    That’s probably the most mid-90s Disney song to have ever been in the 90s.

      And like most mid 90s Disney songs, it’s an absolute banger

    I just came across this video after doing my own deep dive!
    Here’s how I would remake light magiic, or have done it if I were an imagineer in the 90’s
    1. keep it a parade, not a streetacular. When people heard there would be a follow up on the electrical parade, they all thought it was gonna be a parade, soo might as well do that right?
    2. Have an overarching fairytale theme. You can have the fairies with scrolls making the stories come to life (literal fairytales), little woodland villages, as for synergy all the movie representations can be based on Disney’s fairytale adaptations. Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid. You get the idea.
    3. The mickey float has to be jack in the beanstalk for extra synergy
    4. A brief, minute long show stop with the riverdancing and confetti. Then tinkerbell (via projector effext), brings the parade back to movement with pixie dust
    All of this and you can have a really cute and magical parade IMO

    I don’t know if anyone would agree with me on this, but if Disney were to revive this show, I feel like it could be successful nowadays.
    Nostalgia is a huge player in the entertainment game right now and consumers are eating it up. It also seems like Light Magic has sort of gained a cult following as time has gone on, so between those factors, I feel like a Light Magic revival would ironically be successful!

    From what I understand (courtesy of Jim Hill Media), the Tinkerbell model was supposed to be remote-controlled--a plastic model with lights inside, controlled the way a remote-control airplane would be. But they decided it was just too risky--what if they lost control of Tink and she flew right into someone's eye? Or (far less dangerous, but just as fraught with bad publicity) what if she crashed and burned? You'd have a park full of hysterical children who'd just seen Tinkerbell die before their eyes!

    • @GhoulishGabs
      @GhoulishGabs  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That honestly makes a lot of sense! I wonder with the rise of drones, would this version of a flying tinker bell be even more possible?

    I was only a child when this “streetacular” debuted. And I STILL vividly remember the flush of 2nd-hand embarrassment I got from the very moment it started. I especially remember because I asked my parents “Can we go on a ride right now instead?” And unfortunately we didn’t because they stuck through it HOPING that it would get better…and it never did. Except for the very VERY brief moment when they play a segment of the baroque hoedown. But then the 2nd-hand embarrassment hit and hit HARD once again and the show was finally over and we could hear ALL of the complaints about how weird the show was and how it wasn’t a good replacement at all.

    “Light Tragic”? Hehe. I was just at Disneyland today, and as I was waiting for the parade, the Queen from Snow White walked by me and called the parade “Tragic Happens”!

    I was only able to watch a bit during the premiere... But I think I agree Light Magic was such a tragic tale to the point you feel sorry for it. :(
    I say we should start a petition for Disneyland to bring back this show in some way like you said, Even if it is just a one night event like during 90's night. :D

    I can't remember if it was this parade or another one, but I remember reading somewhere that a nighttime parade from around this era was supposed to go with the 1998 New Tomorrowland but the conjunction of the two was scrapped

    I’m late to the party so apologies… I LOVED this show as a kid. Now as an adult, I see the problems. As a child, I loved fairies and I loved the show. I never realized how short it ran. I was once picked to dance with one of the fairies during the show. There’s a photo that exists of me dancing with the fairy somewhere. 1000% the sound track is still a banger.

    We saw it opening weekend and as a 7-year-old, I absolutely loved it. I even got pulled up to dance with 2 of the pixies. I begged my parents get me the CD that had the show soundtrack on it. Looking back now I realize its flaws and why people hated it, but as a kid, it was magical. I also think it would’ve done better in Fantasyland Theater.

    Sadly my family skipped visiting the summer Light Magic was out, so I never saw it outside of that televised thing. But I loved the aesthetic of the show, and was disappointed it didn't stay, but the technical reasons it didn't work (i.e. the screens being hard to see in some angles, etc) were valid. And I'm surprised people thought the inclusion of Baroque Hoedown was disrespectful! I loved that they incorporated it into the music, personally. ^^;
