Initially reading the rules can make this game seem intimidating, but the video actually explains things much easier in my opinion. The game is actually quite simple and fun, but like most board games you need to take it slow at first. I guarantee that if you can understand the rules of games such as monopoly then you should have no problem playing this. There are way more complex table games that people have mastered than this.
Monopoly has a lot more complicated rules that people think. Most people don't actually read the rule book, and end up playing it without some of the more complicated options.
I just received this game for Christmas. I read the instructions 10 times and watched one other video and still was so confused but after watching this video I understand now and am very excited to start playing!
What's up with people in the comments talking about how complicated the game is? It's on par with popular games today, and actually lands on the side of "simple" games that are low strategy. It's easier than Monopoly (when played with all the rules), that's for sure. What this game could really use is to have the 6 player actions written down on each pallet. That would make things much easier. Also, the 4 color features add an extra complexity to the game and rules that isn't really necessary.
This game is super fun once you get the hang of it! The rules aren’t as complicated as they seem. Initially I was like yikes what💀 but it’s really cool!! Once you learn you’re all set for some chill fun 👌🏽👌🏽
I got this game for Christmas because well, obviously I’m a Bob fan... anyways, this game is difficult to fully understand but it gets more fun the more you play it. Great game!!
This was more fun to put away than it was to figure out. Complicated is the nicest word for this game. Let's hope whoever buys this from the goodwill it's on its way to can figure out how to play it.
Is everyone serious? I read through the rules twice and we got it. There are dozens upon dozens of popular games out that are way more complicated than this. The rulebook could easily be condensed into 2 pages. Don’t be intimidated, newcomers.
Maybe a couple of my brain surgeon friends, rocket scientists, lawyers and authors can spend a few weeks and figure this game out. I'm not so sure they could though.
Today was the first time I actually saw this game in Target. I bought it impulsively thinking I'd actually be painting with real paints, palettes, brushes and canvas, rather than cards that represent them. Will be returned asap; this game should carry some sort of a disclaimer.
What's the rule about board games? If you can't play them half drunk, they tend to fade into obscurity.... I've NEVER heard of any board game so insanely complicated. Rule of thumb: no game shoukd EVER be more complicated than actually PAINTING a Bob Ross yourself. I just did one today, btw.
TightSqueeze Jam at FB Caverna, Agricola, Twilight Imperium, maybe even Pandemic or Dominion... I think it's fair to say that complicated and semi-complicated games hold up just fine.
This game is pretty straight forward. You roll the die, do what the die says. Then you take any 3 actions, which should probably be written on a small card included with the game or on the player's pallets, but they're still intuitive actions: take a card, play a card, paint a feature being the main three; then buy a technique, wash your pallet, clear the supply being 3 other actions. You try to paint all the features on the painting as quickly as possible. This was a long video because he wanted to be super chill about explaining things, and answered all the questions that might have been asked by anyone. The game itself is still easier than the popular games Small World or Catan with Cities and Knights expansion.
this is the chillest most complicated game ever

I've learned around 60 board games. A little more complex than monopoly.

So much fun to play, and honestly so easy and simple once you play a few turns.
Even this video put me to sleep. Must be a perfect representative of a Bob Ross game.
The greatest commentary Ive ever heard. I can NOT wait to play this game lolol
that's exactly what I need to see today, thanks Bob, and thanks to who do this video, was very clear and chill :)

Nice clearly explained video. I did watch a video before this one and it was a little confusing. Great job.
I have this game and the instructions that came with it were not very clear so this video really helped. Thanks. 🎨

I have a reading disorder it's hard!
You sound sort of like Bob Ross lol
Can you you paint the features in any order? I think you can, but my sisters are adamantly against it.
Ashley Kleist any order is fine.
That was such a good video but I'm not even high in the tiniest bit and I still don't get it.
I wish you could leave gifs in comments because right now I would love to post spacecats. No idea wtf is going on. #SoChill
I feel so dumb, I'm still super confused and don't know how to play this game.
I tried reading the instructions and I’ve never been more confused and I now feel brain dead
I could actually learn how to paint before I learn to play this confusing ass game
#asmr
What if u run out of art supply cards in your hand and palate? Do u pick 3 again?
Presumably that's your choice... gotta keep drawing one at a time... very similar to ticket to ride.
This game is complicated just be easy on me Bob why did you make the game hard!wth it's 9:12 pm I'm tired!I wanted to play an easy game!
This is incredible hard
I’d buy this, but it seems insanely complicated.
The amount and complexity of rules is very unchill.
