Chet Catallo was and is an excellent guitarist! And I have seen him play live with Spyro Gyra way back in 1980, same time this video was produced. My only complaint about the bands producing, or arrangements, is that Chet should have had more up front time than he actually had! And I'm not saying he should have been written into every song to solo,, but when you consider that smooth jazz was fathered by Spyro Gyra and a small handful of bands, and guitar solos are most certainly much more prominent than you hear in this band! At the same time I'll contradict myself, and say the production is wonderful as it is! Jay Beckenstein's sax and Tom Schuman's keys are always up front,, and Catallo is mostly left with chord fills, or comping solos, which don't allow the audience to FULLY APPRECIATE Chets real guitar work!!! Thanks for posting this great slice of Spyro Gryras,,, and,,, MY musical experience!!!
Percolator Shaker Song Autumn Of Our Love Cockatoo Cafe Amore (Plays when Jay talks about the crew) Catching The Sun Laser Material Lovin' You Morning Dance Carnaval (Plays at Credits) Thank you LaLoMeN!
One of my all time favorite bands! First heard their second album in '79 and finally got to see them live in 2011. Met Jay, Tom, Julio and then drummer Bonnie B and bassist Scott Ambush. Magical!
This is my all time favorite contemporary jazz group! I have all 32 of their albums and saw them live many times in concert. I remember renting this video on VHS back in the days. The tape was kind of ruined, but the problem was corrected. Anyway, this was one of my favorite concerts on VHS. I have searched for this concert for so long, but no avail. Lo & behold, I came across this video and I was amazed. Thank You Very Much for posting this.
Thanxs a million, LaLoMeN...Spyro Gyra were one of my very favorite smooth jazz bands back in the late 70s, and throughout the 80s. Appreciate the memories. WOW!!! could these guys jam.
Thanks for uploading this. Spyro Gyra is a very important band for my generation . Most of the music used as comercial courtains in a local tv channel.By the way I`n not so sure if this channel ever paid for the rights to use them.
thanks for posting this, been getting back into SG, amazing band, so tight in this era, I think Access All Areas was their peak, just a great album and line up.
Wow thank you so much for posting this show. I have been looking for this "Access All Areas" line-up on TH-cam for years! Have you ever heard of a SG show avaialble on audio or video with this line up and Kim Stone on bass (bajo!!) rather than Jim Kurzdorfer? Brilliant upload - thank you!!
