I truly loved watching the video. I was very happy to see success so many times after hearing about your past experiences. Keep up the great work. There are some good advice given to you in the comments. Cutting down the grass to prepare yourself a runway and buying some extra props are some of the important ones. Oh and always takeoff and land into the wind. Have great fun. Cheers from The Great White North 🇨🇦

Congratulations on such a successful flight!... The Apprentice Airplanes are so far the best trainers in the market either one of them, The Mini Apprentice, and the Regular and bigger Apprentice STS...
I'm giving you both a solid 10 on your flights!... Well done! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I wish you many awesome flights and safe landings!... Have a great day my friends! Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🌵🦠😷🇵🇷

I've crashed 4 planes trying to learn since the 80s. I got the itch still to fly! Thanks for the motivation

Same. I'm 49 years old. Been flying fixed wing for 2 years. I've been practicing with the gyro- enabled micro scale warbirds. I crash anything that doesn't have "SAFE" or pilot assist (FMS 1100mm Cessna, FMS Range 850mm) but I can confirm these planes that limit roll and pitch and self-level are very flyable. The trick becomes transitioning to flying without assistance. I've been putting in some simulator time too Real Flight Evolution is pretty nice.

You turn flight assist off and things get interesting for sure 😀

Better than I have started. My first Apprentice ends up in a tree. Now I can fly much better and I can tell you it is like driving a car. First time you are nervous but this will go away over the time and you will gain routine and confidence. Always keep trying.

Bravo Zulu buddy. I was a newby once. Many broken planes ago. Glue and tape. Some real fun. Lose the wheels and reinforce edges with clear packing tape for nicks n gouges. N more stickers defnitly more stickers. ;) And stay away from the edges of the sky!

I have one and best tip I can give is take off facing the wind and land facing the wind. Tip 2. Get it several mistakes high. Tip 3. Comes after you get several models and it has infected you to the point you are taking them to work so you can fly on lunch. Get a Radiomaster TX16S. Learn to program it and it will control all your models. That way you can by the BNF versions and save money. It is a GREAT hobby and it is nice to see 3 generations enjoying it!!! What area in the South are you from, not far from me guessing by the accent. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!

I am on the RC simulator for this plane, not new to the RC world, just learning from where i started from, could fly, but get a bit mixed up on the direction as the controls are the other way round when you come into land, unless you are behind the plane, great effort guys

You guys did very good considering you didn't have someone with experience assisting/helping you.
Get yourself a few spare props as there is a chance of breaking one when the plane noses over. If that's your property it wouldn't take much to mow yourself a decent size runway to use for takeoffs and landings. Mow it as short as reasonably possible and in line with your predominant winds. Continued good luck! Have fun and be safe.

Great to see you both flying a RC plane for the 1st time, pity your son didn't get to have a go too. Do you have any more video of your later flights or has the model been stored for a rainy day ?

Where’s the Banjo?? All kidding aside, this is wonderful, al about introducing younger generation to a beautiful hobby. Note that wing design, designed to stall the tips before stalling the inside areas. This makes it less likely to tip stall at low speed….

Something fun to do is go up really high then put it in advanced mode and aim straight for the ground and before you get too close hit the panic switch to level her out. Probably not very good for the plane lol

    Join a club.
    Fly away from the sun.
Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses.
Try landing with the nose into the wind.

My first flight ended in a tree as well...about 30 ft. up. Couldn't use a climber because of too many limbs in the way. Sooo...I shot the limbs away with a .308, lol. I got the plane back though!
