    Patrick and Diana had a once in a lifetime chemistry. You cannot "act" or "fake" the sexual chemistry these two had. They loved each other in real life and you can take that how you want. Nobody will be able to successfully reboot this series because nobody can recreate Patrick and Diana.

    • @MrToombstone
      @MrToombstone ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You absolutely got that right. The chemistry between these two great actors could never be duplicated. That is why I boycotted the reboot movie. On the other hand Linda Thorson was tolerable with the help of Patrick MacNee. I tried watching the earlier Avengers and they were kind of boring.

      Diana Rigg was perfect for the role. The show failed in America when she left.
      But, the show went on with Linda Thorson and was a hit in some places. I find these episodes boring but, there's no accounting for taste sometimes.

      I remember I was very unfair to Linda’s Tara King. She wasn’t Diana Rigg. Wherever you are, Ms. Thorson. I apologize.

    The Avengers series ran for years and Emma Peel was only in it for 2 (1965-67) but she and Steed are the only characters I remember. They were great friends in real life too. He was 45 and Rigg was 29 when this last episode was shot.

      Check out the Cathy Gale episodes with Honor Blackman. They are much grittier than the Emma era, but Mrs. Gale was a badass before Emma was a badass. I love them both.

      True That. Though I’d say Tara fluctuates between good and great. Emma Peel’s strength was her “consistent” performance & gravitas

      IF ONLY 'they' hadn't damaged/ruined her hair by too much bleaching and harsh chemicals, resulting in those damn wigs. IMO she was infinitely more appealing in pre-"Avengers" photos with her own hair. A pretty face, nice figure, youth (20), wears clothes well, intelligent, athletic, likeable -- individually can in their own be nice attributes. And here's Linda Thorson, blessed to have them ALL. Yet overcome with bad hair.
      A bloody shame.

    I tell ya, between Emma Peel, Sarah Jane, and a few others, some of those British women have had me wrapped around their little fingers for a very long time now.
    It's really difficult seeing them get old and leave this world. Probably more so than seeing myself get old.
    Rest in peace, ladies... you are and always will be missed.

      "It's really difficult seeing them get old and leave this world. Probably more so than seeing myself get old".
      I've long felt this but this is the first time I've seen it expressed by someone else. I find it incredibly melancholic to watch the women I originally saw as young beauties get old and die, and it's more distressing than seeing the same thing happening to myself.

      I think they were involved romantically -- Emma thought she was a widow after all -- so that makes this scene especially poignant. A real relationship was ending. I really wonder just how long Emma stayed with Peter once the new wore off of his return. I mean, she had obviously moved on. By The New Avengers, she had changed her name and wasn't Mrs. Peel anymore. I like to think they got back together. ❤️

    Diana Rigg gave this series an excellent run and was a major reason for its success. However, realistically, she had much more to offer as an actress and was wise to move on to bigger projects. As for me, when she left the series I stopped watching. I do however watch the Avengers on DVD all the time.

      Hi Donna! If you call leaving Avengers to be the "Bond Girl" in 1969's James Bond movie "Her Majesty's Secret Service" bombing out, yeah she bombed out. It was among the top grossing films of 1969. ThronesDo you...read?

    • @rogerbennett9641
      @rogerbennett9641 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deesplaylists6941 IMO she was a real person not a shallow celebrity seeking puppet, that's why she could not/would not succumb to Hollywood, thankfully. She devoted herself to motherhood in preference to acting, for her daughters well being. She found stage acting more rewarding for herself as a mature woman but what she achieved with the Avengers was with regards to style, wit, charm, elegance and man appeal for me incomparable.
