Our family once lived in the beautiful town of Port Alice. I use to work at the local Chevron gas station. Live there from mid 1960 till 1980. We went back to visit couple years ago, had to stop in Port McNeill where we graduated. That where Larry Mitchell an ex Vancouver Canucks lived once. What a wonderful place my parent had found to raise us kids. Please go and put this place to visit into your bucket list. Have a great summer 2021. Bye for Burnaby
at 18:00 the store is still there with a Pizza place next to it and of course what town would be without a Nail Salon?? The bar next to the store closed, too many fights I'm told and the place has fallen into a state of disrepair. Legion has a dinner once a month or so. 1 gas station at the west end of town. This was a week ago when I left. It was dark when going to and from work so not much of an opportunity so see much. Was working on the taking down of the Mill. Areas abandoned and looked like the workers went for coffee and never returned. What a waste of tools still in pristine shape. You know this place goes back a while when you come across a full box of wood hammer handles..
I didn't see any rain in the video. I'm a Vancouver Islander for the last 40 years by choice - I don't have to shovel the rain and I don't own a winter parka or snow boots.
Iv'e lived from the tip of Vancouver Island, to Cranbrook, and a number of southern BC towns in between. My worst memories are of the north island, and the miserable depressing weather. No amount of Money could ever make me live there again.
I love Vancouver Island, but the video could have been shortened, as long stretches were repeating the same scenery. Videos of about 12 min are ideal. Too remote for me, and I think there are prettier places within an hour of Victoria, I would much prefer.
@@richegan7825 Ucluelet??? We loved both places-for different reasons. Stayed in a lovely B&B with a wonderful older couple in Port Alice. The wife was a retired nurse. Ucluelet is much prettier ;)

@TechL L The only gas station in town is at the West end with above ground tanks. Just left last Wednesday. Working on the taking down of the Mill,
Drove right past my house. :) Love my little village. And I've never met anyone who doesn't feel the sane way. Welcome, and thanks for coming by.

I live here
what are we driving?
No one wants to talk about the never ending rain?

I lived there for over 20 years and am glad to live now where the sun shines.
Enjoy the gray and rain.@@suddenlysolo2170

Jiust so.@@tnbrfller
I love the mountains and the never ending view of the ocean. Lovely!
Yah it's beautiful there but the trouble is there is so very few properties available the town needs to open up more undeveloped land for new homes .
that's what keeps it beautiful!! No bloody development!! stay in your big city and deal with what's going on instead of trying to escape.
This attitude will ruin a gem like this

Port Alice is way prettier than anywhere on south end of the island
Victoria is as flat as aboard. It’s the ugliest spot on the Island as far as natural beauty goes.
You are probably right. But the saltwater FISHING is better up there. 😃
