REVIEW: 2022 MG VS HEV with 0-100km/h acceleration test (MG's first hybrid model in Thailand)

MG has recently expanded its product lineup in Thailand with the introduction of the VS HEV hybrid crossover that helps the brand fill in the gap within the B-SUV segment.
The VS is basically a luxury version of the ZS (which is offered here in 1.5-liter petrol and EV variants).
The VS is powered by a hybrid system comprising of a 1.5-liter engine and an electric motor mated to an E-CVT delivering a combined output of 177hp and maximum torque of 200Nm to the front wheels.
Two variants are available -- D and X priced at Bt854,000 and Bt919,000 respectively.
There's a large number of exciting features in the VS, including dual widescreen cockpit with two 12.3-inch color display/touchscreen, electronic gearshift, touch panel, double-layer console, panoramic sunroof as well as two types of USB ports.
MG Thailand recently staged a test drive event for the VS HEV at the Pahumthani Speedway where the media were able to try out 0-100kmh acceleration, braking as well as handling of the new model.

Thanks for this great review. I'm in Thailand and test drove the VS X today I was very impressed by the 200Nm torque. Plus, the suspension, handling(especially the smooth turning) was outstanding. The VS is a lot lighter than the HS PHEV, 1450kg vs. 1775kg.
The quality of the seats are pretty high, which is something very high on my list. 17 inch wheels are perfect. Saleswoman offered quite a discount along with 1 year insurance and free tint. I'd be crazy not to buy what a great vehicle for the price!

How long can u drive in the city in EV mode only ? But still can not telescope Steering Wheel ? How heavy is VS ? i Smart is in english as well ? Have wireless Android Auto ? Top speed is not important the law says 120 max. All cars in Thailand should be limited to 140km/h. Khop khun mak krab

It has a small 2.1kWh battery. I test drove it hard today, it had A LOT of acceleration and the battery drained pretty quick. Once I slowed down it started charging again right away. It's an amazing car, I think it will meet most peoples needs but I doubt you can drive fast all the time, just occasional spurts, which is great to have.
