    Dwarf has the ability to apply darks (remove the red, green, blue, streaks) to the live stack. It is the astro dark feature. Users don't have to post process the image in another application like Siril. It looks like your image of M42 was a little out of focus. +1 on putting the ND filter over each lens.. the wide angle and telephoto lens.

      Thank you for the feedback! It definitely requires a bit of a learning curve for newcomers to Astrophotography (myself included), buts it's great at what it can accomplish when done to perfection 👌🏼

    Compared to the seestar s50 it’s a bit… outdated. But back when it was new it was a very cool telescope! ( it still is a great telescope, obviously, it’s just outdated, that’s all. Doesn’t make it bad, especially on the used market it’s still a nice choice) PS: great images! If you use photoshop, why didn’t you use a Star reduction procedure? I would recommend to search for a workflow you like and use it, it will improve your already good results quite a bit i guess 😉👍

    Overall we like our Dwarf 2. Nice design.
    The novice, like us, may be disappointed with the Dwarf 2s focal length. While it's pretty good at taking pics of galaxies it's not great at taking pictures of the planets.
    Planets remain very small, even the moon only fills 1/3 of the screen. Similar results for the sun.
    Shooting wildlife during the daytime is acceptable, but there are some annoying issues.
    The Dwarf 2 has a fixed focal length. That means the magnification of objects can not be adjusted for reframing. The subject has to be at the right distance to fill the frame the way you want.
    In a side-by-side comparison to a Sony Handycam, the Dwarf 2 magnified an object approximately the same amount as Sony Handycam zoomed all the way in.
    Our unit's video recording is not smooth. For some reason. the recording seems to miss a few frames here and there. It has the latest firmware and several different formatted SD card were tried.
    The autofocus works pretty well but when you do have to focus manually it would be nice to have "peaking".
    It would also be nice to be able to record the "wider" shot sometimes for an establishing shot.
    Seems like it shoots in 2k?
    Some kind of teleconverter to increase the telescope's focal length would be nice.
    All that said We still like it. It's a cool design and we don't regret the purchase.

    Well, thank you for this wonderful product. There is a very, very important question for me before purchasing: Can this telescope be an alternative to the Nikon P1000 camera in order to obtain a 125x zoom for photographing distant places?
    How much is the optical zoom and digital zoom of this telescope.

    Thanks for the run-through of the features of the D2. I. Just unboxed mine yesterday. I am looking forward to using the D2 both for Astro and daytime photography (solar and nature). I bought it for its compact size, particularly for travel.

    It does come with a USB cable these days. And the D2 Deluxe package is a little different: TWO ND filters for solar imaging only, and there is a spare battery. Sadly, no 400x microscope that came with early review units.

    Fine review! Thank you very much! The Dwarf II is a brilliant, ground-breaking product at an affordable price. I am thrilled with mine, which I have been enjoying for a few weeks, now. Like Tiago Ferreira of Dobsonian Power channel, I am sticking with using the Dwarf II as is in the alt-az mount. Perhaps the Dwarf II may happen to work when used in a polar-aligned set up, but I just cannot risk a self-inflicted harm to the Dwarf II, such as excessive wear or any slight or catastrophic breakage from using it with polar alignment versus alt-az, as-intended. For stability, I am using it on a very heavy-duty Artcise carbon fiber tripod. The photos of Messier objects that I have taken so far are very impressive from such a portable, affordable, and convenient rig. My family members are very impressed and surprised, as am I. I have not yet done any post processing, such as with Siril, etc., but that will increase the joy of my newfound experiences in skywatching.

    The D2 is an entry level astrophotography camera, but is not beginner friendly. The instructions are a hodgepodge of articles, the failure rate amongst users is high, and they have used us “beginners” as beta testers. Dwarflab has been responsive, but often tells me all sorts of things I should do that were not in the “instructions” when I looked. They recently sent me the Deluxe package of accessories with only on ND filter, and when asked, said to absolutely not look at the sun with one ND. Filter. They provide service to make money, but a firm interested in customer success and astronomy itself would not just send one ND. They said is was my fault, the beginner should have known better.

    Thanks for the great review. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, so this helps a lot to pass the time :) Ordered mine on januari 10th and got the message that the "info" was received on March 10th. It's probably on a ship somewhere in one of the oceans. Almost can't wait. I saw indeed you only used one of the solar filters, for the tele lens. Next time also cover the wide lens to avoid damage to your optics.

    • @TrendingReviews
      @TrendingReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment! Yeah its definitely stuck on the ships somewhere, but hopefully you have a tracking number?
      And thank you for the heads up, that was an oversight from my side regarding covering both lenses with the filter. Will do that going forward!

    When you did the image of the sun , did you have both lenses covered with the solar filters ? The closeup image you took of the dwarf showed only one installed.
    So just in case , you are supposed to cover both lenses with the solar filters otherwise you can damage the dwarf optics

    • @kolchak357

    • @AABB-px8lc
      @AABB-px8lc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Gator Swamp Still not enough, I am personally maybe one who somehwat ok with tiny aperture and theoretical image quality based on aperture, only hope is stacking. And result after stacking in this video not good enough. It is way better then my own silly tries with Sigma 135F1.8 2.4sec X 2000 images because insane local city light (I know I am moron, one dont even try in such pollution condition). But even stars quality was not good in this example of stacked final image tbh, even close to center area.

    • @dennisrogers6786
      @dennisrogers6786 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What do you expect?, come on, its only a 24mn diameter lend, which limits the resolution. For its size, does very well. Its far more powerful if you EQ mount it, then can stack the raw images in deepsky stacker, etc. The disappointment by some, they have seen all those wonderful astro photos from big scopes and were expecting this to do the same. You got to drop your expectations and realize it's a tiny scope with a tiny aperture. Work within its limits and is great. Remember its defaulted to EAA mode, but EQ mount it and do some manual stacking expect with skill, 2x more detail and colour than standard EAA setting.

    • @AABB-px8lc
      @AABB-px8lc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dennisrogers6786 basically 19:59 look at star shapes all aroound, a bit low q side even considering low price. 22:10 is much better and look almost good, but need one step better to be attractive product.

    • @ResDog70
      @ResDog70 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AABB-px8lc I wouldn't go by what he's showing here, tbh. He took pics of the sun without covering both lenses with the solar filters, after all. I've seen some amazing images from this system, due to proper posting. If it's not good enough for you, save up for the big rigs.

    Never point it at the Sun with Just one filter and leave the other uncovered. You run the risk of cooking the uncovered sensor. The kickstarter version came with the 2 ND filters, one for both telephoto and wide angle. Now unfortunately the deluxe package only comes with 1 ND sun filter. Shame on them, as you risk the problem of destroying the sensor on the uncovered lens
