It's really tough to jump off of a lot of Fantano's takes because when he reviews music, he reviews it in the entire realm of music, not just one genre. What this means is when he listens to a rap song, he's not only comparing it to other rap, he's subconsciously comparing it to elements of music across ALL genres. This is his way of staying unbiased in the overall landscape of music, plus naturally happens due to his wide tastes in music in general. He always stresses this, but he rates an artist's albums and songs based on relativity to the artist's entire body of work, and whether a certain album adds to the body or takes away from it. He essentially starts from ground zero with each album listen and let's the album earn it's ratings. That being said, it can be tough to discuss something specific like just rap with him, because the viewpoints might be a bit unaligned. One party is rating it from the perspective of a rap fan, but he rates it from the perspective of a music fan. You can really tell this difference in this video. I feel there's of course pros and cons to his method, the same way it is for any method. For example on the pro side, he does often remain consistent with his unbias, however a con is that he remains very rigid and very stuck in his ways when it comes to his opinions on certain records. At the end of the day though, it's his opinions.
At the same time, I do feel like when people try to only compare rap to rap they are really limiting what the genre can be. Why can't it stand on the same level as other genres? Yeah it's very different but so is jazz from folk. JPEG talks about this better than I can but I feel like there's nothing wrong with viewing hip hop in the same landscape, if anything it opens the genre up to more influences and unique takes
@@edwardhill7297 I wholeheartedly agree and I'm glad Fantano does it, however I think music tends to be very segregated due to the whole idea of critiquing in the first place. Music can be as personal or non-personal as you make it, but we can't deny that since the digital age, liking certain kinds of music or artists has really become an element of people's identities. Because of that, it often makes it hard to have an even playing field when discussing music. From my personal experience I've found its futile. You can tell people an album is good/bad for xyz reasons and they'll respond with "who cares, as long as I and all of the other artist's fans likes it then it shouldn't matter" or conversely you could tell someone "who are we to compare and critique music" and they'll respond with "no, certain elements of music are objectively better than others" so it just becomes this endless cycle
@@FlameOnDeck That's true, it makes music discussions much more personal and biased as people feel like parts of themselves are being critiqued. When we separate ourselves from the discussion, music conversations can be really interesting and give new insights on the art we hold dear. It's all about interpretation of art, objectivity in these conversations gets on my nerves haha

I’m no where near a Logic fan, but I have been around the internet for a while. Growing up, Call of Duty was the game you wanted to play from 2007, to about 2014. The biggest conglomerate coming from Call of Duty from those times was FaZe Clan. FaZe Clan used to make crazy compilations videos of their cool sniper trick shots; in the background would be young Logic. Logic found his footing among gaming videos, and turned into a world renowned artist. With his most famous song discussing a topic as large as suicide. Watching him grow from essentially nowhere, has been nothing but inspiring to me.
2 things: 1. I'm a huge hivemind fan - and I'm a huge NFR fan! But - as far as I know - Hivemind still hasn't gotten Melon! Y'all are real for this for sure - especially second time! 2. I appreciate that Fantano sticks to his guns around Logic! And isn't influenced. I think it is out of love! That he respects logic when he's good - but he knows logic could probably be even better! So he's not just gonna let him off easy!
I agree with Fantano about Travis. The tracks on birds are kinda similar to rodeo on the level that they’re nothing new like the jump from rodeo to Astro world. Birds to me is like rodeo b-sides and “leftovers” but it still has bangers. Astroworld is also bloated too. Songs like who what, rip screw, wake up, yosemite aren’t songs I go back to in that track list.
This video was recorded in June or July, why are they just now releasing it, you can tell by outfits and them talking about the post Malone album before it came out
So what I get from this tierlist is Drake is like a beginners level tutorial musician before you meet all the other artist that are better in every genre he does. Got it, I will go home and tell the kids what happened in 1997
How? Have you even listened to Under Pressure or The Incredible True Story? The production and vibe is unmatched. Fantano looking hella jealous right here
@@canadianbacon8545Fantano is much higher esteemed is his arena than Logic and probably has more money at this point. Opinions at a certain level of deliberation develop a strong objective element.
@mandem2362 I wouldn't be so sure. He has a lot of TH-cam views and he is pretty bright, and logic is a marginally popular rapper. My point wasn't so much his net worth being higher as it was his pedigree as a professional is higher.
I dont understand how people think, not praising someone extremely highly is hating. Music is subjective, everyone that thinks fantano is hating are saying that because of there own biases towards the artist, its just his personal opinion. Not everyone is gonna view the music/artists you like the same way, some of you are way too close minded.
I don’t get why Post Malone is considered a rapper. Some of his music is definitely influenced by hip hop and has elements of it. But saying he’s a rapper is just weird. Also funny they saying he’s mid when he’s one of the most popular artists of the 15 years. He’s had more hits than Drake and is also a really great guy.
Because he just regurgitate what every hater says that his music hasn't aged well when in fact, 99-2003 Em is just classic after classic and saying something didn't aged well means nothing but your own subjective taste you take for being objective

I’m just gonna say this cause it has to be said. The Eminem discourse is getting pretty out of hand now. Yea he dropped a stinker with revival. Kamikaze was good and MTBMB is good (especially side b) as well if you properly give it a try. But to pretend that these overshadow all the amazing projects he did is recency bias. He is probably the most famous rapper worldwide, and it’s natural the number of fans and hater rise proportionately. The scrutiny is definitely higher for him and that’s a part of the game. What if em tomorrow drops a crazy album? You guys aren’t gonna give enough credit cause you will cite those stinkers. A bad album can overshadow great ones but it’s like you can never come back from a bad one.
Most people agree that Recovery and Kamikaze were pretty 🔥 I’ve never heard anyone say either was a bad album if they were being fair. I mean we went through a few years where it was cool to hate on Em but I think we’re past that

2 things:
L on RIP Screw
You realize you are one person, I go back to all of those songs lmao the album had 8 billion streams
putting post malone at mid is absolute insanity
right? should be in bad
Unfortunately Fantano really dislikes most of what gives post his signature sound. He gave Stoney a NOT GOOD, which still stings
LMAO they said “his catalog doesn’t hold up that much” bruhhhhh
@@astr0saucedude is not much of a rapper anymore, but an absolutely amazing artist. Great category for sure😌
They said he relies on features.. But who listens to Rockstar for 21Savage?
This video was recorded in June or July, why are they just now releasing it, you can tell by outfits and them talking about the post Malone album before it came out
To be fair Fantanos existence is a light 1
Out of 1
You're just mad he didn't share his vegan recipe with you
Out of 1
So what I get from this tierlist is Drake is like a beginners level tutorial musician before you meet all the other artist that are better in every genre he does.
Got it, I will go home and tell the kids what happened in 1997
11:50 this take was so funny💀
@@canadianbacon8545 im just saying that explanation was funny
@@umberto488Fantano definitely isn't richer than Logic 💀
@mandem2362 I wouldn't be so sure. He has a lot of TH-cam views and he is pretty bright, and logic is a marginally popular rapper. My point wasn't so much his net worth being higher as it was his pedigree as a professional is higher.
I'm not gonna lie the one super positive guy is killing me.
19:18 This did not age well
wdym, drake flamed Kendrick when he said “liar, liar, pants on fire” 🔥
The best Logic record is better than the best ASAP Rocky record in our opinion.
Oh no
Very happy to see lil mosey at perfect
The drake glazing is crazy😂
No bro his music is good just newer shit is mid
as an jpegmafia fan I think i will see this as an absolut win
Loved the Los Pollos Drake & Drive shoutout lol
Bro Fantano’s hate on Drake is wild wtf 😂
No hate , he’s a culture vulture who dumbs down his own potential for the fuck of it .
Compared to the love the other 2 have for him, I think it's fair 😂
He said he would have put him in good if it was his rating, how is that hating. Nothing will every be enough for Drake glazers
@@carstenmoney920he said good to be generous, he really wanted bad to mid
@@hamishcallander3130 he said "i would put it in good to mid" what are you smoking
Fantano: Drake took a L with Pusha-T
NFR: But a W with Meek Mills!
C'mon now, there's levels to this.
Dababy has a good flow tbh. Wiyh the right production he sounds great. Like on Ye's Jail pt2 and Snoop Doggs Pop Pop and Dreamvilles Under the Sun
It’s always the same flow tho
@@J-SM0KE26 ya true but at least its distinctive as oppose to so many of the others out in the last few years who carbon copy each other
Fantano seemed like the only person actually listening or capitulating on some disagreements
The logic metaphor was brutal 💀
I dont understand how people think, not praising someone extremely highly is hating. Music is subjective, everyone that thinks fantano is hating are saying that because of there own biases towards the artist, its just his personal opinion. Not everyone is gonna view the music/artists you like the same way, some of you are way too close minded.
Fantanos take on travis makes me want to do things to him
me as a drake fan 😭
I don’t get why Post Malone is considered a rapper. Some of his music is definitely influenced by hip hop and has elements of it. But saying he’s a rapper is just weird.
Also funny they saying he’s mid when he’s one of the most popular artists of the 15 years. He’s had more hits than Drake and is also a really great guy.
Top 5 Rappers of All Time are Eminem,Masta Ace, Rakim, Nas, Redman in no order
Love how this is called "popular rappers tier list" & then have Mos def as one of the rappers they discuss lmao
Surprised Fantano admitted Em deserves amazing. His takes on old Em are terrible yet he still put him in the right spot.
Wdym terrible?
Because he just regurgitate what every hater says that his music hasn't aged well when in fact, 99-2003 Em is just classic after classic and saying something didn't aged well means nothing but your own subjective taste you take for being objective
@@Python-xs2iv dude he called Role Model bad. The second verse on there is up there w/ the best verses of all time. Look at his storytelling on World Keeps Turning. I could go on but I’m not gonna. He knows how good he is. He spent years pissing on Eminem then puts him in the amazing category lol
@@SilentSage777 Ah ok, just needed clarification. However, new Eminem isn't that good, so can you blame him for shitting on his newer albums?
@@Python-xs2iv not really. But I didn’t say anything about that, I said his takes on old Em are terrible.
em not being in perfect is a crime
He’s my fav rapper but he has stinkers that prevent him from being there
@@Gayden999 when u rap for like 30 years, and have like 500 songs ofc there'll be stinkers
52:38 WHAT THE ZEST WAS THAT "yeah"
saying drake leaves a path of destruction to everything he touches is crazy
This was before Kendrick killed drake 💀😂
Exactly! Saying multiple stinkers is crazy when there's max 2
@@Kiki-xx3fjEncore, Recovery, Revival and Kamikaze are all pretty stinky albums if we're being really honest. "Max 2" is being generous
Most people agree that Recovery and Kamikaze were pretty 🔥
I’ve never heard anyone say either was a bad album if they were being fair. I mean we went through a few years where it was cool to hate on Em but I think we’re past that
Revival and MMLP2 are the really bad one. Even Encore has some great moments on it and the best tracks off Encore shit on anything he put out after Relapse.
Has has relasticaly 2-3 duds which is standard for almost every artist.
@@francoisturcotte3982The only undisputed stinker by Em is "Revival". That's the only album by him that everyone agrees sucks. All the others albums have people that love them.
29:20 wasn’t about Keems next album. It was about his Amazon prime special that dropped this year
how tf is post malone on the same level as ice spice
fr ice spice should be way higher than post
@@MafuidigKarlssonWhat? Lmfaoo
@@MafuidigKarlssondude, Posty has the most certified song in history what ya talking about😭
Fantano saying Role Model is a mid song is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard
People expected drake to disappear or die off after the pusha t controversy but look what happened.. drake continued and continues to be the biggest artist in the world. So drake in anything less than amazing is INSANE
Drake released in my feelings next month after SOA and it now has more streams than all of 108 Pusha T songs combined.
Kendrick got the lick back
Ant defending Ice Spice with his life, absolute shocker.
