It was about 40 years ago that I moved to Malaysia to teach in a Canadian pre-university school. Spent four years there and got locally married. We moved back to Canada because I wanted more career options and missed the seasons. We have made many trips back to Malaysia, and always have a good time. Our favourite place is Penang.

You can explore out of the city centre to experience more of KL.
Theres lush greenery of the botanical gardens with many attractions such as Bird Park & Islamic Civilization Museum. We have waterfalls around the outskirts of the city, just a short 30-mins drive you can find cascading wasterfalls within jungle.
A short MRT/LRT ride will get you to the suburbs such as Kajang, famous for its satay...or Kepong where the vibe suddenly change..or Damansara & Petaling Jaya. Just an hour away is the administrative centre of Putrajaya with a totally different vibe.

You can walk in any parts of Malaysia and be 99% safe especially if you're male. There won't be any hoodies jumping on you like in the UK or NY. Some places in the city may appear dinghy, but it's pretty safe any time of the day. For women, it's still quite safe (not as safe as Spore or Japan), but need to be mindful of time and places.
If you happen to come again, make use of the Grab. Taxis can be 'iffy' with their integrity. Malaysians had a love hate relationship with the local taxi drivers, Grab was considered godsend 😊

    • @josh.onthemove

About a year ago my stomach started to get hard as a rock ( not from doing sit-ups ) ..it was a bit distended and I was starting to think I had stomach cancer . Long story shot I stopped drinking soda cold turkey and switched over to only to drinking water,…within a week or two that did the trick,.. my stomach went back to normal ( there’s no doubt in my mind it was from the soda, and you’ll never see me drink soda again )
