      Respect because they still work with technologies that belonged to bygone eras? All this heavy work can be done with a couple of not so high tech machine, better and faster. There is no glory in laboring like an animal in the 21st century.

    What a job! As long as there’s a need for graphite crucibles, they will always have a job. It’s got to be back breaking. It’s heavy, and slippery. These guys have to be pure muscle.

    Interesting video! Impressive team-work (less talk - more work).
    It would become a very interesting video if you could add some information about the proces.
    Are the large crucibles shaped more than one time? If so, why?
    Is the inner-shaper made from a tree log or just the top part where the hammers strike?
    How much do these large crucibles weigh? Wet, dry and after firing.

      actually these are cheaper. Making them with hydraulic press costs more for smaller manufacturers in India. Human labour is cheaper than the cost of setting up machinery.

    Great, Very Hard and Skilled Workers, no doubt this is one of Dirty Jobs they are performing Skilfully, there is only One Machine looked in the Video, the Extruder, no Equipment for Lifting/ Handling and Conveying; all the system is Manual. The Workers may please be facilitated with such Equipment and PPEs. Thanks a lot for this informative Video.

      It's mixed with clay. They're called clay graphite crucibles.

      These are inert nonmetallic crucibles. Used for melting multiple metals to make allows, as there will be no reaction with the crucible -it's made of graphite.

    I always though these crucibles are to be gas fired in reducing condition. the furnace is really primitive.

      Gas fired crucibles are mostly used in bigger industries. These cheaply made crucibles are meant for local metal workers who output is a few tons a year.

      No, but crucible liners like this were made in Battersea, London for over 100 years jntil the 1970s
      The factory was bigger and they dropped the clay into the mould from 5 storeys up
