I would love to see this bracket done again without the 90's rappers. Just 2000's and on. The reason is because, like you all said in the video, "it doesn't feel right placing Biggie over Kendrick." So, I would suggest not including Biggie, 2 Pac, etc.

When NFR does brackets and rankings like this I think it would be interesting and informative for them to run down their criteria briefly in the beginning. To get an insight into how various traits (popularity, influence, enjoyability, technical acumen, consistency) are weighted would help contextualize some of these weird picks. I think it might help them be more internally consistent too lol

Top 1 discography, I don't see how it's debatable, GKMC, TPAB, DAMN, MM&TBS, each one a masterpiece, and a valid pick for the best rap album ever, won rap's first Pulitzer with DAMN, has the most well executed concepts in rap, the best writer in rap in terms of literary value and poetic artistry.

I think a lot of this depends when you started listening to hip hop. I started in 89, Jay-Z and Biggie is such a difficult conversation. Pop hip hop and not having LL Cool J , Ice Cube or Andre 3000 even on the bracket seems strange to me.

What longevity? what flow? he has the most straight forward flow that hasn't changed throughout the years, he didn't even experiment with his flow at all. His albums are good at best, except of Doggystyle, only one classic. Snoop has no chance with good amount of rappers on that list, nevermind Biggie.

14:58 The argument that Kanye doesn't have mixtapes is just absurd. The odds at stake for an album being successful versus a mixtape being successful are substantially different. A failed mixtape doesn't harm an artist's reputation as much as a failed album , and the fact that Kanye's work has been well received by fans for almost two decades now. Can't think of an artist more relevant than Kanye.
In terms of longevity+quality no one will touch Em & Ye.

I think it's close, they both came up in the game as friends and both had an original style in trap that was exciting af. There's a reason they have so many songs togheter, they knew each other well and they knew each other's style so it worked fantastic every time they collabed. And Thug has a decent discography, Jeffery and Barter 6 are some of the best trap mixtapes. But yeah, it's Travis for me. DBR, Rodeo and Astroworld are just way too good.

I probably would have Jay as the champions too, although I would've made some different choices, like Kanye over Wayne(and I also think Ye could've given Biggie a harder time than Weezy on the bracket if it came down to a comparison like that) and Travis over Young Thug too. Also, I just wanted to say: since you put many female hip hop artists in the bracket, I feel like putting someone like Lauryn Hill would've felt more right than to have someone like Post Malone or Cardi B, despite me liking both of them.

How does anyone have Biggie over Kendrick? Biggie was around for only a few years while Kendrick has been putting out perfect classic albums for over 10 years
Kendrick is my favorite rapper., but Biggie is THE perfect rapper. We'll never see anyone like him again.
We are at a point now where it really doesn’t matter how long a rapper has been here for. Biggie has the classics, the flow, the coolness, the lyricism side aswell is really good from Biggie. He’s one of the ones that started this aswell remember. Give it 10-20 years more and I think Kendrick will be in that conversation more definitely
It’s the “safe” pick. I’d have Kendrick over Biggie because he’s basically put 2 albums that can be considered greatest of all time while remaining relevant under the radar. The only that really hurts Kendrick is influence.

As a rapper, I agree to move X past Post Malone, but I would never say that he is a more versatile artist. Post Malone dabbles in rap, pop, country, grunge rock, and metal. He's also a serviceable guitar player. Would give Post the nod as far as versatility.

Great video guys! I didn't agree with EVERYTHING that was decided but this type of video really encourages us to think on which criteria to use and the weight each criteria contributes to overall greatness. When we do compare rappers that's when the criteria needs to have the correct balance between being objective and subjective (especially when comparing rappers who have decades between their careers). I believe the criteria should be dominated by objective reasoning than subjective reasoning ESPECIALLY WHEN RAPPERS OF DIFFERENT DECADES ARE BEING COMPARED (btw I can't let go of the biggie over Kendrick match-up) because that's when different generations of listeners start to disagree more than actually agree. Hope this help with the greatest rappers of all time video!

Eminem was the most listened to artist it June btw. This is a 49 year old guy that hasn't released an album in 2 years and he's still relevant til this day, while Drake, who is arguably the biggest artist in the world right now released an album in June as well and yet Em is number 1. I respect Nas for what he's done for HipHop but for me there's no rapper that touches Eminem

I think this is a great video and I love the ideas, but I can't let you get away with that Wayne over Kanye or Travis over thugger. I would say the second one can definitely be debated, but c'mon it is Kanye. A rare number of artists can match Kanye's consistency and greatness in producing, rapping, singing, whatever. I like this idea tho and keep up the goat work 🔥

21 vs Pop Smoke, goddamn. 🤦🏽♂️ I love both of these artists, mannn but ima have to go with 21. FAITH aside, from MTW to SFTS, Pop’s run was flawless. If he was still alive and making music, I would’ve definitely chosen him over 21 but 21 has just gotten better and better over time.

Off topic but I feel any discussion that has to do with popularity (as in well known, influence globally) should have someone familiar with the topic that did not grow up in the US. Americans typically don't get popularity rankings right and I feel it's because they use a view lens of living here for example, I see Tom Brady in most popular athletes in the World discussions and I find that so funny. Michael Jordan is by far the most popular athlete from the states. 2 Pac is by FAR the most popular rapper from the US. and Michael Jackson is by FAR the most popular person from the US.
