I came to love this show when I discovered it for the first time, when the MeTV station/affiliate was airing re-runs of it, back in 2012. Actually, I think they ONLY showed the episodes where Diana Rigg was starring in them.

This is the only episode where Steed says "You're needed", the standard phrase is "we're needed" (and in Epic she says, "Sorry Steed, I'm needed - elsewhere!"
To be fair, while it was probably less than the men were getting it was still a significant amount back then. It’s the equivalent to £2,800 in 2022 money. You could buy a lot. For a weeks income. The average would have been £15-20. You could pick up a decent flat/ apartment for £2,000-£3,000 back then (prices weren’t so crazy of course) so if you made 10-20 episodes per year it would knock a chunk out of any mortgage.
ha, no this is from the Optimum Releasing DVD which had an audio issue due to the frame rate. They used a simple 2:2 pulldown (24 @ 25) when remastering - basically running 24fps material at 25 fps. The new blurays are fixed as they use native 24fps with soft telecine.
The format was normally for Steed to leave a card or written message "Mrs Peel, We're needed" but in this episode he says "You're needed" instead, as he needs her to help him.

I love how Steed has a tuba full of flowers. Only in ‘The Avengers’ would that be a normal design choice.
It’s the 60’s, they tried to be avant garde with designs.
