    #26 : separate your power production grid as much as you can from your power distribution grid, best is to have only one connection between them, especially if your factory is meant to grow.
    In power production, connect generators and every machines strictly needed for generator powering. For example, coal miners and water pumps for a coal production plant.
    In power distribution, connect everything else together.
    You can eventually have a personal transportation system (train/hypertube/whatever) with a dedicated power grid if you can afford it.
    The idea behind this is that if your power grid shuts down because it is under required power, you may need extra power to start additional power plants, and in this case being able to disconnect your production from power production grid easily is a big help, allowing you to use existing power to initiate other power plants.
    An autonomous transportation system is also a plus, especially with big factories, as it will allow you to move around even if system is shut down to fix problem faster.

      yeap, i did separeted grid to my coal miners in factorio... satisfactory i not advance enought to do this kind of stuff, but i want to make a center control room too like a room with tons of lines that if i cut a wire entire stuff stop working, my main problem with this idea is how long i will spend to implement those? i totally need more time to play it, but i had no extra time to, soo i just get all a giant mess under boxes all over in a single grid and if it shut downs i know my last build go blowed the grid and just cut out that portion then upgrade energy then back all running again... i miss enerhy upgrade a while and yesterday close to midnight i blow all up connecting my new motor plant on... i shut of my first steel production and will fix energy today, or try at least hehe

      Good tip. What I've done is put a Power Switch for each building. Then if I'm tight on power I can shut off a who building that I don't need right now. I'd also recommend building some Power Storage. Once they are charged you can actually go over your max generation for some time without it blowing a fuse, giving you lots of time to sort things out.

    #25 (a bit off topic): when building a long railway, first build a factory producing steel beams, steel tubes and concrete (and whatever more you need for building your railway, these 3 are the minimum). Then build a railway station, with at least 1 freight platform for each resource you want to carry on, but more can be better, like 5 for steel beams/tubes and 10 for concrete. Then feet platforms with resources from the factory. Now build your railway driving the train along it, so you can use train as an extended inventory and refill it extremely fast at factory when needed.
    For exploring the map, you eventually want to carry (by train) some iron plate and rode to build walkways in case you need to overcome some obstacles, or some packaged fuel for your jetpack if you already have it unlocked. :)

    Hey I started playing Satisfactory recrently and found this vid while searching for better ways to build. I just wanted to make a mention of something I discovered today. if you are working on pipes for coal generators, oil pumps, or other pipe related stuff and are on a platform, you can place the pipe about 4 spaces forward and then click, use the scroll wheel to make the pipe face straight downwards, and then from there you can literally run the pipes straight through the foundations. That frees up alot of space around the work area and declutters where conveyors can go.

    There it is! The weirdness that is current fluid logic in SF! I have a feeling the thing with a solo high-altitude water extractor to raise headlift thresholds will be patched out somehow in the updates to come, but then again maybe not, I imagine unpicking that particular behaviour from the rest of the system may prove awkward. If it does indeed stay as it is now then there are some immensely twisted things one could do, like placing a singular water extractor on the highest patch of water you can find and running a massive manifold into the rear end of every nearby (lower altitude) water pipe set. As far as I've been able to experiment on the matter, you can currently have that single extractor running at 1% and still get the effect on as many pipelines as you can (feasibly) attach to the drop feed manifold.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well it works as it would in real life I believe, hence the use of water towers. in fact even if you pumped water to a single high point on the map, using that would be much more efficient than pumping 20 pipelines up to the same height without headlift. So it might be something I play with, with oil :)

    My biggest issue is never leaving enough room lol. Build a perfectly balanced system only to need to upgrade everything once the last miner and belts are unlocked, I never have enough room to expand unless I rip everything out and spend 11 hours rebuilding, ( just tripled my iron ingots and steel last night). Side note, Nuclear power is so satisfying once it's all set up and running, currently making 10 fuel rod a minute, potential of 64/m when finished.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweet! I'm not looking forward to returning to Uranium, gave me a headache last time, and it was simpler then :D
      You're right, leaving enough space is one of the biggest problems, however if you spread it across one layer, you could then double it or triple it in height. Sometimes it is easier said than done though.

    • @Hawkbomber
      @Hawkbomber 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotalXclipse It's actually not that bad, The only hard part about Nuclear plants are the pipes needed, since it's a 300 line to each one. I already set up a massive array of 68 full pipes under my nuclear base in the swamp (hate that area, to many spiders) lol A good time saver is shard all of the water extractors, makes it so much easier and gets more water out of the area. And dont over clock nuclear, not a good time. Maybe in the future they'll increase the throughput of pipes or allow more than one pipe per plant.

    My favorite way to climb buildings is not the staircase, I use the stackable conveyer poles. They clip right through the walls so on the outside it looks just like a ladder. I tend to build a large vertical structure that takes in everything needed at the bottom and then on the other end outputs the part I want directly into a storage container. Then I wall up and close up the entire building and I never have to enter it again. That way the inside can be absolutely chock full of spaghetti but the outside looks nice and clean. :-)

  • @Anson_AKB
    @Anson_AKB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hint for beginners (like me) : walkways are MUCH better than guard rails (fences) and stairs. while you are low on coupons, buy walkways instead of fences/stairs. the biggest problem with the fences for me was that they are only horizontal and can't be usefully attached to any ramps. and also the stairs have a problem: they cover two thirds of the width of a platform and thus leave a hole in the ground, and also have some ugly extensions which stick out into otherwise passable space, eg when you build a series of stairs along a longer wall.
    on the other hand, the guardrails of walkways can be pretty dangerous too: when walking at a slight angle, you can safely "glide" along them. but when you hit the gaps between two walkway platforms at exactly a right angle, you will walk through and easily fall to your death :-(

      the principle of reallife water towers is that the entire network below the highest point will be fillled and need no separate pumps, BUT to insert more water below that top point, you need more pressure/force/power depending on how far below that highest point you insert water. remember that a water tower in reallife is used to have constant high(!) pressure in the entire system without the need for additional pumps, and thus all pumps that insert water at lower altitudes would have to counteract that high pressure, or weak pumps at low insertion points would either break or be forced running backwards by that high pressure (stick a water pipe in your mouth and try to blow air into it, lol :-).
      for "push pumps" there also should be no limit on how high they can pump water (besides the strength of the pipes so that they don't burst from the pressure). they simply have to be stronger, maybe MK1, MK2, MK3 ingame :-). but for "pull pumps" at the upper end of pipes, there is a physical limit how high they can pull water, which is given by gravity and the weight of water: 9.81 meter is the maximum lift for a single "pull pump" until they would start creating a vacuum between that height and the pump. a stronger pump only might create a better vacuum, but wouldn't be able to get water higher by a single millimeter. thus for larger heights you need a series of "pull pumps" at least every 9 meters. of course, this value applies to earth and may be different on massageAB. with the engineer being able to easily jump up 2 meters instead of maybe 1 meters on earth (or 4 instead of 2 when wearing the boots), that limit might well be 20 meters on this planet instead of 9.81 meters on earth. but this only applies to "pull pumps" and NOT to "push pumps" !
      i have no idea why anybody would use "pull pumps" to transport huge amounts of liquids over great height differences ...
      edit: being no native speaker, i don't know how you call those pumps, maybe "pull pumps" are sucktion pumps and "push pumps" are pressure pumps ?

    • @yavvivvay
      @yavvivvay 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, i missed that - the water collectors would have to be as strong as the overall pressure in the system, which they are obviously not.

    amazing video,
    I started the game 1 day after the stame release and already have 41h in the game xD
    it's my first factory game and maybe you can see it as I'm building quite special xD
    I notice the different from pro gamers and me how they use the foundation as I try to keep it in a nice flow with the world. like using mostly the 2m high ones in the gorund and build on it and not rising it up or only if their is a hill or so. Of course I get some issues like no underground for my base or like small hills or s can get a issue, but I get quite far.
    I started to build even a small factory building with walls and so who have a ground floor with a ramp up to like the half of the high of the ground room. have maybe some space issues, but only small ones, but I quite handle it good.
    maybe the biggest problem now is how to make the 3 or 4 part things as I need to scale stuff up, but except for going up I barely have a good spot for it. I mean a big focus is, to have a nice order of the stuff like building all in the same directions or using conveyor lifts to raise it up and use the stackable to move they around there then or like having pipes on the ground and conveyors over the pipes (looks so good by my coal setup)
    Maybe a other issue is like, how I manage my train and so like make it a straight line or a circle, then should I always use foundation or only on the water

      Really good question. and yes I do. (should have included it.) place rather than moving from a straight piece of track to a curve then adding another straight piece of track, you should place a straight piece of track before the curve and also one after. Then place the curve connecting to the two straight pieces of track.

    My main issue seems to be that there just isn't big enough spaces on the map. I feel like wherever I build I have to put the base foundations about 5 stories high, just so I don't run into random rocks or cliffs while building. How do you manage to have these massive areas all flat and neat?

    • @pyrolucky5741
      @pyrolucky5741 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theres lots of flat space in the rocky dessert (top left on the map and near the oil islands) from what ive seen, your only gonna have to elevatate foundations a few times. Theres also a cave near a river and a nitrogen node near the very top left of it. Though theres no copper.
