    Looks like a lot of transpo costs! It's all about balancing your resources to achieve the most efficient way of production. I think it would be better to invest in storage space management than to continuously ship out component inventory 3-4 times per week.

      While storage space management would solve the inventory problem, it wouldn't solve the "waste" problem. JIT solves the waste problem. Startups (and even corporates) cannot spend millions of dollars hoarding inventory. Capital lockup is a huge risk, mainly because of demand fluctuations.
      As for balancing resources to achieve efficiency in production, Kanban also includes the process of Kaizen (continuous improvement). New memos to suppliers could order more units of inventory to match the demand required. However, if the supplier doesn't receive a memo they won't supply (because no new kanban was issued). This can save the company costs.
