through all of the puppets? Do you get a different ending a real ending? Since each puppet you play disappears you would have to play through like the whole game like five times. Has anyone done that? And just seen if there was a different ending after that?
I noticed something! In the theatre, he said "teddy bears" but when I looked closer, they were the puppets you could choose from! Coincidence? I. Think. NOT.
12:20 does anyone know what happens if you keep playing through after a second run through? Do you get even less choice? What happens if there are no puppets?
I was thinking the same thing?? Like I don't have VR, but if someone does (it will take a while), can you play through until you don't have a puppet?? What happens after
Please do candle cove, it’s a terrifying story of a Tv show that “never existed?” But.. when people look back to find the show all they found was.. static. & yet kids will stare at the static for HOURS telling their parents all about the show.. I think that this is a video for film theory that needs to pick this show apart! Because it’s quite the story.
My one anecdote on this: “if you’re british you’d argue you should have put the milk in first” and I would like to say absolutely not mate the milk goes in after. Madness I tell you.
Yeah, I never put milk in first. It's sugar, teabag, water and then milk! Seriously I hate it! And I like the...typical british things like tea and crumpets.
Yeah milk shouldn’t go in first. The only reason people originally put the milk in first was so the cup didn’t break. That’s how me mum (a milkfirst psychopath) explains it. I think it’s blasphemy.
I believe that in order to play any more playthroughs you would have to erase all your progress, because iirc when you finish a playthrough, the Scout you chose will appear in the beginning and cant be interacted with again, and that Scout will be unable to be chosen again.
@@dakotawierwille6906 So it just softlocks? Weird, you'd really expect something to happen in a game when it's counting down iterations and you get to 0. I honestly was expecting him to circle back to that since he points it out...

"If you're British... You would argue to put the milk in first..." Oh Boy. You've got the whole of the UK angry now Mat, please watch the Cuppa Tea song before it's too late aha
Nice theory, but it doesn’t matter which puppet you choose at the beginning, it will always be scout, just in a different body. The chosen puppets are all replicas of the same consciousness. She isn’t like any of the other puppets either. She wants to get out and leave after she came in contact with our world. That’s why she stopped rhyming like everyone else does. If Mortimer really did it for his plan he wouldn’t have chosen her, especially since he’d know how risky it was. I think it just didn’t work because she didn’t really want to take control of her host and doubted what Mortimer wanted. When Mortimer noticed what was going on he obviously wanted to play a cat and mouse game since it was different from any previous experience. That’s why you can still be killed while running away. It would be strange if he let you die if that was his goal. I still think scout might have swapped bodies with us, her host. It would fit her character because she never seemed to fully be with us. Her host was rather a tool to escape than a friend.
@@dakotablount251 that's your opinion and I respect that. I just tried to debunk some of the things Matpat said but still keep some of the elements of his theory. Have a nice day
My theory is mortimer is actually trying to do the exactly same thing that happened to your character but the dead body bag is the failed attemp but well that`s just a theory A FAN THEORY
what if it’s that they’ve been attempting this process for a while now and haven’t been able to succeed?? i mean it’d explain the excess amount of bodies cause why would there be SO many bodies if they aren’t failed attempts? in addition it’d explain the continuity factor as well. since it continues without scout there, were able to assume that it is a continuous storyline, so this new character is simply just the next attempt. our character DOES mind meld with scout like matpat said, but the makeshift theatre at the end is us complacent there after another failed attempt by the theatre but more specifically by scout herself, which is why they point out in the beginning thats she’s already failed before and this is her last chance. since it’s her last chance, her sentience was drained by mortimer after she failed again. which is something he didn’t wanna do, thus him being helpful throughout (alongside wanting to get the show started as well) idk though just something i thought of that still kinda follows matpats theory but also ties up some loose ends!!
If they drain the life force from people, those bodies could also be the husks left after being drained. That energy would only last so long leaving a need to drain more, and they can't just lure people in, partially drain them, and let them go back out able to draw attention to their evil activities. I do think the puppet bodies in the final theatre's scene are the ones who failed too many times and the ones left behind with the puppet bodies after the mind swap.
Hey Matt! I have conspiracy that I might think will help with out with the lore of the game, What happens if you use *ALL* of the puppets? That’s something you might wanna try!
Exactly, what if there's another game or a continuation of the game? The credits seem like a "fake" ending and you start over. To give a clue that hey you have to keep going to get "free" if its not a door you go through like said in the video, what if you're supposed to play til you finally go through a door even if its going through the stage door and starting the sitcom you end up watching in the fake credits. I really think it isn't the ending of the game where he ended it and he should have played through more than once. Its set up to show you that you meed to keep playing by not restarting completely. The slight change means theres reason for the change... Lots of games do this to try to make thing obvious... You can do this again but not the same one.. How did he not see that or are we just waiting on part 2 .... Doesn't give a feeling there will be a part 2 but instead he really thinks that ending is the only one, that's it?

I think that at the end, our puppet doesn't quite takeover our mind but rather shares the same consciousness as our character. That makes more sense as if it had swapped minds, we should have been able to look around from the puppet's view for at least a moment.
Edit:I also think that the sharing consciousness makes more sense as we know that the puppets don't know how to read. I haven't played the game but I'm pretty sure that the mind swaps don't let puppets have our memories. Which would make MatPat's theory pretty weird as the puppets also need someone that could actually read.
Also what happens when we use up all 5 puppets?
Her name is scout..... nobody found that weird? I agree with your theory
Yes, and why only 5 puppets, what happens after?
I literally said that 12 hours before you lol. I asked what happens when you use the 5 puppets twelve hours before. What a coincidence lol
@@justjudeanimations3968 At first I thought it was Scot or something. But based on this theory, that name is oddly relevant. A scout after all, is the first one on site, and the one gathering the initial information
I think what happens is that you're able to use all five puppets again

If you don’t put the milk in last you either get sugary sludge at the bottom or sugary sludge in a weak tea.
try playing all the way through with each character till there arent any puppets, maybe there will be something new
@Conner Payne my guess is that the game will restart again and the puppets will all be there again
Idk maybe you get to play with Mortimer
yeah that’s what i was wondering
YEAH
Very much true, and it makes no sense that if you brained swapped, why wouldn't they just take complete control?
@@noisehero4409 unless they can't do it without either A a special person or B idk what b is but there is other possibilities.

"We'll call it 'Talk to the Hand'!"
Player: *holds hand away a bit and judgingly gestures at Puppet*
My first thought was it's just a part of the ritual, like, in order for the ritual to finish, one must be invested emotionally into the puppet, and giving a clear goal "to escape" is a quick solution. And the ending is the part where you just completely lose your own mind as Scout's "death" makes you invested enough for the ritual to finish
Can you do it 5 times so we can see if theres a true ending?
Matpat! Matpat! The game, when it ends starts you over with one less puppet each time. So what if to get the secret ending you have to play and keep playing untill all the puppet choices are gone?

Additions to your Theory:

OK so at the end of the first Playthrough, one of the puppets are missing when you try to play again, what if you were to keep playing until all the puppets were gone, does it just restart? Or would something else happen?

Since he never mentioned it, id bet all 5 of them come back. If it was something important, there's a good chance he would have tested and mentioned it.
It would take some time testing by completing the game 5 times. However, as it's for his job and he also has people working for him that could do that, I see no reason for him not to try :)

Scout was my best friend. Shut up.
@@dakotablount251 that's your opinion and I respect that. I just tried to debunk some of the things Matpat said but still keep some of the elements of his theory. Have a nice day
My theory is mortimer is actually trying to do the exactly same thing that happened to your character but the dead body bag is the failed attemp but well that`s just a theory A FAN THEORY
what if it’s that they’ve been attempting this process for a while now and haven’t been able to succeed?? i mean it’d explain the excess amount of bodies cause why would there be SO many bodies if they aren’t failed attempts? in addition it’d explain the continuity factor as well. since it continues without scout there, were able to assume that it is a continuous storyline, so this new character is simply just the next attempt. our character DOES mind meld with scout like matpat said, but the makeshift theatre at the end is us complacent there after another failed attempt by the theatre but more specifically by scout herself, which is why they point out in the beginning thats she’s already failed before and this is her last chance. since it’s her last chance, her sentience was drained by mortimer after she failed again. which is something he didn’t wanna do, thus him being helpful throughout (alongside wanting to get the show started as well) idk though just something i thought of that still kinda follows matpats theory but also ties up some loose ends!!
wow this is prob what happened good theory
If they drain the life force from people, those bodies could also be the husks left after being drained. That energy would only last so long leaving a need to drain more, and they can't just lure people in, partially drain them, and let them go back out able to draw attention to their evil activities. I do think the puppet bodies in the final theatre's scene are the ones who failed too many times and the ones left behind with the puppet bodies after the mind swap.

How did he not see that or are we just waiting on part 2
