Excellent video! One note about the crypt music used in 2002, I believe it is the same track that is currently used at the exit at Tokyo’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare but with the backing vocals removed.
I'm so glad I found this video! as someone who was also on the very first version of this overlay, I have a soft spot for the OG soundtrack ESPECIALLY the 2001 Ballroom track... I had absolutely NO idea that the 2002 Stretching Room music was even a thing until now!
Id like to mention a minor change in 2001 in the graveyard the duke & duchess used to have a 3rd singer which presumably was the mourner ghost sitting on the hearse & the hearse groups audio used to be accompanied by some instruments but in present day the the female ghost singers audio is gone along with the hearse background instruments and some of their verses are also muted but fortunately though the hearse groups complete audio can be heard in the unloading area in tokyo disney & in californias haunted mansion lighting ceremony
Ok I had to watch this video again during the holiday season! I love it so much! Haunted Mansion Holiday has really changed so much over the years! I noticed though the changing portraits in the hallway look different this year. Maybe it had to do with the lighting? The extended queue is a change (but that’s a non overlay update as it pertains to both versions). But the gifts in the crypt look different (digital as to a pepper’s ghost effect). Which makes me think the hitchhiking ghosts will go digital once the overlay ends in January. I still love this overlay so much! I rode it 3 times on my last visit last weekend. Thank you for the fantastic video, Gabs! Season screamings!🤗🤗🎄🎄☃️☃️🎃🎃💀💀🎅🎅
This was a super fun video! I'm going in a couple of weeks and this ride is my top priority :) I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for the portrait animations lol.
Oh my gosh I completely agree with the new transitions with the hallway portraits. I am so mad about what they have done to it this year, I really hope they switch it back. The timing was perfect every single time I went from 2013 on, so not sure how the timing went off a couple times since it was a pretty good system. Thank you so much for making this video this is my favorite overlay as well as really my favorite ride in general at Disneyland. Was so cool to learn a bit more about the history.
@GhoulishGabs Awesome video but you mean it's minor mistake. The current foyer music is actually the melody of making christmas and not jacks lament bottle of that fantastic job As someone who loves nightmare before Christmas and The Haunted mansion this overlay is just perfect.❤
Awesome video! I loved your personal touch and your story was so sweet. I finally got to see the Holiday Mansion this past year expecting just an overlay, and I was absolutely blown away. It was a whole new ride that successfully launched me into a whole obsession with The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’ve watched it five times since😂 Also, maybe?? Unpopular opinion?? But I LOVE Debney’s score a whole lot better. It has a way more Danny Elfman/TNBC feel rather than a somewhat generic haunted Christmas sort of deal. Nothing to me as ever felt more magical than walking into the hallway and hearing Kidnap The Sandy Claws. I love Boogie’s Boys in general and to this day I only think of the ride when I hear the song🖤🖤🖤
I’ve always been to The Haunted Mansion once but I really would like to see the attraction during Halloween and Christmas just to see the overlay of the attraction on both ends.
Isn't the lighting ceremony for the mansion the only time where you're encouraged to scream along, thus being the only remnant of the 'scream alongs' that now only happen once a day during the holiday overlay?

As of November 26th. The music box that used to play outside the mansion during its overlay has been replaced. imo, it doesn't fit in with the aesthetics on the outside of the overlay.

When the overlay opened 3 or 4 months ago, it stilled played the music box. Now it doesn't. I might as well head straight to city hall and complain about the music change when I get there.

Disney World doesn’t do Haunted Mansion Holiday, it’s an Anaheim and Tokyo exclusive
