Anton Bruckner - Zur Vermählungsfeier (WAB 54) - BRUCKNER QUARTET

A BRUCKNER A MONTH
For the ninth video in our series A BRUCKNER A MONTH we chose again a rather unknown piece: Zur Vermählungsfeier, WAB 54. In general, Bruckner dedicated most of his choral works to heavy biblical settings like the crucifixion. In contrast, he wrote this piece for a happier event: a wedding ceremony. The piece was intented to be performed during the ceremony of Bruckner's landlord in a catholic church. However, the ceremony did not occur, because the groom was a protestant. Therefore it is not known when the piece was performed first. Quite a chance that this piece was as unknown at that time as it is now.
To record our video, we chose a beautiful spot in the city centre of Rotterdam with it's most important landmark in the back: the Erasmus Bridge. On the left you'll see a bit of the idyllic Veerhaven. This place is very popular to newly weds to take their wedding photo's, therefore a perfect place for us to record this piece by Bruckner!

It's public domain, you can get them yourself for free

We are working on publishing them in the future so not yet, but it is public domain indeed and we try to stay as close to the original as possible ;)
