Schopenhauer's philosophy is not pessimism; it's realism.

Exactly. I always thought the same. Saying it is a "pessimistic" philosophy implies that there is a more "neutral" philosophy with respect to which Schopenhauer's philosophy is negatively biased.
For me this is simply REALISM. I don't find what Artur expressed false at all.

And those of us who refuse to accept the standard miss America speech type consolations/motivations of: "just go and do what feels right", following senseless and deceptive instinctual drives, "and you'll feel better. Pull yourself up from your dark pit bla bla etc etc" (jordan peterson)

@@Dutch_bastard_23The last one is true, though. You need to pull yourself out of the dark. And your drive doesn’t need to be deceptive at all, in fact it should be as reasonable as possible.

Loneliness is a withdrawal symptom from contact with others (unconscious addiction). To be alone is the choice to deliberately withdraw from the company of others (conscious choice). It is the desire for interaction with others that leads to conflict and misery.

I never realized that life is only suffering when I was a child I would suffer but not realize it as I get older and I look back at everything. I realized most of the time I’m not happy with school getting up early being off Saturday and Sunday, thinking work is Monday and that gave me suffering all the hard jobs trying to pay the bills The medical problems, my wife leaving me for five months, slamming my fingers in car doors, and now being old and only going to have Social Security to live on which is not enough I hate it life and I look forward to death

I’d rather have not been brought into existence and stay sleeping, then to be in a fetal position on my deathbed going into the blackness after a lifetime of struggle. But yes you’re right there are moments in life where it is joyful and I’m taking my cross and I’m going forward. Jesus says he will fold his universe up and make a brand new one made for happiness right now God is dealing with the Devil with man’s rebellion with sin as soon as that’s all destroyed then we will live the way God intended

@MMAGUY13 God is real the proof is the universe. This universe is marvelous made by a marvelous God. So we are a products of a marvelous God. The suffering is just one part of that product, and it's necessary, and Jesus came with a message from God to us, "minimize the suffering "
