Very nice to see the town hasn't been vandalized. Every window was intact! Beautiful scenery and definitely late 70's-early 80's decor. Would be fascinating to visit and see if it's still as is in this video.
I lived here for two years. My memories are so great there was always something to do and it was the best place ever for playing. A lot of the houses were empty and we would sneak in and play inside. Most of the time though we had the greatest outdoor adventures. Once a month I’d take my allowance and go to the “mall” restaurant and have a hamburger, fries and a Shirley temple. Oh how I miss those days! Oh and I can’t forget the bear traps all over town. While on recess or lunch If we heard the whistle blow three times we knew we had to stop playing and line up to go back inside because there was a bear nearby.
Such a surreal video, a town “abandoned” for 40 years in really pristine condition. Almost a post apocalyptic feeling. The carpet in the houses looks better than in my house!
The power being on made me wonder until I saw the cut grass around the first building you entered, and the relatively dust-free and clean state of the houses. Even an empty house would have more dust in it after all that time. The has to be some sort of caretaker(s) looking after the town, as shown also by the cleanliness and the way all the school books were so clean too. The roads were also clear of leaves and debris, and there was a fallen tree cut through for access. Great video, would love to visit there myself one day. UPDATE: The town is now owned by a businessman and the road is blocked off but with a notice where you can visit the town with a guide to see the hospital, library and some of the other buildings, preserving the beautiful state of all buildings and surroundings. This may answer the question I asked above regarding cut grass and general cleanliness of the area.
When the town closed down circa 1983, a caretaker couple remained (or, at least, were hired after the fact) to do upkeep. Landscaping was done and I believe buildings were heated on a rotating basis. They must have also gone into buildings on occasion and looked for any noticeable signs of decay. However, at that point, I imagine there were not very many repairs to do. Anyway, I think that the town was kept by the mining company's caretaker(s) until the town was purchased by said businessman. After that point, I am not sure who became in charge of looking after it - only that it continues to be maintained, now needing much more work since having been sold. (Remember, the town was only about 25 years old when it was purchased by that businessman; an additional 18 years have passed since then.)

Everything seems to be in such good shape. It is a shame that no one is living there anymore. It looked like it was a beautiful little community. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been there! Was there in 1991. We actually got our modular home from there when some family bought 52 of the modular homes to resell and haul them out. It was such a weird feeling to drive so far out in the middle of nowhere and then enter into this little town. The caretaker was still there then. It was so cool to come across your video!

Layne Lawless Really they do get paid - depending on how many views they get . U tube is a ‘money making’ business and products are advertised on these sites .
😂 I could only imagine. People keep saying it sure looks well maintained for being empty. It would make great use for people with no place to stay ( live). Nice idea but if they did it wouldn't look like that if so. Especially if here in the US
Wouldn't doubt that for a second , we have so many slobs and pigs as well is disrespectful ignorant people here in the states ,I find it unbearable to be out in public for any extended period of time I just can't deal with this new generation and what I see when I am in public, for this reason when I go out of my house it's strictly to run what ever errand I have to run then get the hell back to my house , I don't like to mingle , I do however love being in nature , I've always felt at great peace when I'm out in nature or the middle of the woods or the summit of a mountain or ridge , it's very refreshing and uplifting for ones soul , we all need to seek out our connection to mother nature and be more in tune, there's so much beauty. I dont have many friends,, just a couple , 4 to be exact , and I'd take a bullet for any one of them at any time and I don't doubt they would do the same for me , it's not alot but it's about quality not quantity. Two of my 4 friends are my little brother and my little sister , I'd do anything do both of them and hold them dear to my heart and know I am blessed. Younger generations need to work on their gratitude, thankfulness, spirituality and morals , and just treat each other like you would want to be treated. I remember growing up as a kid in the late 80's and through the 90's, this world was such a different place then, and I didn't know how good we really had it back then until many years later as things started to crumble , basically as we got into the 2000's, it's gotten much worse though in I'd say the last 5-6 years society is just going mad and it's sad to see, it's a shame. I know all the people aren't to blame , with all the mind control , propaganda, fake news , corruption, Hollywood and the music industry has also done a ton of damage to society and it keeps getting worse with all the hidden messages , subliminal shit, occult symbolism, satanism, transhumanism , political correctness , people are engulfed by all this so I do not soley blame the people for it's not entirely their fault . We need a change , people are waking up I see this more and more and I just hope that it continues and builds up to a great change in society and sooner than later preferably. Love and light to all. sorry for the rant I hope my point of view is understood and seen clear I'm not trying to sound or be malicious or hateful in any way because I'm not , I just want change like I know so many other people want as well . Shit I just got laid off of a job I worked hard at for 4 years and when I filed for unemployement so I can eat 2 meals a day my exemployer lied to labor department and said I quit without just cause !!!! Wtf. Some people are unbelievable I don't know why he would screw me like that after being a very loyal employee for 4 years, it's because he's cheap as fuck and doesn't want his unemployement insurance to go up by $5 a month by letting me file, I know this is his motive , that Is how cheap the guy is and now I suffer and am eating peanut butter and jelly twice a day every day 7 days a week because I have nearly no savings left. Ugh. Sorry people I just need somebody to read this and understand , I've been so stressed lately and it's effecting my sleep greatly which in turn has been effecting my health and immune system , been sick 3 times in 8 weeks , what gives. I ask my God and creator for his mercy but I don't know that he's lent it to me yet , hopefully something good will come out of all this in the end. I've learned the best lessons in my life after rising above a great struggle, I hope this circumstance is no different. God bless 🙏
I've had a strange obsession with Kitsault since I found out about it several years ago and lo and behold you explore it and post this video. Great job!!!
I absolutely loved this video! Just daydreaming of what it would be like to own the whole town! I think your explorations rank right up there with the best...music is great and you look like you have such a great time doing this.
This place is amazing. What a short and sad history. It looks like any neighborhood in my state in the US. Except it is deserted! Most of those houses are magnificent. I am glad, though, someone is taking care of it.
The later town of Kitsault was established in 1979 as the home community to a molybdenum mine, run by the Phelps Dodge corporation of the United States. The community was designed for 1,200 residents and included a shopping mall, restaurant, swimming pool and bowling alley.[7] In 1982, however, prices for molybdenum crashed and the entire community was evacuated after just 18 months of residence. In 2004, the ghost town was bought by Indian-Canadian businessman Krishnan Suthanthiran for $5.7 million; he has spent $2 million maintaining the town.[8] He renamed the community from "Kitsault" to "Chandra Krishnan Kitsault", after his deceased mother.[3] In the end, he would have spent over $20 million more to fully update the town. He has also since closed the town to the public.[9] In an effort to revitalize the ghost town, Kitsault has been proposed as a location for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal site for the export of natural gas from northwestern British Columbia. LNG pipeline routing to Kitsault has been proposed.[10]
There was a man who bought the town a few years back and has been trying to restore the town and make it a place for scientist and artist to come and work.
I saw that in a documentary that was made 4 or 5 years ago. I think he's had trouble turning that into a reality. Now he's trying to convince an energy company to run a natural gas pipeline there and the town can be a hub for natural gas exports (it is near the Pacific ocean and the border with Alaska).
Isn't it lovely when a place is too far away for vandals to get to, how well preserved things can stay. The buildings were built far enough away from the surrounding trees that nature hasn't invaded yet. This must be getting maintained to some extent for the power still to be live. I'm surprised that some "Back-to-Nature" community hasn't taken it over and made a go of getting away from it all: there's plenty of hunting and fishing and good land to survive on, unless it's owned and guarded by the Government or some company with something in mind for the future. It would make a great holiday resort for sports people, nature enthusiasts or wild life enthusiasts. Amazing that it's abandoned, just sitting like a modernish time capsule. Wonderful.
H. I. McDunnough agreed i think this town still in use. Maybe for filming purpose or as safe houses. Or worse but it's still in use no dust buildup nor cobwebs...uh ok Let me go 3days w/o dusting and I got 2 layers of dusty film.
True, but still glad to see this. I would love to see that in person or rehab it for myself and others to inhabit this place. I wouldn't have known about it If it weren't for this gentleman filming this, as bad as his filming may be.
I was there as a little kid when the houses were being taken off the foundation. I lived around 10 years in one of those houses after it had been moved to Prince George.
I first heard about Kitsault back in 2012 from a 16x9 documentary; and I won't lie, seeking out beautiful if not abandoned places like this is what motivated me to move from ON to BC.
We all worry so much about "stuff" in our lives: cars, houses, furniture, all associated crap needed to live. And guess what? It all ends up as discarded junk. That's why I love these urban explorer vlogs. - Makes you realise how transient the physical life really is and more importantly nudges you towards what we really should be concerned about.
Right, I agree. People put too much emphasis on stuff. But could you imagine a whole city of people that live stacked on top of each other living like Nomads near woods and in fields?? 🤔 Makes one wonder how that would work. At any rate we'd still all be better off.
Power was on. Did you try the heater, water. Straight ahead 11:00 would be real clean to stay with kit across and I'm sure if water is on Check toilet? Did you . Almost two years ago I know but wondering. All that firewood and fireplace in room. I would still check the heater first. Such a nice clean place. Awesome this would have been better than a crowded amusement part. Have a great summer, and rest of spring. LOL Be safe. OOO
That’s a safety thing, when you’re exploring abandoned buildings it’s smart to use night vision camera to observe where you are going and if floors are damaged or there are obstacles in your path.
Great Videos thanks for making them. I wish the music was softer when I turn it up to hear you then the music shakes the house. All the videos I watch lately have LOUD music between talking...it must be the new video fad.
Music only distracts from the video. What's interesting is the feeling of being there with you while you're walking and talking and looking. The music is like some horrible alienating commercial.
OK---I am about a minute into the video...and I am LOVING it already. I love this "intro" with you guys in the car! IDK why but that made me really happy for some reason. This whole video was amazing!! Was that guy really DEAD? As in deadder than a doornail...pushin' up daisies??? Whoa. He was either dead or really dead asleep (pardon the pun).

Dude have you thought about getting on a boat and checking out the abandoned stuff along the north coast of BC? There's like a bajjillion canneries, mines, and whole other towns up there, and the best ones ain't got no roads to em. Ocean Falls comes to mind but there's even cooler stuff out there.
I would love to visit some of the places along the coast, especially ocean falls. I don't have a boat tho and it costs a pile of money to charter one. hopefully some day tho.
take the inner passage mid coast connect BC ferry. They usually do half-off pricing for that trip in November, so you're saving at least 250$. You might have to spend a night in ocean falls though....creeeeeeepy ;) but good footage. That boat trip in general is good cause you really do see the canneries etc that have all been abandoned.

You cannot just warehouse the homeless in the middle of no where. Their are various reasons for homelessness the main one being mental illness and metal illness with addiction. You need to have some kind of industry to provide jobs and income. You need to have funding and housing for mental health care support staff. You need law enforcement for crime prevention. You need funding for schools and teachers. However if someone could provide some kind of industry and labor type jobs out there and the government would provide grants for health and welfare to relocate some staff it would probably be an ideal peaceful location for a homeless support community.
@@sheiladawg1664 Your lack of compassion is equaled only by your ignorance of the reasons that so many people are homeless in affluent countries like the US and Canada. @@sheiladawg1664that is exactly true. Unfortunately you cannot (or rarely) give humanity anything without expecting them to destroy or at the very least not care for it. I've seen a few things about Kitsault over the years and its always very intriguing. Is there still a full time caretaker out there? I didn't think they let anyone look around out there
The guy who owns it has people who take care of it. Since it's private property you're not allowed to enter without permission. If you just go in and the workers see you, you can get arrested for trespassing.

That is awesome guys can you share the whats and the why's not the where you have blown our minds . I have good idea where you give good clues.one thing what was the room with all the cages got to be simple. Thanks so much for taking us with Central California watching
Not a big fan of super wide angle fisheye lenses, but the ONE thing they are good for is interior shots like this when you want to show a room. At some point all the camera motion with the relatively tight shot gets tiresome. Or really step your game up and get a 4k 360 cam, I'd pitch in if you kickstarted that! Keep up the good work, I love this channel!
Its in remarkable condition despite being abandoned so long. The small team of caretakers are definately doing a fantastic job. Most of it is still inhabitable.. are there any seasonable residents? Most of it looks like it was abandoned last week not in 1983 lol...
I've been watching a lot of crime documentaries lately, so my first thought when watching this was imagine being kidnapped and drugged to the point of passing out then being dumped in the middle of a place like this. You regain consciousness and start knocking on doors seeking help only to find out the entire place is empty. It would be so surreal.
Those buildings are in great shape for being abandoned for over 30 years. Usually if they arent heated mold, moisture and weather take their toll. There didnt seem to be any of that!
Interesting to note, in that first place -- the "abandoned" townhouse complex -- as they walk around it, and as you look through the windows, you can see that someone's come through with a big lawnmower and cut the grass recently. I guess it's still got a caretaker.
Yeah it would be completely overgrown. I'm guessing someone comes at least once a month to clean everything, if not once a week to dust. The cut grass is probably the biggest indicator of how often someone comes. The caretaker is doing a great job.
You need to quit with the quick camera moment, also, need to keep the camera pointed forward and not at the ground, abandoned ground looks the same as non abandoned ground.
I just found your channel with this adventure. Will be watching more. I see at the end of this you have some drone footage. Would have been great to see some aerial footage of Kitsault when you were there. I live in Spokane, WA and may have to come up and explore some of these locations myself. Keep up the great work.

Looks amazing. Should be protected
There are many small towns that are empty because work dried up in the area.
They are fully intact clean and beautiful or at least they were.
The caretaker has been there since the mega fart incident. 😳
@@lindaslack6871one of my neighbors brother is a caretaker of one of those towns. They apparently get paid very well. He getting ready to retire and his son (retiring from RCMP) will taking over.
This is amazing, to be abandoned for so long and still in great shape...wow! The caretakers have done well to keep it in such good condition.
Beauty, everywhere one turns; I'd live there. The natural resources are all around and abundant. IMHO.
Amazing...u put up a free video and STILL PPL COMPLAIN! Enjoyed it.

Come a long way to 2022 November.
Congratulations on the new overlander move ! Can't wait for new adventures . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Abandoned Canadian places are much cleaner than abandoned American places.
😂 I could only imagine. People keep saying it sure looks well maintained for being empty. It would make great use for people with no place to stay ( live). Nice idea but if they did it wouldn't look like that if so. Especially if here in the US
I was just saying the same. Here would have graffiti all over it lol.
No panties twisted here 🤣
THAT`S WHY!
ChiselMouse omggg me too!!!
Same here! I've been fascinated by it and when I saw the title of this video I knew where he was going instantly! Such a unique place!
Same here, I only glanced at the apartment building didn't read the title and knew where it was.
Kitsault
He has also since closed the town to the public.[9]
In an effort to revitalize the ghost town, Kitsault has been proposed as a location for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal site for the export of natural gas from northwestern British Columbia. LNG pipeline routing to Kitsault has been proposed.[10]
There was a man who bought the town a few years back and has been trying to restore the town and make it a place for scientist and artist to come and work.
James ....I saw where the grass had been mowed when they were inside filming out the window of an apartment....
James I need to go there
I saw that. If that doesn't work it would be a cool get away.
James Now that was a great idea. I hate to see good places abandoned
Wonderful.
You have no idea how isolated that place is.
What a gorgeous little town. I've never seen an abandoned town so clean. Amazing.
H. I. McDunnough agreed i think this town still in use. Maybe for filming purpose or as safe houses. Or worse but it's still in use no dust buildup nor cobwebs...uh ok
Let me go 3days w/o dusting and I got 2 layers of dusty film.
Owned by a private investor who pays to keep it maintained

True, but still glad to see this. I would love to see that in person or rehab it for myself and others to inhabit this place. I wouldn't have known about it If it weren't for this gentleman filming this, as bad as his filming may be.

This was a vid about carpeting, what are you complaining about
Yeah they didn't pay much attention to camerawork.
I was there as a little kid when the houses were being taken off the foundation. I lived around 10 years in one of those houses after it had been moved to Prince George.
Do you have pictures of that house?
Nice find but had to stop watching because the camera was pointing at the floor/ground 99% of the time.
Steve Quinn you had to stop because you are bossy, and wants everything to fit you!
That was my thought. Nice floor can we see more of tge building.
Also moving the camera to damn fast!
I first heard about Kitsault back in 2012 from a 16x9 documentary; and I won't lie, seeking out beautiful if not abandoned places like this is what motivated me to move from ON to BC.
You better bring a shitload of money with you. BC stands for Bring Cash!
DUSTIN! I cannot believe this video is 7 years old now ffs!!! Been watching your videos way before this one. Keep it going bro!!!!
Snooker table and scoreboards: And those "brushes" are for re-icing the curling track.
definitely snooker, I lived at RAF Bentwaters, England for 8 1/2 years and my brother in law played it.
You should buy a Gimbal. I just got one at Best Buy for $139.00 U.S. Makes for a nice smooth video. You're making me seasick! but great content!
For a place that’s been abandoned since the 80’s it’s in remarkably good condition
It's in good condition because the town is privately owned and has hired caretakers.
OOO

Nothing like examining the floors of abandoned buildings, nice camera work :)
That’s a safety thing, when you’re exploring abandoned buildings it’s smart to use night vision camera to observe where you are going and if floors are damaged or there are obstacles in your path.
Cool video buddy well enjoyed this. Crazy place my friend.
I was wondering the same thing and I'm surprised there's not more comments about it.
Me too. It’s so random and if the guy really was dead then why is it not the central point of this video you finding a body
It was his friend exploring with him
If their is places like this ......why in the HELL do we have so many homeless.
You'd still have bills to pay rent isn't free
Cause the international banker can't make no money and the selfish people won't allow it...... people don't have no heart for the weak!!! Shame
The homeless would starve in droves in the wilderness no matter how nice the houses are.
You live in the Canadian wilderness?
Because in the western world very few truly care about others welfare, someone somewhere would have to make a profit off of it or it will never happen.
Agreed, Surf inlet is a great spot as well!
I would love to visit some of the places along the coast, especially ocean falls. I don't have a boat tho and it costs a pile of money to charter one. hopefully some day tho.
Do it in style, find a yachting or sailing channel to do a colab with!
thats a hell of an idea right there
take the inner passage mid coast connect BC ferry. They usually do half-off pricing for that trip in November, so you're saving at least 250$. You might have to spend a night in ocean falls though....creeeeeeepy ;) but good footage. That boat trip in general is good cause you really do see the canneries etc that have all been abandoned.

@scott Peterson, you're supposed to be in jail.
You have no idea what you are talking about. You would die there easily and nobody would even find your remains.
This place is itching to be purchased and turned into a camp or something, everything looks in amazing condition
For what serial killers? That place is the last stop until you fall off of the earth.
Cool video. I wanted to see this place I have heard about it. Hoped you informed somebody about the person deceased? Surprised you don't recognise a regulation snooker table and proper scoreboards -not pool.
Is this a tourist place? The lack of dust, cobwebs and window grime amazes me. Not matter where a place is, dust and spiders would accumulate after awhile.....

I'd totally take a slice of that. Take my money!!!

I was there 15 years ago it's been fished out we let the veitmese in and no fishing at all
There are some places showing wear and age due to neglect, but I'm amazed at the good condition of most of the structures. It's like somebody has been stopping in periodically to maintain everything.
This is incredible space when considering how many homeless there are.
They would destroy it. Since they didn't work for it, they wouldn't value it.
You should some time off from making stupid comments like that to educate yourself about the problem, and maybe find a place in your heart to care about the less fortunate around you while you're at it.
@@allynnamccleod8862 Thanks for the haughty condescension. Kinda the pot calling the kettle black, according to your rules, wouldn't you say?
@@sheiladawg1664that is exactly true. Unfortunately you cannot (or rarely) give humanity anything without expecting them to destroy or at the very least not care for it. The low income, middle income, whatever class if not raised with values will not take care of these and they would not be in the shape they are in now. So sad. I wish it were different. I wish we could trust people to care for themselves let alone a home!
My favourite video by far! Such a special place and so nice it's not been vandalized, it gives you a "last man on earth" kinda feel ✌️

I've seen a few things about Kitsault over the years and its always very intriguing. Is there still a full time caretaker out there? I didn't think they let anyone look around out there
The guy who owns it has people who take care of it. Since it's private property you're not allowed to enter without permission. If you just go in and the workers see you, you can get arrested for trespassing.

is anybody going to talk about the dead guy who the camaras just showed at beginning. is there a lot of suicides there?
If you find a suspected body you are supposed to alert the authorities and stay away from it.
So did they report it or what?
I love when he's in the Woman's change room and his buddy says "The Ladies room, get out of there". Charmingly PRICELESS. [19:20]
I wasn't aware Canada had that many abandoned towns. I'm from Nova Scotia. There is only a couple here, but nothing left of them.
Oh that's a good plot for a "b" slasher flick. I love it!
Yeah the right script and this town would be a good location for a interesting movie.
Those buildings are in great shape for being abandoned for over 30 years. Usually if they arent heated mold, moisture and weather take their toll. There didnt seem to be any of that!
That's because all the homes have had there heat kept on for over 30 years
I would love to vacation there. So beautiful to look at.
Your videos are fantastic. The filming and the songs and so forth are amazing.
Another great video Justin thanks a bunch.
i really don't understand how and/or why in many abandoned places there's power still running!
WHY?
Because it's not abandoned
That's really smart and safe driving, passenger on phone holding the wheel while the driver texts, glad I don't have to drive on BC roads!
Shut the hell up
I just found your channel with this adventure. Will be watching more. I see at the end of this you have some drone footage. Would have been great to see some aerial footage of Kitsault when you were there. I live in Spokane, WA and may have to come up and explore some of these locations myself. Keep up the great work.
Who is taking care of the grounds?? Looks like grass is being cut.

Beautiful drive up to get there. Seems everything goes by the wayside now
you can clearly see the grass had been cut and the left Over grass that was laying in rows. someone is doing upkeep on the property obviously
After seeing this video, I looked up the town. They are in the process of building a resort in the town. I really hope to see it come back to life. The buildings seem to be maintained pretty well.
There is zero chance a resort is ever going to be built there. There is always some dumb rich guy that thinks they can do it but there is zero chance! That place will go back to mother nature and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop it. The government even knows this is going to happen and they could give a care. It is way way to far away from anything.
There’s no industry there, no mine, no mill, nothing. You need something to drive the economy. People are not going to go there just to buy cheap 1980’s homes and sit around.
@@alextaylor8776 depends on how far it is from everything else... my work is an hour and a half from my home, closest grocery store is 30 minutes away. I absolutely would go buy there if the price was right.
