This has to be the darkest chapter I’ve ever read. This origin is like something out of a horror manga. Born from a diseased homeless prostitute; almost eaten at birth by rats only to be washed down a river with his malnourished twin; chewing on the bosom of his mother’s corpse; ripping groups of people apart in alleys with giant spikes. He’s in every definition of the word, a monster. Like Michael Myers evil incarnate.

the creator of My Hero needs to explain how he became born evil from the start did his dna get altered by his dad or did he just gain some evil cells and dna from his dad that caused him to be born evil because being born evil is not believable unless he was created in the nether world or had his DNA altered when he was unborn. Nobody is born evil in real life. I can understand cartoons and anime don't have to be 100% realistic but making someone born evil and even be evil back when he or she is in the womb is stretching it and goin too far. I am just gonna assume his dad was evil and he gained his dad's personality through dna that could probably be how he became evil from birth

For as many kids born with brown or black hair, the few blondes and tge rarest of them all red hair, an even smaller percentage is born albino . Same concept. It comes from her quirk being blood related or Bakugos, impulsive nature comes from explosion related quirk. Im pretty sure horikoshi is showing us the same thing with all for one since his quirk is about taking and giving quirks without consent unlike his brothers which requieres consent. Also to your point about no one is born evil in real life, that may be incorrect seeing that serial killers show signs of antisocial behavior in early childhood. So there definitely could be a real world connection to all for one.
for the first time the only thing I have to say is: scary... heavy and scary and I think the origin of AFO still has a connection with that part said in the Overhaul arc about Quirks coming from rats, because if we notice AFO's mother and Yoichi lived on the street where contact with rats and diseases is very common and how something unknown can spread quickly without being noticed It's possible that this is true, and I think we'll see AFO facing all OFA users until it reaches Prime All Might, at least that's what I hope
I can imagine him actually taking Shigarakis Body and the final battle to be a Mental one with him fighting all Vestiges At once, while it cuts way to the different real battles. Ending with his mind being Trapped for at least a few decades inside a Body constantly fighting him. This is no Character that would ever actually die, just like a Joker or a Emperor Palpatine, those guys always come back somehow.

That has to be the most sensible statement I've ever heard. The trauma of losing his brother to someone else was too much to beat that he found a replacement and gave him his brothers name. And the most heartbreaking part is that Shiggy was simply a place holder for "the one that got away" shows how truly demented and obsessed All for One is.

At first I thought we were going to get a sympathetic backstory for him... and a part of me felt it might be better to NOT give AFO any backstory at all, since it's not really needed to see how such a Quirk could make someone go mad with power; ESPECIALLY when Quirks were new and society didn't know how to deal with it. BUT while they do set up that AFO had a terrible welcoming into the world that might've removed any sense of empathy from him... yeah no he was pretty much always an unfeeling monster. I actually think Horikoshi is suggesting since All for one grew up on the streets, with nothing but a comic book to help him know things about life and newspapers as well, he grew up to become more evil and twisted , his quirk also made him want to have everything and get attention as well, he wants people to notice him since he has a quirk that lets him have any quirk essentially.
Poor Yoichi he cared about his brother and he wanted to try to see if there some good in him but sadly AFO is just a monster there no way he can ever turn good especially since he didn’t even seen Yoichi as a brother but a possession. Because the media wanted to control the public and they didn't want a person with mutation quirk because that would make the public think that most quirk users are freaks ... which they do anyways.
They had to make it public when he was born, they couldn't hide it anymore. It mentioned that information about quirks were withheld from the public at first.
I think AFO’s origins will last until 409 and then shift back to present where Bakugo finally unleash his quirk awakening to defeat AFO and after that his rewind quirk has made his death by disappearing

But do you know what I really realize from the flashback; is that all for one in a way is like tenko because during his past time. he was being ignored even by those government guys who are just about to stay away from him, because they think he might be affected and I got him mad inside thinking are they rejecting me then he kills them, then there was an emotional time where he spends time with his brother reading comics, and kind of talks about heroes, and even villains just like Tenko and his friends, but then when there grown up even all for one was blind from powered and anger to see what was going on in front of him and that was the part where his brother was being taken away by someone he’s wondering why the next moment he react he didn’t even know what he did was an attack instead of a grab pulling back in, no wonder Kudo told them that he killed him and he just didn’t know that because he was a Blind With power. No wonder all for one I took tenko in with his arms because he could relate to the struggles he dealt with when he was his age; but I’m pretty sure he never told him

I think what people are trying to say about this is that the glong baby was the first recorded signing sighting of a quirk show. Exso, it's technically mean that other people did have quotes. But they weren't seen or they died out too early.
I think Bakugou realizes this: his goal is to simply distract AFO and get himaway from Shig and Deku. Side note, I was pretty sure they'd have gotten to all the other students moments int he arc BEFORE getting this deep in the main villiain/hero fight: they still have Sato/Ojirou and Sero to go. UNLESS maybethey're gonna tie into the heros bigger plans that'll come in to help at the last minute...

Perhaps while that's happening AFO/Shiggy finally sicks his reserved Nomus on everyone, and Perhaps Kurogiri and Reovery girl work to geother to bring everyone to the final battle and keep Deku/Shig safe in the meantime. OR one thought I had was... what if OFA was given to multiple people at once.. watering it down individually and causing it to fade away from being stretched thin, BUT tying together the argument that OFA is meant to be for everyone, AFO is about everything being for ONE person. Can we all agree that AFO was born as a monster? He killed his mother by stealing the nutrition from her and not giving any to his twin. At 3 or 4 years old, He slaughtered many people with his spike quirk. Already claiming that his brother is a possession, his first prisoner. Then the idea of sending fear to many brings him joy as he loves being a villain. Finally killing his only family for "leaving him" Already corrupted when being in the womb. Not by his mother. But to be born that way. This is one of the most scariest beings in MHA

The only option for Bakugo to win is to steal time from AFO so that the rewind let him vanish. I dont see that Bakugo is that powerful to beat AFO in a 1 vs 1 fight. Not even close imo. Maybe the quirk he stole from the shining baby will turn the tables. I didnt know if we saw him use it. But there is sure a reason that we see it NOW that AFO has it.

@@tamicatt That's something I forgot to add, he specifically grew up in the streets with no adults who are kind and caring enough to approach him and Yoichi with attentions to actually teach them about life in a good way. AFO literally says he was inspired by reading comics to become a villain, while it's true that he was born wanting to take or have everything, and thought he was a superior being as well, I do think he could've been possibly slightly good if he was adopted by a good family and raised well. But it would have to be a very rich family, he definitely would want to have lots of things and if they don't give him everything he wants then he would've still became what he is now .

Some people are just born that way. Humans are self domesticated. Deku said he isnt actuall evil ... he is someone that wanted to get saved. So for me Tomura isnt the true villain after all. It must be AFO.

This reenforces an idea that I had years ago, that the AFO and OFA quirks are the same. Yoichi simply never developed the hole-in-hand applicator because his twins greed didn’t allow them to physically develop equally, AFO will be surprised when the two are reunited in Shigaraki and the hero quirks show little Tenko how to become the hero he originally wanted to be. Then the guiding light quirk can re-inspire the world.
People miss the fact that their literal conception was traumatic, despite not being wholley concious there were popular studies (now illegal) on infants to show if fear could be ingrained. Little Albert was such a study, there were two things they found infants naturally feared. Loud sounds and darkness. Then they paired the gonging noise with a white whool, and astonishingly found the fear had "transferred" to any material that carried the look and sensation of white whool, most famously a white rabbit. Shocasing, even living creatures weren't exempt. Yoichi's and AFO's condition were atrocious to be honest. The rushing of the waves, the coldness of the stream, the squeaking of the rats intending to eat them...ironically another of the rodent family. So what happened? Where did nature and nurture come to play for the two to be so different? Honestly, It comes down to AFO being more cognizant of his circumstances, Youichi's weakened state likely saved from being aware of what was going by constantly passing out on the edge of death. But his brother.... likely endured all of it. The argument could be said that this nature began in the womb, but to that I say, look at the state of the carrier? The mother. She barely seemed fit to carry children, and there is what appears to be alcohol that she's holding in a daze. One look at her condition and her clothing is enough to deduce that, she barely had any nutrients to offer. The trauma then began sense the boys were concieved with AFO making an effort to survive. Regardless if he was hogging it or not, it was clear, there wasn't enough for all three of them.
Holy shit that spike quirk is Rivet! Those corkscrew looking spike growths we've seen him use in Ultimate Quirk Combination and when he stabbed the gauntlet on All Might's arm were the same spikes he used in this chapter!
@wake6000 oh you're right. The coloration for Rivet and Spearlike Bones look so similar so I thought they were that same thing. Also Rivet Stab is a different quirk from Rivet. Rivet allows the user to generate rivet-like growths from their arm while Rivet Stab is the black and red tendrils.

Also this realization made me realize that AFO's Ultimate Quirk Combination is made up of several arms and hands (which is his Multiplier quirk) that somewhat overlay his original arm as it is under the effect of the Hypertrophy quirk. In a way it's kinda like a unintentional foreshadowing to Shigi's Finger Tsunami
Sticks to the whole thing that some people are just born evil. And AFO is one of them. But this so interesting. All for One and One for All were one of the first Quirks ever brought into existence and that really shows how old AFO is. And i take it the second user was in a way one for alls foster father. He got him out of there before things got worse.
Man, I can imagine if they bring this flashback in the show instead of cutting to a scene of it we actually see Deku and shigaraki still struggling against each other but suddenly there minds actually get sent back to the vestige world and they see each other but they can’t move with their arms and that is when all the anger of all for one create another flashbacks seen but this time it takes them back to his beginning of his memory. And we can imagine how Deku and shigaraki are gonna to react to it
I was always under the impression they were born well after the glowing baby, in the middle of the dark age due to the quirks. I also thought AfO was the older brother, not the bigger twin. I don't know how to feel about this.

One thing that i wished was focused more in mha was the world outside japan , how far does AFO's influence go beyond japan , and when did quirks really start appearing ? Where was ground zero, was it india ? And did the quirk phenomenon spread like a disease ?
China. First baby ever recorded born with a quirk. Glow baby. I dont particularly care about the rest of the world. The story would be convoluted if you spread it too much. AFO had influence in other regions but no real political or physical power. He was concentrated on destroying Japan before moving on to the rest of the planet.
Start of bnha : sunshine and rainbow Now : Dark, and absolute despair Welp, its really nice know how yoiichi died and the 2 brothers backstory, now we can have the past holder of ofa backstory on how the torches are passed on and how they left the bnha world. Really good stuffs from horikoshi
I've had this theory of AFO being just an absolute menace and evil incarnate for a while. Mostly because.... yes the past couple of years with the Bakugo death scares has been rough, I've also had this stupid nagging feeling that Shigaraki was just being played. I had a proper good cry about it after seeing this chapter because ONCE AGAIN, the person closest to Shigaraki is going to hurt him. Well, at least try to. I hesitate to call AFO human with some of this cursed imagery, this ain't far off Junji Ito stuff. It IS kinda refreshing though because you don't often see true evil like this any more.... it's literally evil for the sake of evil, not a villain as a product of circumstance and society. I thought I hated the hell out of Endeavour. That's gotten downgraded to a mild dislike in light of this. I'm going to smile a whole bunch while AFO's plans go up in smoke.
In the universes where Marvel and MHA coexisted naturally, I'm somewhat glad that the X-Men didn't find All For One when he was a baby. But this does begged a new question: What stopped All For One and Yoichi from going to Genosha and taking refuge there? P.S: At this point, I am willing to believe that All For One's father is actually Mammon, the Demon Prince of Greed.

he was being ignored even by those government guys who are just about to stay away from him, because they think he might be affected and I got him mad inside thinking are they rejecting me then he kills them, then there was an emotional time where he spends time with his brother reading comics, and kind of talks about heroes, and even villains just like Tenko and his friends, but then when there grown up even all for one was blind from powered and anger to see what was going on in front of him and that was the part where his brother was being taken away by someone he’s wondering why the next moment he react he didn’t even know what he did was an attack instead of a grab pulling back in, no wonder Kudo told them that he killed him and he just didn’t know that because he was a Blind With power.
No wonder all for one I took tenko in with his arms because he could relate to the struggles he dealt with when he was his age; but I’m pretty sure he never told him

Perhaps while that's happening AFO/Shiggy finally sicks his reserved Nomus on everyone, and Perhaps Kurogiri and Reovery girl work to geother to bring everyone to the final battle and keep Deku/Shig safe in the meantime.

AFO literally says he was inspired by reading comics to become a villain, while it's true that he was born wanting to take or have everything, and thought he was a superior being as well, I do think he could've been possibly slightly good if he was adopted by a good family and raised well. But it would have to be a very rich family, he definitely would want to have lots of things and if they don't give him everything he wants then he would've still became what he is now .

This reenforces an idea that I had years ago, that the AFO and OFA quirks are the same. Yoichi simply never developed the hole-in-hand applicator because his twins greed didn’t allow them to physically develop equally, AFO will be surprised when the two are reunited in Shigaraki and the hero quirks show little Tenko how to become the hero he originally wanted to be. Then the guiding light quirk can re-inspire the world.

People miss the fact that their literal conception was traumatic, despite not being wholley concious there were popular studies (now illegal) on infants to show if fear could be ingrained. Little Albert was such a study, there were two things they found infants naturally feared. Loud sounds and darkness. Then they paired the gonging noise with a white whool, and astonishingly found the fear had "transferred" to any material that carried the look and sensation of white whool, most famously a white rabbit. Shocasing, even living creatures weren't exempt.
Yoichi's and AFO's condition were atrocious to be honest. The rushing of the waves, the coldness of the stream, the squeaking of the rats intending to eat them...ironically another of the rodent family.
So what happened? Where did nature and nurture come to play for the two to be so different? Honestly, It comes down to AFO being more cognizant of his circumstances, Youichi's weakened state likely saved from being aware of what was going by constantly passing out on the edge of death. But his brother.... likely endured all of it.
The argument could be said that this nature began in the womb, but to that I say, look at the state of the carrier? The mother. She barely seemed fit to carry children, and there is what appears to be alcohol that she's holding in a daze. One look at her condition and her clothing is enough to deduce that, she barely had any nutrients to offer.
The trauma then began sense the boys were concieved with AFO making an effort to survive. Regardless if he was hogging it or not, it was clear, there wasn't enough for all three of them.

I’m pretty sure it’s Spearlike Bones, not Rivet Stab. Rivet Stab is the red/black wire like quirk shiggy uses to stab Bakugo in the first war.

@wake6000 oh you're right. The coloration for Rivet and Spearlike Bones look so similar so I thought they were that same thing. Also Rivet Stab is a different quirk from Rivet. Rivet allows the user to generate rivet-like growths from their arm while Rivet Stab is the black and red tendrils.

I've had this theory of AFO being just an absolute menace and evil incarnate for a while.
Mostly because.... yes the past couple of years with the Bakugo death scares has been rough, I've also had this stupid nagging feeling that Shigaraki was just being played.
I had a proper good cry about it after seeing this chapter because ONCE AGAIN, the person closest to Shigaraki is going to hurt him. Well, at least try to. I hesitate to call AFO human with some of this cursed imagery, this ain't far off Junji Ito stuff. It IS kinda refreshing though because you don't often see true evil like this any more.... it's literally evil for the sake of evil, not a villain as a product of circumstance and society.
I thought I hated the hell out of Endeavour. That's gotten downgraded to a mild dislike in light of this. I'm going to smile a whole bunch while AFO's plans go up in smoke.
