Because Nostalgia 64 was good for his level and age at the time. Imperial was a great sort of just mixtape of hard bangers. TA13OO was amazingly thought out album that juuuusssst missed out on that perfection due to a lack of fleshing out the whole concept of the album with the three mind sets. ZUU was fun, but there were a few meh songs, it was nice to see Denzel go back to his roots however and some of my absolute favorite songs come from that album (see RICKY and WISH). Unlocked was an awesome mixtape of old school, boom bap style of rap, and it’s always awesome to see Denzel and Kenny work together. The closest thing to perfection we’ve gotten from Denzel in an album form was Melt My Eyez See Your Future. I don’t think there’s a single skip in that project, production is damn-near perfect, and his storytelling and subject matter was so fucking good. Overall, he’s absolutely amazing as a rapper, and is a better songwriter than most of his peers. But due to the lack of fully fleshed out albums, I don’t think it’s perfect yet.
