    I love all your videos, but this one is the best of 2024. Right at the last minute before 2025, you ended the year on an ultra high note. Outstanding my friend, a great year for horror and the Ghost Pirate Army.

    Happy New Year Kainan! (I know I’m early) I recently saw some movies you might appreciate, “The King Tide” and “A
    Creature Was Stirring”.
    “The King Tide” was on Prime. It’s not listed as horror but it seems to have some horror elements to me.
    “A Creature Was Stirring” was on AMC+ but it may be on Shudder. I have one those package deals so I’m not sure which channel it’s on.

    So thrilled to see Speak no evil on the list, the original movie. This film was an incredible find and it left me feeling proper wigged out and like " what must happend? " sadly a lot of younger horror fans are looking for the bloodiest movies sometimes with no substance. I am a huge horror fan and love movies like Freaks,The cabinet of Dr Caligari and the old Hammer movies. Horror for me is a feeling ...it's how I am left thinking after the movie. Creepy, sinister,dark,thought provoking and making me feel uncomfortable is a good horror ..like you said we are all different but sometimes visually less is more visually so it leaves me thinking a lot more and I have a very vivid imagination and these movies take you to a place and then leave you there to think it out! ....Love your channel for this reason...it's not all blood & guts!

    I will say the younger generation don't have the same mind set to enjoy a lot of these movies we love. The attention span and the deep dive into story. I really feel like we need a mind reset. People rarely read or use their imagination to make things better or more intense. There is no mind power anymore. It makes me sad. We have a giant computer in our heads that aren't used anymore.

    • @MrSeedi76
      @MrSeedi76 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Basically the same complaints have been raised about the younger generation since about 5,000 years. Or about us - gen x. 😂 Still remember my ma who complained about me reading comic books and not novels. She even refused to read them to me but luckily my grandma had no such qualms 😊. Or how she later complained about me having the TV on all day, watching VHS tapes (many of them horror as I've been a fan for over 30 years). It recently occurred to me that my son (17) has no problem following a 3 hr wendigoon podcast but he doesn't read. 😂He also has no problem following an amine series with dozens of seasons and hundreds of episodes. So it's not the attention span that's the problem, it's the medium of story telling that is changing, like it always does. At the moment, we're going back to sitting around the fire (in our case TH-cam) and getting told horror stories by people, not reading them in books. Sometimes not even watching them on TV or in the cinema. But even that's not the case 100 percent of the time as it was my son who dragged me in Alien Romulus 😂.

    I may not always agree with you but this is a perfect video from start to finish! every single movie on your list is amazing and i'm so glad to have you shine light on them! i also agree wholeheartedly with your comments on the Babadook, It follows, Longlegs and just wanted to add - I think nuance is lost to many younger viewers unfortunately. These are movies with lots of themes, metaphors, intertwining, mixing together. These are movies that urge the viewer to think, to analyse and I think nowadays viewers just wanna be fed content, told what to make of it. That's why these great movies are for fewer and fewer people as time goes by. I wish you all the best in 2025 and hope for many more great videos in your channel!

    • @dreizinkiappo
      @dreizinkiappo หลายเดือนก่อน

      quick add - thank you for mentioning Raw and Titane in your recs! they get a lot of hate but it's understandable - body horror when it's real and visceral and not fetishized to fit the male gaze is actually quite disturbing. i'd also add Birth/Rebirth with them as some of the best examples of the fear women experience of the way their bodies are able to change. pregnancy, birth, menstruation, cosmetic procedures - it's all body horror when you think of it. The substance finally took that concept into the mainstream but all the incredible efforts preceding it should be mentioned and riveted.

    Honestly I don’t think people understand the Babadook. The “monster” represented her mental health. That is why the monster is kept in the basement at the end of the movie.. you can’t make issues/problems go away. You can only contain them and try to control your bad thoughts. It was a very well done film.

    It Follows is brilliant... I had a feeling of imminent dread throughout the movie, Maika Monroe is perfect for horror movies... Didn't know there is a Sequel until you just told me, Nice One, Bring on The Horror!!

    The Babadook is one of the only movies i dont watch because its very disturbing to me. But I think its one of the best horror movies of the last 20-30 years for me!

    I agree with you on The Babadook. It’s so good and the way the actors are acting is the whole point of the movie. I literally said that out loud right before you did lol. It does deserve more recognition for how great it really is.

    Oh man great video and a hell of a way to cap off the year. I saw the suggestions for doing these types of videos and hoped to see one! Did not expect the format though going year by year has opposed to just your favs/best from the last decade overall. Hey that might be a good video too 😊.

    Your Liiiiiiist …is in line with my tastes for sure. Horror movies that feel like the writers and directors obsessed over important details other than jump scares. Originality is the theme of your selections, and the lists over the past year have helped me believe in the future of horror. Dread is the new slasher.

    Great list! There is some stuff I disagree with (I personally can't stand Hereditary or When Evil Lurks, I would have put The Lighthouse in the 2019 slot, ect) but your lists are always super interesting, varried and enthusiastic in a way most horror channels aren't.
    I had never even heard of The Night House so that is going right on my list.

    I think in order for the babadook too really land the way Kent intended, the audience has to be able to really relate on a personal level to the story. For me I could definitely relate with some of the trauma that I've experienced as a child to this story and it scared the hell out of me

      That trailer in Witch would have been so much better if we are not shown that the baby is gone after Ana says peekaboo. We should just have seen her worried face, and not the reason.
      Love the movie!

      When I was like 14 I got a bunch of people from youth group to go see “deep rising”
      Somehow I got the idea it would just be an action movie and I don’t remember much about it but it was pretty vulgar and not good.
      some older guy commented on the way out about all the terrible language and bad stuff we saw 😂
      I was so embarrassed I got everyone together and planned whole thing.
